At this stage the team name is not important.....The survival of speedway in Essex is......4 points

Not according to the Stars info in their bumper pre season preview which states Friday In this instance for BSPA read the idiot Godfrey. He’s only now trotting this out to make himself look and feel better.4 points

There's no doubt in mind the call off is genuine and having seen the picture of the track its the right decision. At the end of the day calling this match off would be the last thing the Plymouth promotion would have wanted. The cut off is about 3 weeks away and with them just outside the playoffs a call off is the last thing they need. Also like any club they lose money for having to call meetings off, this meeting would have had a good crowd for sure esp with it being the last friday in August. Just one of them things.3 points

Never seen George’s comments of a few seasons ago so can’t comment on that but you have just said in your own words the Barker/Aarnio incident was “similar” to Richie’s so you must agree it was Barkers fault as you must also know some Redcar fans were that enraged about it they were saying they wished “Richie had been killed”3 points

Is anybody bothered ? Scunthorpe have still won, so it doesn't matter how anybody got to Bordeaux etc. Speedway rules in general are a complete farce. Every promotor is in it for there own club. Until an independent regime take it over then you will always get twists and turns with each rule. This season has been a joke from day one with only one set of fixtures instead of two which has always worked at our level. We are now going into September with some teams nowhere near completing their fixtures ,the early season shield semi finals have not been rode and now we've got supporters worrying about r/r in a meaningless fixture ???? well done to Scunthorpe on the 3 points ,at least we will have another trophy to polish this winter even though it may only be at wooden spoon.. Let's hope the bspa can put things right and give us a full fixture list next season. As a footnote it will be interesting to see how much promotors have SAVED this season after their wise decision.2 points

It wouldn't suprise me to see two bigger leagues next year and the NL dumped. It's not really a training league anymore, and some of the teams would be better off running SDL level of racing. The likes of Mildenhall and Kent should be staging a higher level of speedway with their crowd levels.2 points

Not a bad idea, although the London Lions flopped at Hackney in 1996. Also, I wonder if Rye House is too far from London for it to work. Obviously, it's Lakeside Hammers for this season, but beyond that using the 'Lakeside' name seems largely pointless, especially since it's not even the traditional name for Arena Essex. It's just a shopping centre that flagged to people where the Arena Essex Raceway was actually based. Maybe Rye House Hammers does make most sense. It's a link to London it itself, since it's the old West Ham name. Plus it trips nicely off the tongue.2 points

Hammers? don't think so! They had better drop the claret and blue body colours too, Hoddesdon is Tottenham country, they wont go for anything that reminds them of WHU. Lesson one, know your fan base, it wont be the same as you have had before.2 points

No question in my view - nor, indeed, in anyone around me. The white exclusion light was greeted with disbelief by Redcar and Newcastle fans alike. The way I saw it, Barker went hard under Aarnio, lost control for a moment causing him to straighten and as a result T boned him. Boz hits it bang on for me in his description of Barker's move, although I do not accept that hitting Aarnio was deliberate. This is what Redcar have to say : 'The Bears man made a move up the inside and appeared to make contact with Aarnio'. Newcastle's George English was a little less subtle : "It looked like we were in control early on until that moment when Tero was brought down and the referee disqualified him! Unbelievable decision,' Ps Nice to see my fame has spread I probably won't be back until next season, but say Hi if/when I am.2 points

Funny we were stood right behind you on Thursday and when the incident happened my wife said that will be Ben out of the rerun, I said not necessarily Ben had the inside line and was slightly in front of Aarnio who appeared to me to turn into Ben and came off worse. This was later confirmed by the referee, so you see there are always two points of view. Wish Aarnio a swift recovery2 points

12 (TWELVE) league matches from March to September and they have to hold a second double header against the same team. must have been busy with KO Cup matches as they have reached the semi finals having got through ONE round already.2 points

Wow your 56 according to your profile, and your still calling ppl a wally, me thinks it's time you grew up!!!!2 points

Heaven only knows. Absolutely no question that Barker lost control and T boned Aarnio into the fence. Given how obvious it was, probably one of the worst decisions I have ever seen.2 points

I think real speedway supporters see tonight for what it was. A match going one way, then a situation that changed the entire tide of the meeting. Normally in any sport these things are called turning points, sadly for the sport of speedway tonight, with the exception of a very few Redcar fans who appeared to cheer the event, that turning point was a blatant attempt to knock off a rider well in control of the race. As a team who have defied all sceptics this season and really stood tall it’s a shame to end the night without a point, but the thing that makes speedway great is it’s love for proper racing, true racing, and the diamonds stood tall tonight. The only thing left to say about Redcar speedway is, congratulations....... you had 6 riders riding tonight who rode fair, but sadly it took a B.B. intervention to kickstart the team, but kickstart they did. The fact they were rejuvenated isn’t the problem, it’s the 1 rider who continues to jeopardise riders safety daily that’s the issue. Well done Ben barker!2 points

I thought Kurtz might step up this year. I think he had around the 3rd or 4th highest average at the start of the season, without checking 8.04 rings a bell, i was wrong. But at 21 and on a low 6.80 ish average he would be a bargain next season. Starting as the 3rd highest average in a team would be ideal, no pressure as he don't seem to handle it yet. I'd have him at Lynn next season on a 6.80.. Before I get bombarded with the Pirate brigade, I know he will be at Wimborne Rd in 2019.2 points

