  1. He wasn't wrong. As regards the signing of Cook, can't for the life of me think of any reason why Belle Vue wouldn't want to sign him. He is passionate and puts his heart and soul into racing for the club. The kind of rider you LOVE to have in your side. He may not make a successful GP rider (then again he might) but the sport would be in a better place if there were more Craig Cooks in it.

  2. It shouldve been - This is the structure - which league (if any) do you wish to run in And I say this as an Ipswich fan. If the revised structure was genuinely to improve the overall future of British Speedway then it should be fit in or ship out.

  3. It isn't very entertaining being beaten every week! Crowds tend to dwindle when your not winning.

  4. They are clearly running scared. If Sundstrom and Shanes are the final two, Poole will have a powerhouse team which would be stronger than any completed team so far. Comparing Swindons team, which if I am honest looks a bit flat and lacklustre, to Pooles is like comparing a two day open bottle of Lambrusco with a couple of extinguished fags floating on top, (Swindon) to a chilled bottle of Krug. (Poole)

  6. As far as I can see, only TWO clubs do not have their No. 1's named. Peterborough and Newcastle, so of course you'll both want the rule to change and bugg*r the other Nine other clubs who may have wanted to sign Scott Nicholls. I for one hope it stays the same with NO rule change to penalise the clubs who have full team and serves you right for hanging on !!!!

  7. Poole didn't 'push for Mondays/Wednesdays' - they only suggested it when 2 of the 3 Championship Thursday tracks threatened to pull out and not to run!!! Tail wagging the dog yet again in British speedway.

  8. The Championship clubs who didn't act in the best interests of speedway as a whole have a lot to answer for.

  9. Explain how that comment applies to Newcastle. We have not known if we were even running till just before Xmas, therefore not able to even talk to most targets, but some riders pledged their allegiance to us in those circumstances in the hope we ran. Thank you Ash Morris, Stuey Robson and others to be announced. I wonder if it is because it is Newcastle why you made that stupid statement.

  12. I would have thought Linus would be available on a 6.64 average due to the fact he hasn't raced here since 2012 when he got his 7.22 average. 8% discount should apply same as Mateusz.

  14. Winning is number one priority. Full stop. A winning team will bring in a crowd. Losing every week 44-46 might be entertaining for a few but the crowds soon vanish. That goes for all clubs.

  15. No he shouldn't. It doesn't matter if he was exciting. Putting together a team that will win is first priority.

  16. I think it’s the opposite and don’t think Danny will ride in the championship this year I think he will concentrate on NL and getting himself a full years racing and don’t think he can fit in at stoke his ave too high for what they have left

  20. Are there no mods on this site. Reading the last three pages to catch up with all the BV news all I find is Wolves, Swindon and, of course, Poole. Why bother having team threads at all, just have two - Poole and one where all the usual numpties can insult each other. Very poor Forum, mods non-existent.

  22. Time for GB, Sweden and Denmark to play hardball with Poland. If the PZM do not relax their rule over riders, then the three countries should basically ban their riders from riding in Poland until the issue is resolved. Probably illegal but probably no more illegal than what the Poles are doing.

