Can someone please tell me how I can go back in time and get the 10 mins of my life I've just lost reading pages of drivel about who's got the best aussie. Just want to end the debate, TUNGATE is Aussie champ so is the no1 Aussie And also, for you snobs down south, give me a weatherspoon as up north it's a delicacy6 points

2016 wasn't it? Got rid of concessions and made it cheaper for families and students. Would be interesting to know if the idea worked and encouraged more students and children to attend because it certainly upset a lot of OAP's who had supported the Bees for years. Like you say quite a lot refused to go any more but that would probably please SCB with less old people cluttering up the place with their fold up chairs.6 points

The trouble with Gavan and some others is they don’t realise when you’re pulling their chain. Someone says Morris is better than Kurtz in the UK and then backs it up with proof so as to wrap things up. Then someone, usually the same types argue for devilment even though it’s not a point for debate. Gavan takes it seriously and off we go. During my early years on the forum I got sucked in with this kind of thing as it never dawned on me people would be so odd. It still fascinates me somewhat that people like to behave that way. Like I say to my kids, the sooner you realise some people are dicks and not to engage them, the better your life will be.5 points

You could have a £10 price for OAPs but with additional extras such as; Fold up chair £5 Flask £1 Sandwiches - will be inspected for quality at entrance and given a rating. National League standard £1, Championship £2, Premiership £3 Cap with badges on £5 Wulfsport coat - £504 points

So Premiership clubs would have to suffer because Swindon can't fit in with the rules the Premiership have set.. They should only be allowed to run Thursday's against teams that are not affected by clashes of dates with Championship meetings.4 points

It seems the memory of Speedway at the famous Norwich "Firs" stadium, has now attracted the attention of a housing developer. Lovell Homes are building a new estate just up the road from the site of the old Norwich Speedway Firs Stadium, and to honour the memory of many of the riders, they have named each house type after famous riders from the past. So if you buy a house at the new Firs Park development, it could be a Betts or a Lawson or one of many others. They even have a picture of the old Firs Stadium in their brochure. Great idea, well done Lovell Homes. http://www.lovellnewhomes.co.uk/developments/east-anglia/firs-park/location http://www.lovellnewhomes.co.uk/documents/uploads/brochures/FirsParkBrochureWEB.pdf3 points

It's all BS. Makes folk 'think' they are getting something special and makes them feel more elite. I cannot abide this 'designer' food where it all looks nice and pretty on your plate but there's hardly any of it.. yet costs 10x more than it should.3 points

People who are on the internet trawling speedway sites 24/7 know who the line-up is. But there are actually less-sad people out there who have a life outside of speedway, and don't spend every hour November to February trying in seek out every morsel of information in the hope of hearing some item of minutiae before someone else. Announcing 7 riders one-by-one gives 7 separate news items in the local press, and 7 different chances to catch the eye of the casual viewer. Heaven forbid that a non-fan just happens to see an item in a newspaper in January/February about the signing of a new speedway rider for the upcoming season and thinks "hmmmm I might go along and see what that's all about"3 points

No he is just a disgruntled 30 something. Wish I could be around if/when he reaches old age.3 points

Like many I want to know the full team but I can understand the drip feed approach. Last week the announcement of Worrall resulted in a sizeable article in the local press. This week's announcements will probably do likewise and so will the remaining announcements. From the clubs point of view that is much more publicity than they would have received from announcing everyone at once.3 points

Morris was the better rider in the UK last season. There isn't even an argument to say he wasn't. When you delve a little the difference was even bigger. Kurtz Home Average 8.36 8.80 (with bp) Away Average 7.58 8.00 (with bp) Morris Home Average 8.94 (9.50 with bp) Away Average 8.61 (9.33 with bp) Morris is convincingly better than Kurtz on away tracks where he posted an average only slightly below his home one. Another significant factor is Kurtz's figures are inflated from riding 11 home meetings to only 8 away. Morris on the other hand has 13 home meetings and 14 away. Reality is the gap is bigger than the on paper figures show.3 points

Don't know what will happen, but Championship clubs should not be affected by Premiership deciding to let Swindon do as they please.3 points
-
So you would think Kurtz would have gained more bonus points than Morris to keep his average down.Last season Kurtz got 11BP whilst Morris got a staggering 28BP.3 points

Dont forget that when we removed the senior admission rate at Coventry we reduced the price of adult admission as well as allowing all children in free. It did increase overall attendance.3 points

i see the poole gala dinner has been announced for the seventy years of speedway at poole £80 per head i think that rules out genuine supporters who go every week3 points

THE real issue is not so much when a rider challenges the obvious illegality of the asset and loan system but when a promoter is prepared to break the mould and simply sign a rider who is out of contract regardless of the consequences.2 points

It isn’t “stupid” at all! Everyone has their own way of doing things there isn’t a right or wrong way to do it. Chris Louis actually commented when he revealed the Ipswich 1-7, that although some clubs like to drip feed, he much prefers to do a full 1-7 reveal as soon as the signatures are on the contracts. That’s his prerogative and works best for HIM. Just because your promoter/Club prefers to drip feed, doesn’t mean the way Chris Louis prefers to do it is “stupid” There’s so much to be done over the winter that Louis prefers to get the team side of things out the way as soon as possible, and then concentrate on the business side of things like sponsorship etc. Each to their own.2 points

