A terrible precedent that was set a few years ago when Poole called off a meeting against Lakeside as it would affect their planned team changes.6 points

On my hour long walk to work at 4:50 (to Wolverhampton) this morning, the contents of approximately 1400 showers emptied themselves over me on said walk. I was convinced this was rain as it was so wet. However, after consulting with a wonderful thing called technology, this assured me that in fact, this was not the case & I was clearly mistaken. Hope that clears things up.5 points

Godden engines have been around since 1978. This hasn’t just been thrown together, it’s a continuation of development since the mk1. I love the fact that there’s certain people willing to shoot this down without knowing what they’re talking about. Youre online, go and find out some facts about what’s going on before coming on here and making yourself look stupid.4 points

A sample of the summer surrender due to football's World Cup and BSI events: Jun/July scheduled SGBP/KOC meetings: Belle Vue: - 3x SGBP - + Britishb Final & Speedway of Nations (World Pairs) qualifier King's Lynn: 4 (3 July, only 1 in June) Leicester: 4 (+ 4 reserved dates) Poole: 5 Rye House: 4 (+1 junior championship) Somerset: 6 (+ SGBC Pairs) Swindon: 6 (+1 reserved date) Wolverhampton: 3 Given that the survey covers about 9 weeks in many cases it's grim reading. Then we get the rush in August/early September so that four tracks can close nearly two months before the official end of the season.3 points

Hopefully all clubs promotions will now look into the forum as regards future postponements. If they can contact Steve Shovlar he will tell them exactly what the weather will do 48 hrs prior to each and every clubs home matches. He will detail exactly whether any rain will hit any tracks in those 48 hrs.And on this evidence clubs will know 100% whether to postpone or not.So thanks must go to SS for saving speedway a small fortune in the future.3 points

Please don't assume all Poole supporters are this arrogant, sometimes afraid to admit who I support.3 points

Plenty of dirt for the riders to collect and use to garden at the gate. Imagine out the pits onto the motoX track to the highest point wave to the crowd collect a bucket of dirt while your up there and then off to the starting gate to deposit the dirt in your selected rut ( while maintaining full control of the bike at all times)2 points

We could have had Jack back looks a steal on his current average but Matt Ford didn't want him back this season. I think Newman is good value on his average too but there are reasons why those two arnt back and its got nothing to do with their ability on a bike2 points

We've just been overhauling these fixtures; and because of the way it all falls into place (ie; where we will be geographically on certain days) baring a rain off we don't miss a single fixture Home or Away until potentially ? - 23 June Lakeside Away - and we might end up there as well ? !. Cannot remember a Speedway season where we have felt this "motivated" not to miss a single second ! "SCUNNY GRAND TOUR" - gets underway Friday "under the lights" v Redcar ! - blooming 'ummer this is exciting !2 points

You just cant make up the garbage that comes from Shovlar, including now telling people from Wolves that it was dry yesterday! Seem to remember pre season last year KK - best number one in the league Klindt - best reserve in the league Kurtz and Holder - new turbo twins Newman - Mr Poole and he beat Tai as well , could end up a heatleader How did that all turn out lol This season there are doubts over the Poles, Linus and already Holder has gone awol. Love the crowing about the team this season..................exactly like last year and that went spectacularly wrong.2 points

You really wonder why they have closed down the Unofficial Forum , its not rocket science the same couple of people using it for slanging abuse to the promotion . There's ways and means of getting your point across without starting doing the same on this Forum as well . Pop yourself along to the office and take jenga with you , for gods sake , we have only had 1 meeting and you're off all ready. We approached Steve in the bar afterwards and made our point known about the food . If people had gone to the Meet the Riders/management meeting they would have known about the new ticket system, programme prices . We all have opinions /pay our money but the continuous slating is just getting tiresome !!2 points

So Poole fans actually know more about the weather in Wolverhampton than people who live in .... Wolverhampton ? What a strange bunch2 points

We are not all mouthy gobs as you put here at Poole thank you ps there is a lot off speedway between now and October win or lose so let's enjoy it2 points