  23. FORMER British Youth Champion Jack Parkinson-Blackburn will take the No.1 position for Coventry’s 2018 National League campaign. The Bees have been confirmed as members of the sport’s third tier with home matches to take place on Sundays at Leicester’s Beaumont Park Stadium as they are unable to race at their traditional Brandon venue. Parkinson-Blackburn, 17, is regarded as one of the biggest rising stars of the sport and advanced rapidly from reserve newcomer to No.1 during two successful years with rivals Birmingham. He won all six rounds of the 2015 British 500cc Youth series before entering full-time league racing, and this year he also has a team place in the SGB Championship with Glasgow. At the other end of the experience range, the Bees will be captained by veteran racer Jon Armstrong, who remains a major force at NL level at the age of 43. Armstrong won a host of honours during recent spells with Mildenhall, and in fact had a spell with Coventry way back in 1993 when they were competing in the former British League Division One. Promoter Mick Horton said: “Our team is built, and we’ll be announcing all of the riders over the next couple of weeks. I feel it will be very competitive and the riders are all very keen to make their mark. “I’m delighted to be able to bring in Jack as No.1. He has a big reputation in the sport already, and deservedly so, and I’m confident he will be able to meet the expectations of his role in the team. “To have Jon as captain is also great news for the team. I’ve been in close contact with him over the winter so far, discussing riders and planning ahead, and this is a move which will also give him a new lease of life in the sport.” Horton has added his thanks to the speedway authorities who have sanctioned the club’s move to Leicester as a temporary home. The Bees had to sit out the 2017 season after a complex stadium dispute at Brandon followed by ultimately unsuccessful efforts to remain in the SGB Premiership by racing at Leicester. Horton said: “After all our troubles off the track, it is with huge satisfaction that both the BSPA and the SCB have given their full support to my quest of keeping the Coventry Bees racing. “I would also like to thank both Damien and Marc Bates for their help in allowing us to race at Leicester this season. “Until such time as a satisfactory resolution is found to re-home the Bees in the Rugby/Coventry area, it is so important that we all come together and support the Bees riders on track. “The riders representing our club this season are fully aware of the honour to put on a Bees race-jacket and I know they will not let us down. “Please come along on Sunday afternoons and enjoy the speedway. I am under no illusions that racing at Leicester will be easy; however, I know we must keep the famous Bees name alive and racing. With the fans’ support, we can achieve this.” Admission prices for the 2018 season have been set at £13 for adults with under-16s free of charge. A free racecard will be included with admission, with the fixture list to be confirmed in due course. Bees compete in a ten-team National League alongside Belle Vue, Birmingham, Buxton, Eastbourne, Isle of Wight, Kent, Mildenhall, Plymouth and Stoke. Additionally they are part of a National Trophy group featuring Birmingham, Buxton, Cradley and Stoke, whilst the quarter-final draw of the KO Cup has seen them paired with the winners of the first-round tie between Eastbourne and the Isle of Wight.

So you think every King's Lynn fan should say well that side looks great can't wait to the start of the season the play/offs here we come.!!!!!!You need to get real five months to build a side the communication side of thing's from the club has been atrocious and anyone can see that side will struggle without changes i hope i am wrong though.

If at the end of it you dont like it, or feel we can improve it (this is always possible) then tell me, but if you and yours like it, shake my hand to visit your local track or us again. 30. Hi Sydney, 'So where did it all go wrong? ' such a simple question with so many answers, all from ones opinions, coupled with facts . I have often asked myself , had it not been for my upbringing of motorbikes, would I find today's speedway as appealing as i first experienced going to the Firs at Norwich all them years ago. acknowledging that time sometimes distorts the facts, but I can vividly recall those special nights... Living some 60 mls from Norwich meant an early departure, sometimes missing tea. The journey was log and tiresome, travelling in an old A35 along a narrow and bendy A47 always seemed a long way. The place was always heaving with car parking a premium . We usually arrived plenty early. As the start time got near so the shouting got louder, orchestrated by the man in the middle. " 1-4; 2-4; who the hell are we 4.;; N O R WI C H " everyone appeared to join in. The atmosphere was electric , even when the racing had stopped the buzz from the crowd was still evident... Everybody was happy and chatting away and each with a smile on the face. Strange part of all this, I can easily recall the occasions, but the actual racing becomes blurred with time. The vision I have, is everything was dark, the Leathers, the shale, the stadium , even the fans were dressed in dark coats and hats. even the token floodlights added to the atmosphere with everyone trying to get a better vantage point. Being part of it was all that mattered.... That smell would linger for days.. It was like we were the privileged ones to experience something so special... For 3 yrs we never missed a home meeting , each day was counted down until we went again. We had a good team Ove Fundin, Aub Lawson Billy Bales even a very young Terry Betts. Mostly we won but the competition was always tight. Results were not decided until those final heats meaning nobody left early. The journey home was just as tiresome, and it was gone midnight before we got to bed. Thankfully we always recovered with that Sunday morning lay-in. Jumping now to modern times, I can leave home with 20 mins to start time, and be back in by 10pm Car parking is not a problem, the place is usually empty and we have a choice where to stand, Light is plentiful and colours are so evident. The racing is ... ... faster and competition more spaced out. usually results are predicable, but not always.. What I miss most is the lack of connections, both with riders and the club, its as though we don't matter and are taken for granted. The biggest gripe I have is that the BSPA have concentrated all their efforts to keep the top riders here at the expense of everything else.... Excitement, and entertainment are in short supply. VFM is questionable and affordability borders on the line of madness. But they still never listen to the fans......... So to answer my original question, would the sport appeal to me like it did in them early days, I'm' afraid the answer would be a definite no...

