  1. Danny Bird used to fly up , so maybe he will . In the aftermath of the disappointment of a much anticipated weekend of speedway being washed out we have learned three things . 1 The weather is thankfully meant to start warming up this week 2 In a league of only 11 teams , there's no reason to start the season before the middle of April 3 From certain posters on here apparently only Edinburgh have proper rain offs . Everybody else , especially Glasgow , have an ulterior motive for calling a meeting off lol .

  3. His full leg is in plaster cast which tells me it could be a very bad break and may be season ending. If we were to do s straight swap then I would go for Eric Riss, lassie bjerre or Patrick hougaard. But they make us weaker so as cruel as it seems maybe a squad rebuild would be better Stevie drozdz and jye out. Bringing in lassie, Eric and auty Cook L bjerre E Riss Tungate Fricke Auty Bewley

  4. In a meeting with so many positives A fine mild evening fit for Speedway The Scorpions living up to the billing A "good looking crowd Jason Garrity's debut 15pt maximum! A great track surface that Garrity loved ! A 26 point Home win Scorpions Heat winners 14 out 15 races All the Scorpions playing their part. A great after the meeting Q & A session for 20 mins in the Club house that all of the riders bar Stevie & Stefan attended ! Thank you guys. Just one "downer" Stevie Worralls Heat 11 crash that looked nasty chasing Jonas Anderson on the outside going into lap 4; there was just "no give" with Anderson and Stevie ended up pinned up to the air fence and no where to go but right ? ! into the air bag which "blew out alarmingly" as man & machine "went in" at high speed coming to a sudden stop!. It did not look good and there was at least an half hour hold up while they sorted him out in the ambulance on track. We don't know the outcome ? Josh Auty rightly refused to comment when asked about it during Q &As.. But it looked a sickner and may yet prove an immediate blow to both ourselves and Aces if Stevie is now sidelined for a period ? We will have to wait and see where this takes us. Get well soon Stevie who has a big break through season on the domestic; European and World circuits. So lots of positives and we'll take those and the irrepressible Jason Garrity publically promising he and the team were determined "to do the business" for the fans; bodes well indeed. What a character Garrity is. Also Gino seems a real personable club orientated guy keen to do well and get back in to his UK Speedway after two enforced years out. So yes we'll take the positives and go again at Redcar next week. But as good as we are as a 6 minus Stevie; we really must hope that his recovery is full and timely and we are a 7 again just as soon as we can be. Riding a man down already was never a part of the "grand plan" and the sense of "come down" regarding Stevie was like the air coming out of that "exploding air bag!

  5. I think you'll find they need the sales to grasstrack and overseas supporters. Small price to pay for the survival of a magazine that, let's be honest, was dumped by a major publisher (IPC) and had to be rescued by the brave efforts and financial risk of its own editorial staff. With the sport collapsing in Britain they needed to do anything to prop sales up.

  6. Perhaps we could pick one of the talent Brits Poole are bringing through!!!

  7. im not sure how the hell JBA was taking the wide line Stevie had made a fantastic pass on the out side down the home straight then rightly clamped JBA on the kerb[100% fair and clean move],sadly there was a little contact from then on in the unfortunate Stevie was just a passenger and couldnt get off the bike in time you will not find a nicer guy in speedway than Steve and id say he was pished off at JBA nipping him up against the fence on the previous lap, enough to rip Steves inside bike cover off such a shame as it was a super race up to that point,im the impressive Steve giving chase for 3 laps to be fair to JBA, he was straight round to Ste after the race and off the bike checking on him, one other point,i hate to see folk running around to the point where the crash happened and hanging off the fence looking,Stevies young family are present and im sure they dont need running commentary from some un educated clowns hanging off the fence,,,,,,,,,,,ffs, show some respect

  8. Harsh according to most people's description of the incident. That is Stevie just shooting from the hip upset his season has been ruined.

  9. Lovely sunny day in Wroclaw Max Fricke riding as no 8 which presumably means he takes the rides of Drodz at 2

  12. Meetings are called off way to early these days. It seems minimum effort is put in to stage a meeting of there is any threat of rain.

  18. Let’s face facts the rain in Berwick was Biblical on Wednesday everywhere is sodden in true reality it would take a week of sunshine and a steady breeze to allow any decent racing to take place. As has already been said on other pages with fewer matches this season the start should have been postponed till the end of April at least.

  19. Bet your eating your words now Midget , it’s absolutely pee’d it down all day here in Workington and I’m 10mins from the track so the right decision was made , still coming down , damned if you damned if you don’t . Plenty would have been on here whinging had they called it off this afternoon after looking at the forecast

  20. Given the amount of rain that has fallen recently (the car park was a perfect example) , I can understand why it may have been difficult to prepare the track to the standard we have come to expect of late. Maybe next week we will see normality restored.

