Workington were just too good for us on the day , Proctor has never ridden better than he is now and Bewley was very impressive on his return . Bradley Wilson Dean had struggled to score a point in previous Ashfield visits , he looked a totally different rider yesterday . That result yesterday has turned the group on its head , with Workington now in pole position to come top . We need to take a long hard look at things , there is a definite problem in the pits with machinery . Young Jack is struggling with this , Worrall looks slow and Bomber's continuing difficulties are well documented . Blowing an engine at the tapes in heat 1 was a major blow , the second bike clearly wasn't fast enough , then he proceeded to break down on Jack Thomas' bike . When i heard him announced in red for heat 15 , i half expected to see him out on an Allied Vehicles mobility scooter , as it turned out that might have been a better option .9 points

The one thing that really annoys me more than anything else is being treated like mushrooms. Who gives a T---s about hot laps when we are not told the important information. We are still waiting to hear that our team has been compromised. People not on social media, are still of the impression we are competing with Leicester in the 2nd leg of the KO Cup and assuming both teams will be as per normal. If the club can't treat their customers with more respect, and keep them in the picture then they don't deserve any fans.... I don't blame the club for the situation of fixture clashes created by the FRN , but i do blame them for the secretive attitude they show towards their fans7 points

i assume skidder you are referring to gavans post above yours in which he made three points, firstly kildermand is a better rider than richie(availability is irrelevant) i agree, secondly poole team changes recently have been at best useless, i agree and finally that richie is british and he supports him, i agree, hardly the ramblings of an idiot!6 points

Had the Promotors came out last week and announced the situation of the forth coming KO match with Leicester, I would have said , fair dues, No, I wouldn't have liked missing out on seeing the proper riders, but at least we would have known the situation the club was in. But here we are, 48 hrs to go and not a word. all they have said is there will be hot laps on Wednesday. If the truth be known , they are afraid to tell the fans the truth thinking some will not bother going, Even if they don't have all the information yet, we should be told what is going on..... The club said they had learnt from last years problems, I'm yet to see that....3 points

It's rare that I attempt to in any way defend the BSPA for its many perceived failings, but as a fan of numerous other major sports it's fair to say that speedway is not alone in causing angst and bewilderment among its followers and, just perhaps, we are all guilty at times of being over-critical of officialdom and what is served up in the name of sport and entertainment. Take football. It continues to price itself out of the financial reach of the average man and woman on the street and attending Premier League games now costs an arm and leg. Then there's the overpriced kits (three versions at any one time) and other merchandise clubs pump out to further rip off their loyal followers. Premier League chairmen/owners are widely regarded as the greediest bunch of governing parasites in world sport. People question the integrity and nous of some running Premier, Championship and National tracks. But look at the disastrous club ownerships that The Football League has stood by and allowed to wreck and ruin - my own club, Leyton Orient, almost went to the wall a year ago at the hands of our then psychopathic Italian owner, who treated us like his personal play thing with almost fatal consequences until the O's were saved in the high court. County Cricket has just entered another desperate new phase of trying to reinvent itself, with the newly-proposed '100-ball' brainwave set to be introduced in 2020 in an effort to attract new, younger fans and mums. It's a franchised based scheme, with a select group of players (not including the best English Test and one-day cricketers) chosen to represent new teams representing cities rather than counties. This, though, will effectively kill the current T20 domestic competition brought in in 2003. The ECB and county bosses are being publicly hammered and ridiculed for dreaming up yet another new format for a game that already has 5-day Tests, 4-day County Championship matches and two one day tournaments. Cricket clubs and the ICC at world level have spent fortunes improving their pitches and outfields but they still can't control the weather and, like speedway, matches are often postponed or abandoned after just a few overs play. These two national sports are awash with billions of TV money yet still, it seems, they couldn't organise the proverbial p*** up in a brewery. How many different 'World Championships' does boxing have these days? In recent years cycling has been totally discredited for harbouring cheats who take drugs to enhance performance. Which race teams and riders can be trusted? Greyhound racing has literally gone to the dogs, with more and more tracks closing year on year. I don't know enough about other sports, such as rugby and ice hockey, to comment here about where they come up short but you can rest assured they too will have their critics and be hampered by decisions (and indecision) taken by their respective rulers. 'Who cares about other sports, speedway is all we're interested in', I hear you scream! I hear you, loud and clear! But remember, there is a lot wrong with many other sports, too, including those with huge financial resources and tens of thousands more followers, and speedway is by no means alone in struggling to satisfy its loyal supporters. Should we keep questioning and challenging the BSPA and FIM (I would add the SCB, too, but they are toothless and have virtually ceded control of the sport to the men and women who run the tracks)? Of course. No-one could argue that speedway couldn't be much better organised and administered, and badly needs to offer more variety in its formats and competitions. The ridiculously over-complicated rulebook needs to be torn up and re-written in the simplest terms. Doubling-up and guests must be eradicated ASAP. There has to be more emphasis on British youth development, with team places made available to the best prospects. But speedway is plagued by many problems (bad weather; lack of stadium ownership; ill effects of the GP and other domestic leagues) beyond its control. So all things considered, while it doesn't solve problems to acknowledge the fact, we're certainly not alone among sports fan calling for more sanity and things to be run better. Speedway? It ain't so bad after all!2 points

