Championship Pairs - Sep 1st

Recommended Posts

Line-ups for the Championship Pairs confirmed (although I'm sure there will be some late changes). Disappointing for Oxford fans that there’s no Scott Nicholls, but to be expected I guess with his TV commitments. Lewi Kerr a decent replacement…

GLASGOW: Chris Harris & Benjamin Basso

POOLE: Richard Lawson & Ben Cook

OXFORD: Sam Masters & Lewis Kerr

EDINBURGH: Craig Cook & Josh Pickering

BIRMINGHAM: Troy Batchelor & Justin Sedgmen

BERWICK: Leon Flint & Jye Etheridge

SCUNTHORPE: Ryan Douglas & Jake Allen

REDCAR: Charles Wright & Danny King

PLYMOUTH: Kyle Howarth & Richie Worrall

Pirates weakened by the loss of Steve Worrall but Ben Cook a good replacement and will give it his best. Oxford should walk this but last year aware never in the running.

1) Etheridge had been awful away, but that's a harsh description of Flint's season.

2) if riders get banned for missing league matches, should the same happen for shared events? Must be hard to convince fans that British Finals / Pairs / Riders Championship's are important if the riders WANT to sit them out?

Yet the two are the next two in the averages. Leon has been far from useless just not as consistent as I'm sure even he would like or expect.

Poole got beat in the final last year when Worrall broke down on the start line. Unsure how that equates to “were never in the running”

Hard to pick a winner there Oxford has the advantage but poole ,redcar and scunthorpe will be amongst it ,shame it’s not on a non championship track to even the advantages out

On 2023 averages Harris and basso got best form. Bit didn't ride very well together at Oxford in heat 15 letting Nichols past for 5-1

Would have to be Workington then as most of the top riders would ride regularly on Prem tracks

On Nicholls form, be passed by him is no big surprise
