He wasn't wrong. As regards the signing of Cook, can't for the life of me think of any reason why Belle Vue wouldn't want to sign him. He is passionate and puts his heart and soul into racing for the club. The kind of rider you LOVE to have in your side. He may not make a successful GP rider (then again he might) but the sport would be in a better place if there were more Craig Cooks in it.13 points

It shouldve been - This is the structure - which league (if any) do you wish to run in And I say this as an Ipswich fan. If the revised structure was genuinely to improve the overall future of British Speedway then it should be fit in or ship out.6 points

It isn't very entertaining being beaten every week! Crowds tend to dwindle when your not winning.5 points

They are clearly running scared. If Sundstrom and Shanes are the final two, Poole will have a powerhouse team which would be stronger than any completed team so far. Comparing Swindons team, which if I am honest looks a bit flat and lacklustre, to Pooles is like comparing a two day open bottle of Lambrusco with a couple of extinguished fags floating on top, (Swindon) to a chilled bottle of Krug. As far as I can see, only TWO clubs do not have their No. 1's named. Peterborough and Newcastle, so of course you'll both want the rule to change and bugg*r the other Nine other clubs who may have wanted to sign Scott Nicholls. I for one hope it stays the same with NO rule change to penalise the clubs who have full team and serves you right for hanging on !!!!4 points

Poole didn't 'push for Mondays/Wednesdays' - they only suggested it when 2 of the 3 Championship Thursday tracks threatened to pull out and not to run!!! Tail wagging the dog yet again in British speedway.3 points

The Championship clubs who didn't act in the best interests of speedway as a whole have a lot to answer for.3 points

Explain how that comment applies to Newcastle. We have not known if we were even running till just before Xmas, therefore not able to even talk to most targets, but some riders pledged their allegiance to us in those circumstances in the hope we ran. Thank you Ash Morris, Stuey Robson and others to be announced. I wonder if it is because it is Newcastle why you made that stupid statement.3 points

I thought those reductions were only due when seasons were missed through injury and 'cant be arsed' isnt an injury in my book2 points

I would have thought Linus would be available on a 6.64 average due to the fact he hasn't raced here since 2012 when he got his 7.22 average. 8% discount should apply same as Mateusz.2 points

Winning is number one priority. Full stop. A winning team will bring in a crowd. Losing every week 44-46 might be entertaining for a few but the crowds soon vanish. That goes for all clubs.2 points

No he shouldn't. It doesn't matter if he was exciting. Putting together a team that will win is first priority.2 points

I think it’s the opposite and don’t think Danny will ride in the championship this year I think he will concentrate on NL and getting himself a full years racing and don’t think he can fit in at stoke his ave too high for what they have left2 points

so you say ! we would not have nicholls back after he had a so called race with richard lawson and i think rusty .(laws put him into the weeds) claimed it was too cold to race and didnt do the third race . promised to come back and finish the job , but never did . took the money and fecked off . every time we see him on bt sport , we all abuse at him . Are there no mods on this site. Reading the last three pages to catch up with all the BV news all I find is Wolves, Swindon and, of course, Poole. Why bother having team threads at all, just have two - Poole and one where all the usual numpties can insult each other. Very poor Forum, mods non-existent.2 points

Time for GB, Sweden and Denmark to play hardball with Poland. If the PZM do not relax their rule over riders, then the three countries should basically ban their riders from riding in Poland until the issue is resolved. Probably illegal but probably no more illegal than what the Poles are doing.2 points