  24. On reflection I believe they came to the conclusion that it gave the taller riders an unfair advantage as they could reach the ground easier and dig deeper trenches! Personally I would like to see riders settled and up to the tapes BEFORE the two minute time allowance expires, not just being astride their bike at the start and faffing around for several minutes.

  25. I don't think any concern is necessary after three matches in any context really. There are riders up and down the country who will take half a dozen or more meetings to get going. Nicholls is a class act at this level and will score plenty of points this season.

  26. whoo hoo, more money saved and not a drop of poison in sight . . so now everybody has to get info from a third party . what about the fans that dont have tech ?

  27. There is only light rain forecast and like mentioned above it hasn't rained in workington for the past couple of days. Hasty decision imo, an they wonder why crowds are down. Ian Thomas would never of called a meeting this early with only light showers forecast.

  28. I so hope you are correct.

  30. Rotten luck for Stevie - he has made so much progress the last few years and is irreplaceable on that average. I think the one over 8 rule was only for the starting line-up and because BV have a genuine injury, I would be happy for Kenneth Bjerre to replace him with Smith at reserve to replace Jye. its only fair IMHO in the best interests of speedway.

  31. Worrall was a cert for British Champion this year in my view, our best World Cup rider last year and started in great form. Maybe he won't be out as long as some fear.

  34. Crowd wise I thought it was a little dissapointing for our first team event, maybe people are waiting for the league proper to start? The meeting sort of started on time but they didn’t start the junior races until late so the notion of parade at 19:45 was completely off, the meeting had a few re runs but was still completed in a reasonable time. Racing wise the track lacked any grip on the outside of the bends which made for some processional racing although heat thirteen was a belter and what you could certainly call “proper speedway”. One thing which needs improving though is the sound system, its very rough and has too much base, it’s hard to hear what is being said in some interviews and the music is affected by it too but that is nothing that can’t be fixed, the overall presentation is a bit tired too and the music within is same old same old, I thought they were making waves about changing it up a bit? Will give the meeting a score of 6.5 / 10 it wasn’t a bad meeting but there is room for improvement (not the riders)

  35. And promoters choose to hire them knowing they will need to compensate them in some way for the travel costs? If someone wanted me to work for them a nighr a week in a different country id expect my travel costs to be covered, either directly or via the wages i received.

  36. Promoters have right to sign who they want within points limits, and sack them if comes down to it, but the way Batchelor & Holder were treat was well out of order IMO. Was surprised they didn't appeal to SCB, ACU or otherwise contest it in some way. Still, we all move on, water under the bridge and all that, hope both riders concerned, and every other rider, have good a safe season....

  37. Absolutely gutted. He's started the season in great form. On that average he's irreplaceable home & away. Oh & he's a great ambassador for our club & British speedway as a whole. Get well soon Stevie, hopefully back in Aces (& Scunny) colours as soon as possible.

  38. Worrall has been riding well so a blow for Belle Vue. This is a problem for the premiership clubs, when a rider gets injured riding in the championship. Hope he makes a speedy recovery.

  39. Yes Charles was really on the gas. When he missed the gate he was flying around the boards, no fear very good to watch. He will be a great signing for the Tigers.utt

  40. Hope Worrall is OK?? Apparently suffered a very bad crash and was on the floor for 20 mins for scunny tonight. Never nice to see any rider injured especially at the start of a season.

  41. Digiguide report a match every Sunday on Freesports through April, covering all of the first four rounds. Timings are: 8th April Round 1 3.30pm - live 15th April Round 2 10.15 pm - delayed 22nd April Round 3 6.00 pm - presumably the second match live 29th April Round 4 6.00 pm - as above There are several repeat showings as well.

  42. how can you compare rider by rider , when Leicester have had one challenge match, and Poole have had no matches, there's no form to go on, I would worry about why did Ipswich lose at home last night, now run along there's a good chap

  43. I hope when Swindon visit that the fans don’t bother booing or throwing insults at the Aussie, just ignore him and treat him with the contempt he deserves. Will need to keep close eye on him with regard to sandpaper in his pocket.

  44. I think its quite possible the GPs will be a step too far for Cookie, but after the effort he's put into BV, and British speedway in general He certainly deserves his crack at the big boys, wish we had more riders like him

  45. Good morning Rob, Time to get realistic, the promoters have load a shed load of cash with the new TV deal and as the attendance at Speedway is not sufficient to pay for the stadium other revenues are needed or its Brandon/Hackney Wick time. As an old traditionalist I like a grass centre green but if the choice is Bumps and Speedway or Grass and new housing estate then its the first every time.
