Cheers - sadly having to move to the wilderness that is Norfolk. But no possibility that I'm putting any money into the pockets of that scumbag in the north West of the county.3 points

Exactly. Speedway has changed, to a large extent it has itself to blame for the small crowds and its no longer a sport where riders can just battle through wet conditions to get a meeting on and people have continued on to that. Too many times we have stood around watching the track being sorted after a downpour and then seem the riders either go through the motions or refuse to ride, meetings trying to be run in those conditions don't do anybody any good whatsoever. I believe it's treating today's speedway customer best by giving them as much notice as possible that a meeting won't be on, and as screamer says the riders will appreciate it too.3 points

I think its quite possible the GPs will be a step too far for Cookie, but after the effort he's put into BV, and British speedway in general He certainly deserves his crack at the big boys, wish we had more riders like him3 points

Ipswich riders moaning about track time and looked rusty... meeting all over by 9.10pm ... curfew at 10pm... but not a single Witch used this time to practice kerb crawling. Hopefully just the lack of dirt ... but track changes seem to be for the worse! Peterborough sorted it out.. . Off throttle going into corner and make sure you stay on kerb coming out. All the passes tonight were done this way... And all by the Panthers! Lakeside will love it....2 points

Not guilty m’lud! Came as a surprise to me. But a great choice. I reckon he’ll be motivated to do well. He’s currently brushing up on his Scottish/English/Polish/Danish/Swedish dictionary!2 points

We have not turned a wheel and some people are not happy. I think it is fair that the Redcar fans have a chance to see their team at a reduced price, because the match last season was not up to scratch. If home fans go every week i don't see a problem. It just seems fair that the Redcar who usually bring a few fans have the chance of the reduced price. But that only me. utt.2 points

Is that where Taps lives or is that bell end? Sorry that's a bit naughty but it followed so naturally, much like Panthers will tonight2 points

Please see an update below regarding th half price offer from last season's match against Redcar which will noot be valid tonight When Redcar Bears hit town on April 26, fans who hold entrance tickets from the meeting between the teams at the end of last season will be given admission for half price.Tigers co-promoter Damien Bates said: “There were suggestions the half price offer was for the opening night, but because the Redcar meeting was far from satisfactory at the end of last season we wanted to give the opportunity for their travelling fans to take advantage of it.“I don’t think anyone can argue with this decision, we believe it’s in the best interests of everyone2 points

Wayland Prison (Griston) I believe. Last time I was in the area, there were helicopters and police all over the village as some inmates had apparently escaped and were hiding in the village somewhere. May still be some vacancies there...2 points

Man City will create their own history and the club has class in abundance, anybody who is bitter towards them because of their money and doesn't appreciate the football they play needs to get a life. They aren't the only club with a rich owner. I don't think their supporters will be attacking the Liverpool bus next week either.2 points

In todays speedway star young mr sarjeant has a pop at the track last year saying it was never anygood and cant wait to see what reception he gets ,lets lift the roof with boos everytime he appears on track to show him what we tbought of him last season .2 points

This is exactly right and is the point many have been missing when commenting on the early call offs all around the country. The weather on the day is almost irrelevant to decision with so much damage done in last few weeks2 points
-
I don't think it was postponed just because there was a chance of rain,it probably had more to do with the amount of rain we had in the week leading up to the match.2 points

Steve's comparison of Manchester and Poole is very selective to say the least. Comparing Sandbanks to a council estate is not representative of the 2 areas. My sister lives just outside Bournemouth and they are a lot of extremely deprived areas in the centre of Bournemouth and parts of Poole. whereas my daughter lives in a place called Woodford on the edge of Manchester and there are some very expensive houses there where some of the professional footballers live. Also interestingly, Ivan Mauger lived in Woodford and Bramhall, very nice areas when he was riding for the Aces.2 points

I'll point out again that Jonsson had an official average when he came back to Lakeside but it was reduced by the BSPA because he was no longer as good a rider as when he got that average. Can you not see a precedent there that should be applied for reassessing riders who's form has improved or deteriorated during their absence? Governing bodies are supposed to be consistent in the application of their rules otherwise the system is unfair and lacks credibility.2 points

The post has been removed by either you or Admin, which means it's tasteless. You clearly don't know enough about Muslims in big cities if you think they all obey Islam. I'd say they are in the minority. If you dislike Islam then you disrespect Muslims who follow that religion. Although I'd say 100% of Muslims on BSF think your weather forecasting predictions are rubbish.2 points

