Best team one for once the reserves done there job between them scoring more than there average gilkes was very good but if you have a no1 who can’t win a race and barker riding like he’d never seen the place you have no chance no point moaning about team changes he ain’t going to do it what’s the point well done Oxford best no 1 I’ve seen here all season and a good bloke hope you have a great rest of the season.

To be fair Worrall has been poor all season and tonight scoring 7 points from 6 rides at home is shocking off your heat leader.

The team manager drove him out, like he did at Somerset.

Simple as that and a matter of fact.

He didn't want to leave, he was fine there until May arrived, but May made his position untenable.

No you are wrong 100%,Garry  did not want Atkins to leave it was totally his decision to go,or his and his dad's.

no it’s up to the mechanic to put it on the bike the machine examiner will inspect it in the pits along with the bike whether it’s on the bike or not it usually the last thing the mechanic  does after warming the bike up as it’s pretty hard to start the bike off the back wheel with it on

Paul Hurry is usually Scott's mechanic. He may have to buy the coffees on the way home.

Scott Nicholls was excluded from his first race for starting without a dirt deflector.

Could any one tell me the specific regulation that covers that please?

Thanks

Yes, he needs one to be fitted!

Why was he allowed to leave the pits without one ? Surely that's something that the machine examiner should be looking for

Why should the machine examiner stop him leaving the pits? If Scott and/or his mechanic make the mistake it's their fault and advantage the opposition.

It was quite amusing watching the Oxford team manager  putting a dirt deflecter next to Scott's bike in the pits and trying to make out it was used made a prick of himself tbh.

The Machine Examiner must ensure that all machines & riders equipment meet the minimum requirements as per the regulations at all times.

Copied and pasted from SCB rulebook:

04.2.7 Dirt Deflectors Are compulsory and must be FIM Homologated, including all the parts.

Thanks Steve. I see that.

I'm just surprised that there is no specific regulation that lists it as a disqualification reason or lists as a starting offence - or even a cover all reg such as a non compliant bike is a reason for disqualification.

Just me being a pedant!

Why no Gilkes in heat 15? Plymouth’s best rider by far on the night. Howarth not doing so great he’s not a number 1, he’s currently at reserve in the prem which should build his confidence back up. But don’t think he’ll be at Plymouth much longer

An ethical dilemna for a machine examiner.

Do you tell the rider he has no dirt deflector or do you wait for his to enter the track with Pit Gate Closed and then call the Ref, or wait for the Ref not to notice and then alert the Ref??.

Heat of the moment in a tight match a tough call and there are some promoters who would see helping an opponent and a Referee as a dismissal offence. :o

Surely the machine examiner should be neutral?

Doesn't the machine examiner only inspect machinery once (before the meeting) ?

They should still be keeping an eye on things.
