As I remember it, Les Whaley and Ian and Johnnie Hoskins were in charge at the end of 1971, though Johnnie had little or no involvement. The Hoskins sold out to Jimmy Beaton and Neil Macfarlane before the start of the 1972 season, during which Whaley sold his interest to James Wallace. Not sure how long Wallace stayed involved, nor whether guys like Bill Harold and DL Thompson ever had shares in the promotion. speed1963 2 Posted March 8, 2023 One pair of promoters who have been lost in the mist of time were Cy Melville and Rodney Rycroft. Took over at Oxford for the 1964 season from Dicky Worth and they proceeded to win everything. As an Oxford super fan from 1960-61 it was fantastic. Bringing in Ron How and Jimmy Gooch transformed the team. It was a great season but they only lasted for that one year after which they went bust, or at least one of them did! Graham Drury was a good old school promoter, didn’t Gary Patchett have something to do promoting with Nigel Pearson a while ago, maybe that is why he owed money to GRA? Regarding James Wallace think he was an Edinburgh fan and I’m sure when Bernie Persson rode for Monarchs he stayed with James.Also think he had a small interest when there was the odd meeting at Motherwell around that time as well as Newtongrange think he put money into the ventures.Also not sure what happened in the end with him Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

He leased Birmingham from Tony Mole for a season but didn't take up the option to buy the promotion outright and departed under a bit of a cloud.