You tell me? As far as I can see there is no need for umbrella girls in motorsport. They do not add anything other then embarrassment. In F1, from what I have read, the original use was for them to hold umbrellas to shield the drivers from sun or rain. F1 have come to the conclusion that such service is no longer required. The only "use" the umbrella girls have in speedway is eye candy for old men and teenage boys i.e. no real use at all. I have yet to see a valid argument regarding what the umbrella girls add to a speedway meeting. We don't have them in the Swedish leagues and we do just fine without them. Our spectators comes to the meeting to watch speedway racing not umbrella girls.2 points

Unfortunately I'm not quite old enough to remember Michael Lee in his initial spell at Lynn, I was three when he became World Champion and would have been going regularly then but can't really recollect much before 1983 and those memories are mainly of Richard Hellsen. Of course I can remember his two ill fated comebacks but by then he was a shadow of his former self. My first proper hero was Henka in the early nineties, he was unbelievable at times round Lynn particularly in 1993 when he had some seriously fast kit. I've never seen anybody overtake quite like him since and probably won't again.1 point

To be fair Matt stuck to his words from mid-season that he would be replacing up to 5 riders - and he's done exactly that for this season.1 point

The worrying thing is that you believe everything that you say, wouldn't it of been better to say look i am happy with the team assembled and that you are very hopeful and leave it at that As I have said endless times before you are not a spokesperson for Poole and with all this tripe you squeal it makes it very awkward for the good and genuine Poole fans out there and there are a lot of those.1 point

I understand the views about the vulnerability of the new young riders, but it is my opinion that most of the fault lies with the BSPA who this year ( and probably in the past too) engineered a silly low team building average making it certain that some teams would have to employ young riders who are not ready. Not all promoters discard riders easily. But they are few and far between.. If this year the points average would have been a healthy 42.5 then all the capable riders now without team places would have a job while some of the no hopers at 6 & 7 would still be attending training schools where they belong.1 point

Not a wheel turned and already crowing - some things never change! The magnificent 7?? - that made me laugh! It doesn't matter how good they look (and don't know how relevant looks are - Kurtz is a ginger ) it is how they perform on track that is important . Over confident as usual!1 point

In all my years with this sport I cannot remember an Easter period with so many washed-out meetings and still continuing to rain. Looks like Kent have shut shop till the end of April with neither of the weekend meetings being re-arranged on the spare Mondays of this month. Not so good for the less experienced riders who really would benefit from these challenge matches, big shame.1 point

Looks like even the base has washed away - note the inside kerb floating The rain only got heavier in the last 2 days so in that picture the track is probably significantly better than it is now!! No way of getting that into shape for Thursday even if we had 2 days of sunshine and a 30° heatwave IMO1 point

i think a lot of comment on here were justified as the food and drink at both outlets were beyond belief . we , as human beings EXPECT to pay for consumable items that are bought from any retailer . these items were not fit for purpose . ie . to be consumed . its the fact that it was known to the management just after the meeting finished and there was no feedback from anyone involved . i go to speedway to be entertained , not poisoned . the speedway was good being the first meeting . crowd looked okay . but on a cold night . why the late start . dust un bends 1 moved the regulars from their normal perch . Scaramanga and myself are prolific posters on this forum and will prob continue to be that . but the main thing is , is that we go week in , week out .rain or shine . . without our posts , this workington forum would be dead. you will always get certain posters on forums most all of the time , its what they do . people are entitled to air their views and in the hope that someone of higher stature takes notice , replies to the post and reacts in a way by sorting the problem out . cooking food is in the hands of the cooks . making a decent cuppa should be in the hands of a KETTLE . then you know its should be okay to consume a 12 yr old could make better drinks . Saturday . Glasgow down on Saturday . they like to enjoy themselves , spend money and go home happy lets see if we can make a killing while they are down ,cash wise and keep it right in months to come . the return of my old mate . will he do a bach and ride like a demon or turn up and break tapes . so they closed the unofficial site down. so it did not have tech issues ?the core of speedway fans @ workington are just that . the core , . without the core , there is no apple to enjoy .1 point

Better than your promotion. Calling off a meeting yesterday when it was dry the best part of the day stinks the sport out. Last nights meeting could easily have run and you know it. Look what they used to ride in. Now I am not advocating a return to riders coming out racing in this, but the slightest threat or possibility of rain in the next few days and the postponed signs go up. Not acceptable.1 point