FORMER British Youth Champion Jack Parkinson-Blackburn will take the No.1 position for Coventry’s 2018 National League campaign. The Bees have been confirmed as members of the sport’s third tier with home matches to take place on Sundays at Leicester’s Beaumont Park Stadium as they are unable to race at their traditional Brandon venue. Parkinson-Blackburn, 17, is regarded as one of the biggest rising stars of the sport and advanced rapidly from reserve newcomer to No.1 during two successful years with rivals Birmingham. He won all six rounds of the 2015 British 500cc Youth series before entering full-time league racing, and this year he also has a team place in the SGB Championship with Glasgow. At the other end of the experience range, the Bees will be captained by veteran racer Jon Armstrong, who remains a major force at NL level at the age of 43. Armstrong won a host of honours during recent spells with Mildenhall, and in fact had a spell with Coventry way back in 1993 when they were competing in the former British League Division One. Promoter Mick Horton said: “Our team is built, and we’ll be announcing all of the riders over the next couple of weeks. I feel it will be very competitive and the riders are all very keen to make their mark. “I’m delighted to be able to bring in Jack as No.1. He has a big reputation in the sport already, and deservedly so, and I’m confident he will be able to meet the expectations of his role in the team. “To have Jon as captain is also great news for the team. I’ve been in close contact with him over the winter so far, discussing riders and planning ahead, and this is a move which will also give him a new lease of life in the sport.” Horton has added his thanks to the speedway authorities who have sanctioned the club’s move to Leicester as a temporary home. The Bees had to sit out the 2017 season after a complex stadium dispute at Brandon followed by ultimately unsuccessful efforts to remain in the SGB Premiership by racing at Leicester. Horton said: “After all our troubles off the track, it is with huge satisfaction that both the BSPA and the SCB have given their full support to my quest of keeping the Coventry Bees racing. “I would also like to thank both Damien and Marc Bates for their help in allowing us to race at Leicester this season. “Until such time as a satisfactory resolution is found to re-home the Bees in the Rugby/Coventry area, it is so important that we all come together and support the Bees riders on track. “The riders representing our club this season are fully aware of the honour to put on a Bees race-jacket and I know they will not let us down. “Please come along on Sunday afternoons and enjoy the speedway. I am under no illusions that racing at Leicester will be easy; however, I know we must keep the famous Bees name alive and racing. With the fans’ support, we can achieve this.” Admission prices for the 2018 season have been set at £13 for adults with under-16s free of charge. A free racecard will be included with admission, with the fixture list to be confirmed in due course. Bees compete in a ten-team National League alongside Belle Vue, Birmingham, Buxton, Eastbourne, Isle of Wight, Kent, Mildenhall, Plymouth and Stoke. Additionally they are part of a National Trophy group featuring Birmingham, Buxton, Cradley and Stoke, whilst the quarter-final draw of the KO Cup has seen them paired with the winners of the first-round tie between Eastbourne and the Isle of Wight.2 points

He may have been second in your averages but he rode at number 4 for a lot of the results I have just looked at - which I think is the point that is being made.2 points

So you think every King's Lynn fan should say well that side looks great can't wait to the start of the season the play/offs here we come.!!!!!!You need to get real five months to build a side the communication side of thing's from the club has been atrocious and anyone can see that side will struggle without changes i hope i am wrong though.2 points

Write to me at Speedwayontheisland@yahoo.co.uk and I will be delighted to send you and yours a family ticket to experience the Warrior Way with us in 2018. If at the end of it you dont like it, or feel we can improve it (this is always possible) then tell me, but if you and yours like it, shake my hand to visit your local track or us again. All the best Barry (Co-promoter IOW)2 points

No one likes being on the receiving end of these kind of comments Laurence, but best to ignore them and just crack on with the job in hand. Best wishes for a successful association with the Brummies. You did a good job under difficult circumstances at Bordesley Green all those years ago so it's good to have you back on the right side of the pits again!1 point

As a Swindon fan this is the last thing I want. Ive been losing a little bit of interest each year for a while and depleted teams and RR is the main reason for that. Last year was tedious watching the same riders guest for a different team 3 or 4 times.1 point

There will be an announcement soon (according to Danny on both Twitter & Facebook) to say that he has signed for a team. It didn't say in which league, though. He had signed a week or two ago, but couldn't say who for (again, that was on Twitter/Facebook).1 point

