As a matter of interest how are crowds levels holding up nowadays, the standard of big name riders seems to have dropped ( that is not to say entertainment is less).?

Crowds are pretty stable over the last few years. Think they are even up at some LT tracks.

Didn't they have a round at one of the Polish Elite tracks last year?

It was Rzeszow- which is nearly 100 M longer

not quite, Rzeszow track is 395m

anyway, it is a farce that they race on Polish speedway tracks instead of proper long-tracks.

What actually defines a Longtrack these days? I always assumed it was the 800 - 1000m tracks

It used to be a minium length of 450m and up to 1000m long. But to get Poland involved the FIM dropped the minimum length a few years ago, and it is now open for any kind of track, sand, shale or grass and regardless how long or short, which is just ridiculous. They have reduced the number of riders in the world long track championship to only five in a race, which was neccessary because of the smaller tracks such as the Polish venues.

Minimum length isn't dropped. It's 350 meters. Max length is 1300 meters.

Me thinks it’s a fine line between getting a Polish track involved and getting a track anywhere involved in LT.

Also the main reason in going to 5 rider races was to make them race each other in the prelis like in speedway. Guess they only started with the format a week before the season to realise it would not happen…

Thinking of trying to get along to Marmande in July. Is there anywhere nearby to camp does anyone know or even on site? Would have the kids and by all accounts it's a late start so they might not make the "post midnight final and fireworks"! Any pointers appreciated.

There is a campingfield next to the track. Not sure if they have water/showers there.

Thanks, I’ll look into that. We could survive one night without amenities I think.