I'm not particularly opposed to having umbrella girls but to use as an excuse that that is their only role in speedway and without it they'd have none is more degrading than them actually parading up and down. Their role in the sport could be as administrators, as referees, as mechanics or, Heaven forbid, as riders. That's what should be encouraged.1 point

Basically what we have is a group of jealous woman trying to enforce their way on to others and a group of chauvenistic men telling women to 'cover up'. Oh and a group just creeping to the vociferous minority for a bit of attention.1 point

Annoyingly the set days for Premiership were set to be Thursdays but were then changed to Wednesday to appease some Championship clubs. Surely, the top league should have precedence in the matter& teams could have moved up to keep their Thursday spot.1 point

I have to say that Speedway nowadays is much more professional than in the past. And because of that Speedway is too dull . Lets look back 10 years 1- more character in speedways riders from years ago.I was lucky enough to begin my speedway days watching the likes of ANDY Galvin, rob Tilbury ,Kelvin Mullarkey!! Dean Barker,Brett Saunders, sean Wilson,The Kennetts and so on.Most were british and had other jobs, but i would look at the line ups in advance and think to myself "that heat looks tasty" im going to that meeting on what drama could happen on the night.Nowadays its very run of the mill stuff with riders wanting to get on to their next meeting, instead of getting up to do their normal jobs . 2 No Pit phone access. For whatever reason sky stopped listening in on rider/ref talk.you cant beat rider emotions and what they think, and makes for great viewing and then interviewing the rider later. Why they have had to clamp down on this,i just dont know,if i was head of sports and had speedway on my list, the pit phone IS A MUST and has to be one of the first things on the agenda, not cutting it all together.Fans love to see controversy . 3 emotions - Speedway is so correct and polite these days, but when rider bust ups do happen, the clips are shown all over the world!!!! Whats wrong with a bit of hand bags ,it just gets the crowd going .Again i wouldnt fine any rider, just let them sort things out.1 point

And so it begins...... Shovlar saying Wolves will have the advantage lol you couldn’t make it up but it’s exoected. All pre season we hear how Poole will blow the opposition away.......first meeting at home and the opponents have the edge lol. Priceless comedy1 point

Enjoyed watching a couple of the Colts "lesser lights" today, Ben Woodhull & Joe Lawlor. Ben's limited opportunities in BV colours last season triggered many a debate about who was the better of the twins. Great to see him back on board, imo the kid has plenty of ticker & not afraid to get stuck in. Sure to improve with a run in the side. Good to see Joe Lawlor back, got steadily better as the match went on. Look forward to watching him develop this season. For the Bees, Danny Phillips was excellent early doors, good style & lines. Jamie Halder impressed too. Happy to have the Bees back in town, it's a crying shame & a disgrace what's happened, hope to see Cov back in the top league taking on the Aces ASAP.1 point

I said last year that Ford would not be around for much longer in speedway and I was right - just heard he is off to replace Darren Lehmann as Australia coach/manager!!1 point

People aren't daft, they know why the happenings of winter 2010/11 occurred. Ford was made to look very silly on national TV in the Grand Final and by fair means or foul wasn't going to let it happen again. The guy is like a mafia boss, he runs everything from the shadows.1 point

I can only hope that the Swindon Speedway Promotion have alternative plans for a new stadium site as I fear that the stadium as it is now is doomed. Having read the objections raised by Barrett Homes, it is clear that their solicitors have done their homework. They have not only raised objection to the speedway but also to the greyhound racing and car parking & noise emanating from all 3 due to the revised plans. They have made it clear that if the Borough Council do not take steps to alleviate these problems, that both present residents & future residents will have cause to take action against the stadium. It is my opinion that Stadium UK knew what they were doing all along. They changed the stadium location allegedly due to drainage problems, yet they still intend to build houses where the stadium was going to be re-located to. Does new housing not need drainage? Ask Torquay United FC supporters what they think of Stadium UK. They have plans to redevelop that ground since buying the football club & build houses on the site & move the football elsewhere. Unluckily for them though the local authority own the freehold of the ground & are at present refusing their attempt.1 point