Yes, I checked it after I posted and saw he did not fit in now. I can't remember where I read now, but it was only a couple of weeks ago, and I took heart that he was thinking he was fit enough ro ride, and had signed for someone. In anycase, I don't think anybody would sign him until he actually rides and convinces people that he is ft enough to start the season.1 point

They mainly had four races then though and bonus points were on averages pkus the number ones only ever met in heat one1 point

in the "good old days" teams had 3 heatleaders averaging 10, 9, 8, a couple of 6 point second strings, and reserves - there's no way on this earth things should be compared to now1 point

on what grounds would a new promotor NOT be accepted you only have to look at most promotors and if you dig deep enough you can find a dark past . money laundering, drugs, and dare i say it . two promotors trying to pull a fast one over the rest of u.k. speedway . now they want sympathy for not having a no 1 . i am sure the bent bspa/scb will bend the rules for the remaining two clubs and sod the ones who didnt have a chance to go for nicholls/kennet or any other available prem rider . but speedway goes on , JUST .1 point

Nicki Pedersen available to ride in Britain as he is only signed up in Denmark, Poland and the GPs and while he doesn't live here anymore, it's the same for some others who fly in, ride then move on to the next meeting. Has certainly got himself fit again and wants to prove he is still at the top of his game and possibly the best signing Kings Lynn could make to attract visiting or new fans with the right marketing.1 point

Yawn. Either get on and sign Shanes or let another club have him. He shouldn’t be stuck in the middle of this.1 point

Hello Everyone, I has struck me that this is one of the finest medium in which to communicate to the speedway community so I would like to offer you or your business an opportunity to get involved with the 2018 Wightlink Warriors. Hopefully you will have read about the club and how we promote speedway on the Island. We truly believe in this sport of our, we believe in our riders, in its community and educational values, as well as being the best entertainment and fun around. We know we are fortunate. Hardwork, delivery of promises and a strong community ethos has helped us achieve a strong sponsorship backing and as we continue to improve the stadium, the track, our community, as well as the goodtime feel about speedway, we know we cannot afford not to offer you all the opportunity to get involved with the club no matter how big or small. It's always valued and always welcomed. So if the Warriors, or Wizards, could be for you please reach out on here or via speedwayontheisland@yahoo.co.uk and we can discuss what we can do together. Come be a Warrior in 2018, sponsorship is great, rewarding and works both ways. Thank you and no matter who you shout for in 2018, have a great season. See you trackside. Barry1 point

The big plus of targeting kids is simply their parents take them and pay to get in.. Kiddie pressure to go somewhere they like is something I and millions of others know only too well to our (literally) cost......!! There is only so much disposable income a family has for 'entertainment' so very often 'the kids' will dictate the place to visit... Obviously you would want to target all demographics to attend the Sport but targeting kids would I would suggest bring the biggest and fastest return on your investment... Look at Mcdonald's and Burger King, they have two very different customer profiles and advertise themselves accordingly. McDonald's target the kids through parties as well as advertising (at great length and cost), how '100% natural chicken breast' their nuggets are, and Burger King target the adult market through pushing 'taste' , 'quality', and 'size' of Burgers (eg flame grilled Whopper etc)... Now look at the huge disparate success of each business.... I would suggest Mcdonald's know which demographic makes them the most money and targets them accordingly... What Speedway does miss for me is the huge opportunities that treating EVERY meeting as an EVENT would bring. For many tracks 500 more punters a night would see them in profit... To do that you don't need the same 500, any random 500 each week will do... If some stay and become regulars then great, if not there is a huge catchment area of thousands around most tracks that have never even heard of the Sport on their doorstep.. Don't spend £3000 a match on a No1 who whether there or not hardly has any impact to the crowd level as the locals 'wouldnt know him from Adam', instead spend half that a week employing someone who can get the locals into the stadiums!!1 point