  33. It's not about winning every match, but you should aim to win every home match. The home match is where you get your customers and where you take your money. The best teams in the league are the ones that can pull off the away win. The home match is about satisfying the home crowd, and although you need the occasional few losses to make the wins that much sweeter, you still need a team that is winning regularly to put the bums on the seats. Honestly I think some of the "die hards" in this sport live in cloud cuckoo land. This is a competitive sport, driven by money. We can't fund the sport on kisses and cuddles and sweet thoughts. Just because you'll turn up come rain or shine, doesn't mean the vast majority will, and whilst the vast majority are paying the bills it's important they are kept happy. So, to my original point, James Shanes is not the top priority and there is nothing wrong with that.

  35. Swindon fans seem more concerned about the Poole team than most Poole fans, maybe their team is boring?? If not, then why are they soooo interested? Also maybe James would rather ride for Poole than BV??

  37. on what grounds would a new promotor NOT be accepted you only have to look at most promotors and if you dig deep enough you can find a dark past . money laundering, drugs, and dare i say it . two promotors trying to pull a fast one over the rest of u.k. speedway . now they want sympathy for not having a no 1 . i am sure the bent bspa/scb will bend the rules for the remaining two clubs and sod the ones who didnt have a chance to go for nicholls/kennet or any other available prem rider . but speedway goes on , JUST .

  38. I’m glad to hear he is fit but I think Danny would be a big risk after such a big crash and a bad injury ! some rides are never the same or take months to get their confidence back

  39. The difference is you still have the same promoters that were in position last year. No changes. On the other hand, last years promotion has had to be dissolved, and a new company is in the process of still being set up. Until things were certain that we were going to get acceptance and be able to run, we were not really in a position to formally sign anybody in case things didn't work out. But I am sure you knew that anyway. Thanks for your concern.

  40. Nicki Pedersen has signed in Sweden so he isn’t available.

  41. Nicki Pedersen available to ride in Britain as he is only signed up in Denmark, Poland and the GPs and while he doesn't live here anymore, it's the same for some others who fly in, ride then move on to the next meeting. Has certainly got himself fit again and wants to prove he is still at the top of his game and possibly the best signing Kings Lynn could make to attract visiting or new fans with the right marketing.

  42. What a rude person you are. I'm sorry if my opinion differs to yours, but that is no reason to start calling people names.... That says far more about you than it does me. For fifty odd years i have witnessed these assembled teams, so I feel I am qualified to voice an opinion. Realistic to the end, i always try to be positive, but in this instance you would have to your head buried not to see what's been put in front of you. Of all the teams and names announced so far, ours must rank amongst the worse. Take Niels out, and we wouldn't be good enough to win the 2nd division. Disappointed, you bet.... At least, in them good ole days we were in with a shout,.

  47. Looks Like 2 Heat Leaders and 5 2nd strings is how we will line-up. Works for me... Lets perhaps leave the glass half empty ideals until we get 3/4 meetings into the season and see how we pitch up against what else is on offer. Can see improvement coming from the likes of Rose and Lambert, only need maybe one other to step up and we could be onto something.

  48. Slightly off the main subject but some years ago my brother and I "press ganged" our late mother to come with us to see our team Brentford then in Division 3 or 4. She came but showed total disinterest and sat on the terraces reading a book. Just before half time she suddenly looked up and said" which team is Arsenal?"