What's happened to freedom of speech your democratic right ?. Thought it was just Scotland that has Sturgeons nanny state with her storm troopers kicking doors in if you say something she doesn't like. Looks like it's spreading.2 points

Who knows its done now. Anyway shouldnt you be interviewing teamakers and burger van franchises rather than worrying about Stewart. Your infactuation on anything Glasgow is slightly concerning and you should seek treatment immediately.1 point

No problem with parking more than ample on site. However the Stadium leaves imo a lot to be desired. Take a chair is my advice. Last time I went mud terracing was the norm.1 point

I've always assumed that the promoter paid them in some form or other in the same way as they pay mileage or at least overseas riders points money is proportionately higher than UK riders. You'll be telling me next they don't pay mileage either1 point

Well hear we go again, the start of another speedway season. It's clear blues skies and the track should be perfect. I can only see a Tigers win. It will be interesting how Shanes and Smith go. Howarth and Bjerre looked very good in Steadys meeting last Sunday, well on the pace against the premier boys. I think Wright will be very good around Owlerton once he gets dialed in to the track. Mr Stead will be just the guy to help all the new guy's with all the info on the best way around Owlerton. So come on you Tigers let's have another great season and all the riders stay safe whoever they ride for. utt.1 point

So what this basically boils down to is an admission of failure by the speedway establishment, that they can't run a GB team competitively, for a toffee. There's no money coming in from TV, Terry Russell's SloSport International has failed to get any nationwide sponsorship. The ideas that Rob Lyon, Jonathan Chapman and Tai Woffinden had were far too radical over the years for the old fuddy-duddies to get their heads around. The SCB/BSPA can't afford it and no-one from within is bothered any more. Best just to let someone else have a go, give them the rights, let them take the risks, and see how they overcome the obstacles that the BSPA throw in the way when there's a fixture conflict between club and country at some point in the future. And who are VXR anyway? I thought it was a sporty Vauxhall car of some kind.1 point

Interesting suggestion. With my luck my prison would be in Norfolk! Did Jeffrey Archer not do most of his time there? Brutal.1 point

I’m told that former Glasgow man Stewart Dickson has been invited to deputise for Middlo at this meeting.1 point

Lovely fellow aren't you. Your lack of intelligence and class is showing brightly through. I can picture you now on a donkey on Blackpool beach with a kiss me quick hat on and holding a bottle of Diamond White. By the way the scousers 3 Arab billions 0 what a humiliation. Man city, a team at the top of the league and still can't fill their own stadium. As the arabs have proved you can buy success but you can't buy class and history.1 point

I believe he is not taking up his SDL place so unlikely to feature in the MDL too. Speedway is a family and ripping people off is poor form1 point

You're a weird one. If you have no interest why are you on the thread?!! Sorry SS but you are attracting some right strange people on here atm!!1 point

Bigger doesn't always been better! I've been to Manchester twice and not to watch speedway, so I think my opinion is valid and yeah Manchester is good if you like the city life but I prefer the fresh air you get at the seaside.1 point

If he's a better rider, then why hasn't his average been adjusted to reflect this?1 point

With the team of ringers that Poole have assembled you should be smashing everyone out of sight. Anything less is a choke of course. The predictions were changing all the time. With the forecast for today it may as well have been called off last night. Poole tried to do what Wolves did Monday and hope the forecast changed again. It's no surprise it didn't as the UK appears to be suffering as a whole. So I'm right. Don't forget to add Shovlar to the wind up roundabout or don't Poole wind up posters count?1 point

I think grid girls are the least of the worries for Formula 1 and Speedway. Both sports facing a decrease in footfall and TV audience. Many in F1 and speedway failing to connect with a sport they no longer recognise.1 point

Good stuff and he is a better rider since then. However the track has changed shape.1 point

I'm in Benidorm, sweltering here, can't believe Poole is off, forecast on my Nokia mobex said Sun all day.1 point

I’m hundreds of miles away and the weather is fine. It’s ridiculous this meeting has been called off1 point
-
One of the most comical threads on Poole for a long time. Shovlar completely showing himself up on here over about 6 pages makes for very comical reading. Firstly telling everyone that the meeting at Wolves should have gone ahead because from his home in Dorset he knew the weather in Wolverhampton Secondly then telling everyone that this meeting would be on because guess what 'technology' said it would be Thirdly the meeting is off because guess what...'technology' got it wrong. Shovlar can tell what the weather is in Wolverhampton form 180 miles away but cant get it right when its outside his front door!! Surely he must be sick of everyone laughing at him on here1 point
