Glasgow v Edinburgh CL 16/9/23 @19-30

Recommended Posts

Could easily complain about 2 man team under performances etc but know what, that was a brilliant meeting. Thoroughly enjoyed it and heat 13 was as good if not better than Berwick. Borke looks a talent for sure.

Minor point why was lasse and not Kye replaced in 14? Not made a difference but lasse was far better imo

Surprised Lasse wasn’t out in 14 for Kye Thomson.

6 points for Craig’s rides. says it all.

In fairness it's 6 from 3 sacrificing wood to the lambs in heat 13. If was me would've used him in heat 10 and borke in 13, not that made much difference I don't think.

The rain dance worked then. Better get back to it.

Fair play to Edinburgh for making a very enjoyable meeting  but job done in the end.

Basso and Harris were superb and the admission money was worth every penny, you were hoping they missed the gate heat 13 was sensational.

Sedgemen and Borke were excellent value for the Monarchs backed up by the international porn star.

Still a defeat. Think it was your boys below par apart from Basso n Bomber. Gazc, do you think different track conditions caught rest of Tigers team out?

Summarised -

The old cliche, heat 13 was worth the admission alone.

Brilliant to see a new rider to British speedway like Borke giving it a real go. Definitely one to watch out for if you are chasing down Harris on his own track in heat 15.

If Mr Cook had turned up tonight Edinburgh could have been looking at an away win. Potentially time for the tigers to start pondering a change.

I certainly think it did for some. Tom was lacking speed. Claus had bike issues in his first two heats. Ace was off the pace and Marcin struggled too. It just wasn't clicking like it normally does.

That said, when Bomber gated, he was winning by two or three seconds, and Basso just guns it around the outside. 28 points from ten rides for the two of them says it all. 20 points from the other 20 rides...

You had a family packet of Haribos? That Monarchs line up is an embarrassment. Top National League teams would give them a run for their money. Silence is deafening from the blue n gold media outlets. Jacob wasn’t given a chance this season to prove himself. 5 riders were retained from the 2022 septet. Should never have happened. How bad have we become when we talk about damage limitation in a league match? Shocking state of affairs. Rant over.

Looks a little silly now doesn’t it

Track conditions tend to affect home teams more initially and the pre-meeting rain certainly had some effect on certain riders.

Harris and Basso just adapted better , young Borke looks a real talent was very impressed with him, was throwing the bike out wider than Bomber but generated a lot of speed.

Thirty to forty minutes of grading between heats 4 and 10 would suggest we were trying to recover the track to suit us. Complin and Pijper really struggled but Nowak really seems uninterested in conditions that dont immediately suit him. Ht13 is one of the best races I've seen.

I can’t say I noticed track grading being any longer than normal? They did need to water the track alongside the grading, but I don’t think they were doing anything they don’t normally do. The interval was longer because they had the draw for the U21 final, but that was already planned.

r/r for Cook only lost to Harris & Basso, can't guarantee Cook would have done any better. Plus Cook in heat 13, would've meant Lasse taking one less ride for a Wood (likely) last place.

In these circumstances can't say Edinburgh missed Cook