If more tracks in this country could serve up racing like the Tungate and Musielak heat then the sport would be in a far better state. That was class.2 points

BV Promotion would have the book thrown at them if there was an independent body running the sport, for displaying such a piss poor atmosphere for a televised meeting. Only speedway promotors could be as short sighted to be charging 20 quid plus for seats for a match people could watch at home, worry about their immediate profit margin rather than using as a platform to market the venue and sport. they have a fantastic facility up there in Manchester, but some absolute clowns running the show.2 points

I would assume that IF Killer could not commit to Poole due to his prior contract in DK which would have meant him missing 9 home meetings (approx), then would it not be the same story IF they tried to sign Klindt ?? Nicolai would have been made aware he was not part of Poole's 2018 team plans so no doubt he would have therefore commited to a full season riding in DK. He rode his first match for Holsted last week. If the same logic applies as for Killer then one would assume he wont be a possibility for Poole come any redeclaration of the team end May/June. Same may also apply to young Frederick Jakobsen who Matt was interested in. He rides in the same Dk team as Killer so I assume same problem applies. I see Kacper Gomolski is twiddling his thumbs a bit not getting selected in the normal starting 7 for Fabulaz and looks like that will continue unless some riders lose form. May also be a reluctance to loan him out to another team. Partly his own fault having been insistant he move back to POL EXL having been a heat leader in Nice 1 last season. He did reasonably well in same tournament as Brady in Leszno yesterday. BUT having just typed that I notice he was also riding in DK last week. Has he commited a full season or would he be able to drop DK in favour of UK IF.... Poole were interested in signing him in a redeclared team. These fixed day agreements (where UK were supposed to be MON/THUR) is surely narrowing the changes possibilities for those who decide to buck the agreement and race on WED. We already saw how the likes of Lambert were able to walk away from the PREM Riders Champ last week due to a contract in DK. Its going to be interesting what Matt can come up with IF he does decide to redeclare. What with riders already commited to POL/SWE/DK it maybe narrows the field, unless his main aim is to try and squeeze another 8 pointer in IF Brady's rolling GSA can be kept just below that magic 8 mark. But then an 8 pointer will cost no doubt a small fortune and do they really want to commit to UK. Much as i would love to see say Piotr Pawlicki back in UK is his main aim is going to be POL/SWE/POL National team plus most importantly qualifying again if possible for the SGP via the various meetings and subsequent final. As it looks currently I have my doubts if Chris Holder coming back will solve the problems unless some of these non performing riders get their finger out. Plus what is going to be available if they don't. I think Chris will have his up and down meetings but hopefully will get above his current GSA. Going to be an interesting 2/3 weeks coming up I think.2 points

They haven’t run as many training days as they had hoped as the stadium is run by the council, apparently this is difficult. There has been some though and the new GB setup had 2 days at NSS few weeks ago training the young riders :2 points

PMSL so he is the lurgan bigot is genuinely deranged, I mean his celebration yesterday was cringe worthy he is that fat he had no chance of taking off. But apart from that he is a thoroughly decent bigot.2 points

£18 actually, no BT offer this year. Personally I think they should have given vouchers out though at last weeks BH meeting for £10 this week. Apart from BH Monday, other Mondays crowds have been 400-500 down on last season, that’s a hell of a lot. The racing is still as good on excellent track with good facilities, decent team lineup similar to last few seasons, the main reason is change from Friday to Monday which could get worst with TV fixtures on Mondays starting now. Hopefully school holidays will make a difference soon.2 points

If we use your system riders who have already attempted to cheat in the heats get a free pass to try to cheat in the Semi or Final. I don't see the merit in that. WE all want a level start so why encourage something that may stop it. If riders try to cheat they must expect to be penalised.2 points

Just looked on the website to see if there was a £10 offer. 22 quid to get in for a televised match? I think that might be the reason.2 points

Got to keep BWD rode very well at Glasgow, could not see Mr campton doing as well, but the visa issue could be a problem, it's a shame while the comets are riding high in results and in local papers and on local radio due to 2 fantastic away results we don't have a home meeting for 3 weeks !! Then another big break, by this time the floating fans will have forgotten how good the comets can be.2 points

Riders moving at the start came into play again here. I agree with the warnings system, but do feel once we get to the Semi Finals that all previous warnings should be quashed. If a rider does move in the Semi then he carries it over should he reach the final. Maybe it's me, but should a warning in a riders first heat hang over him in the final?2 points

Rathbone said: “From Ulrich’s point of view, it’s just a case of us wanting him to concentrate on his racing. He has been a good captain for us over the last three years. He’s still the modern-day ‘Mr Peterborough Speedway’ but he’s at a stage of his career now when his main focus needs to be on making sure he’s a consistent scorer on-track.” Lambert was a silly appointment for captain anyway and the same can be said for him. Give it to Nicholls who's the only one of that lot who should be able to lead by example2 points

I'm very sure we will come out of this rut we are currently in, expect to see some new faces from the end of May to freshen things up. Remember we only need to make the top 4 in the playoffs! We then all start from zero. No panic yet, not a good enough start but I have faith.2 points

Who are we kidding here; Laura will never drop Mason stuck with him for years , BWD is a no brainer, you have to be ruthless in this game to win anything , it’s not rocket science a winning team will bring your crowds back .. But be guaranteed to see a half fit Mason back in the Comets team unfortunately1 point
