12.4.2024 - Scunny vs Plymouth KOC

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

The second leg at Plymouth on Saturday is already postponed until the 20th. No surprise. The weather in Devon has been biblical since the end of last summer, 100’s of mm’s of rain falling monthly.

Before those try and blame the Plymouth promotion for that, I quote you what the clerk of the course has said at nearby Newton Abbot Racecourse after they’ve had to cancel their first two meetings with the track having standing water now for a prolonged period of time. There’s no guarantee they will be ready for May 8th but they hope to be fit for racing.

Even without the track renovations - this meeting wouldn’t have gone ahead. Mark can’t control the weather.

Just the gladiator’s second meeting of the season this. There will be a good level of support from Plymouth there on Friday to get behind the team.

Well done..some people reading this will think Friday is off when it is Saturday away

I’ve edited it to save confusion. I would argue that it clearly states in the original post this is the fixture on Friday at Scunny and I was clearly mentioning the home fixture in devon

Be aware that there has been a couple of tidal flood warnings these last few days in Hull & the south bank from Barton to South Ferriby with the A1077 being closed. The alternative route, if used, would be A15, A18/M180 into Scunthorpe heading right at Morrisons roundabout, having the steelworks on your right following signs for Normanby.

If they dredge the Humber , like they used to ,there would be no chance of flooding. As it is now, you can virtually walk over to Read's Island at low tide.

The Enviromental Agency should pull their fingers out & dredge the most severe waterways of flooding, notably River Ouse, the River Severn areas & Cambridge areas as they flood every year. Also, where cliff erosion is more prevalent, they could place large rocks, boulders or concrete near to cliff edges to break up the power of the waves.

That would be the logical thing to do but councils prefer to spunk your taxes on their own vanity projects and 'woke causes'. Taxation is theft if you have to hand it over to criminals.

Thats poor from Plymouth, not good for speedway when a team is using a second strings for a number 1.

No disrespect to Rowe, but he clearly isn’t a number 1. Can only see a heavy home win to make the second leg redundant.