You are making no sense at all. NICK MORRIS WAS BETTER THAN BRADY KURTZ IN THE UK IN 2017!!!!!!!!!!!!! You even agree Morris was 'better at scoring points' thus surely making him better last season!!! 2018 is all about opinion but to keep saying Brady is better than Morris over here is laughable2 points
-
GSA is based on points scored. Doesn't mean the rider is better. "Better" is subjective. Nobody is saying that Morris wasn't better at scoring points...2 points

Of course there is. Achieving a higher GSA doesn't mean he was the better rider, it just means he achieved a higher GSA.2 points

And when meeting Kurtz in heats last season, consistently beat him. Not conjecture - fact!2 points

Very clever use of the word "their" when we really know that it's an enquiry for yourself2 points

Guess its down to lifestyle? A nice evening meal out to a good standard restaurant will cost around £2-240 for 2 of us with wine. So 160 a couple seems ok providing the quality is there. I was in Padstow recently with a client and lunch cost £180 at Rick Steins restaurant. I guess some people on here think a Harvester or Beefeater is quality eating out!2 points

With the amount of posts you have made,I was sure you were of pensionable age ? Strange that2 points

If a track has to go to Swindon on a Thursday and they have riders that also have a Championship meeting that night, surely the Premiership clubs have to get priority otherwise this is a big advantage for Swindon facing depleted teams2 points

The problem with generalisations is that they are subjective. If you take all statistics and mean averages into account you will almost certainly end up with only one person whose situation exactly reflects the result of those statistics and averages. Everybody is influenced by their own personal needs and circumstances and priorities especially when it comes to leisure expenditure. To apply fairness into senior admission discounts promoters would have to apply a means test system, which rightly without doubt would infuriate people and lose even more supporters. Naturally everybody has to judge for themselves the values that they apply to the admission prices.2 points

I find this incredible that some Poole fans can be that daft not to see facts! 2017 Brady Kurtz was not as good as Nick Morris in the top flight. There is no discussion on this its fact 2018 Brady Kurtz has the potential to be as good if not better than Morris is over here. You cant compare what they do abroad unless your Steve Shovlar who is saying Brady is better in Poland but yet thinks it doesnt matter that Tungate beat Kurtz in the Aussie champs! If your team building you may well have Kurtz as his average is nearly a point lower and his will go up you would think and Morris may stay the same. I agree Brady may go on to better things than Morris but at the moment IN THE UK Morris is simply better than Kurtz.......you cant argue that.2 points
-
No, as the reduction in adult admission price outweighed the increase in senior admission as there was, contary to popular opinion, always many more paying adults than seniors. Increasing income wasnt the point of the exercise though, it was to encourage parents to come and bring their children, and it succeeded in that aim.2 points

I love coming on here to cheer myself up....it makes me realise that speedway fans must have some of the cleanest windows of any sports fans.2 points

Assumed Iversen. We do know. Ivan won 6 world titles when the opposition were probably stronger. Ivan was totally professional throughout his career. Darcy was indeed naturally gifted but lacked the professionalism.2 points

Unfortunately in my view topics like these are raised not for a general discussion but through resentment that some get a benefit not available to others.2 points

Here you go again SCB. You really must be a very bitter person. You are right when you say that a hell of a lot of Pensioners are well of, some of them very well off. However the obverse is also true. There are also a hell of a lot of Pensioners who are not very well off, are indeed very, very poor. Some can afford Speedway every week, but others will inevitably not be able to, and it seems that you want to make them even worse off. I doubt if there are many very well off Pensioners who attend Speedway that often so you are actually having a go at the poorer ones. Shame on you!!! You are either very bitter, very jealous or very selfish or maybe a combination of all three. Shame on you!!!2 points
-
...trouble is SCB has a fixation about ageism and raises the issue over and over again. Gets a bit tiresome after awhile.2 points

Hope Matt announces the 2 last riders soon. I think the Morris/Kurtz point has been debated near enough to death now. We need something new to talk about1 point
-
Do explain how he managed to achieve a higher GSA? Next you'll be suggesting Jason Doyle isn't World Champion. Just because he scored more GP pts doesn't make him better! Let's do away with 3pts for winning a race.. just because you won the race doesn't make you better in that race..1 point
-
Yet the same duo will still claim Kurtz is better. As comical as it is. At least we are all clear that Morris is the better of the 2 in the UK. Glad that's sorted.1 point

What I'm paying to be out of the country that week would more than pay for a whole table plus champagne!!!!!1 point

Those are the facts, feel free to disagree with them. Doyle had a higher top flight in the UK than Lindgren, was he the better rider in the UK last year? Well yes. (Separate argument about their top flight career versus their GP career) Holder had a higher top flight average in the UK than Kasprzak, was he the better rider in the UK last year? Obviously. (Separate argument ditto above) Morris had a higher top flight average in the UK than Kurtz, was he the better rider Inn the UK last year? Obviously again yes ( separate argument that one is a few years older, longer top flight career versus a fledging one). Either way I'm sure you will argue against the facts. And you will be wrong again.1 point
-
I agree with SCB on some points but to turn his argument on it's head why should children get in free or at a reduced rate. Presumably their parents chose to have them with all associated costs so why should working childless people subsidise them. Dont say they are the future because without the present OAPs on their reduced admission there will be no future1 point
-
Then i don't know how you missed it to be honest. Its was talked about on various speedway Facebook groups and it got 18 retweets on Twitter which by having a quick look was more than the Chris Holder signing for Poole tweet. It was reported in the local media too. It was also on this thread and you initially somehow managed to miss it.1 point