What i would say to that is, that any rider worth their salt would get the set up after a heat or so, if they cant well thats not the tracks fault in my opinion. If you want to be a good rider you should be able to learn to ride any type of track. It’s to easy just riding the big open tracks where you hardly need to turn the bike and be a “throttle merchant” , the small technicall tracks sorts the men from the boys.( that is on way just directed at the comets).1 point

Sure.. But i don't really care about the wrongs and rights to be honest.. I go to watch 4 loons going at it on an oval track and to be entertained.. And tonight I did that and was treated to some excellent entertainment Again.. Well done both sets of riders.. A great night's racing1 point

If they can make it work on a sat night whichever league its a plus rather than 2 clubs finishing next yr Its positive whatever they call themselves These lakeside meetings will gauge the interest between both fans before then1 point

Well at the back when the home team were on a 5-1 and made no attempt to clear the track. Czestochowa 16-20 down after 6 heats1 point

Poole are in the play offs, its now mathematically impossible for us not to be in the play offs. Yes we changed the team, all teams who are likely to be in the play offs have changed their team. DC2 went on and on endlessly about how Swindon hadn't changed their team but maybe some changes should have been made.1 point

I wouldnt say its excuses. Poole have in all possibility the worst number one in the league and they are worried over Worralls poor form especially as he drops to reserve and Woryna cant have 7 rides. They had by far the strongest 1-7 at the start......comical how one poster called them the magnificent 7. How with the amount of riders they have had are they not miles clear is staggering.....can only think the issue may be Middlo. But right now they have the best reserve pair in the league that is about to be broken up so the fans have every right to be worried about the play offs. Compare Pooles top 5 to the other play offs teams top 5 and they are clearly the weakest and its been the reserves winning them matches. Now the reserves will be different so the team may suffer1 point

From our viewpoint at the stand on 1st bend we definitely felt that Ben had ridden into Tero forcing him into the air fence. It wasn't nice to see and we fully expected Ben to be excluded, therefore we surprised to say the least when the white light went on. Speaking to other spectators , watching from different angles, they felt that Ben was in front and Tero leant into him - I still stand by our opinion. Main thing is that Tero is ok and recovers as quickly as possible form any injuries he suffered. I still think that, even if he had ridden all meeting, Bears would have ran out comfortable winners What did George English say?1 point

correct me if im wrong daniel but it all depends on a 20 match rolling ave what you scored on the meeting thats being dropped,eg a rider with 7pt ave could have a good meeting and score 9 from4 but if in the meeting he s dropping he scored 12 from 4 his 7pt ave would drop fractionally,or if a 5pt rider had a bad meeting and only scored 3 his ave would go up fractionlly if in the meeting he s dropping he didnt score at all1 point

Ipswich fans seem to like him . maybe he was doing his new team a favour .1 point

Throwing in the odd duff meeting doesn't really alter averages all that much when on the rolling scheme.1 point

Good luck to the Hammers for the future. While it is sad to lose a speedway venue, I hope the club thrives at Rye House.1 point

8 teams is not enough. There has to be more variety. The same teams keep riding each other and it becomes monotonous. Be nice to see different teams bringing more away fans.1 point

Written and said numerous times about a rider who is more often dangerous than out of control. Pity because he is talented but has little idea of how to utilise that talent. And little respect for other riders.1 point

I thought that was a very average meeting....the track still needs a bit more bite in it on the outside for me. I really do hope that coty isn't riding himself out of a job for next year. He has been truly exceptional since his signing. Plus I must add that I hope Stefan is okay...he was out cold for a while.1 point

Take a bow Stevie Worrall, definitely kept us honest. Ty such a great guest. Funny old meeting really, poor Pete the starter had his work cut out with those tape exclusions. Hope Stefan is ok.1 point

I'd go with the present 7 but I think the reserves programmed rides should only be against each other with a start from each gate position. If there is to be any doubling up then it should only be with NL riders and get them some more track time against riders of a similar standard so as to not undermine their confidence.1 point

Disgraceful move from Garrity on kemp - so unnecessary to squeeze him the point of riding into him on the back straight - to be honest he was an idiot all night, I’d imagine Mason Campton will be saying to Scunthorpe I ain’t guesting for you again if I’m paired with him! Supposed to be teammates on the night and Garrity trying to knock him off every race!! i think Gino has ensured tonight he won’t be seen in a witches race suit again anytime soon! fairplay to Garcia rode superbly, and well done to drew looked good all night great move in ht2 and was in the mix in his last one before Garrity rode into him.1 point

Might be something to do with Sheffield riding on a Thursday1 point

The only rider for Poole from the starting line up to have done his job is Woryna. Kurtz and Josh G the only 2 other survivors from the magnificent 7 at the start can both count themselves lucky to still ride for Poole. Long term Kurtz might come good but he reminds me of Nick Morris , good but without the necessary ability to go that step further. Fricke is ahead of both and I would say Jack Holder has gone past both. Kurtz goes missing far to often at big points in the meeting and come play off time that will not help. Poole are vulnerable to a side with 2 top class riders like NKI and Lambert or Doyle and Holder1 point

Would a play off meeting get a bigger crowd? Not sure he would be running double headers if that was his mindset.1 point
-
A very good crowd saw a mediocre meeting due to Poole being so poor. KL will top the league and pick Belle Vue. Kings Lynn look solid throughout and a special mention to Simon Lambert tonight who has taken some criticism in the past. Do not believe we saw the real Poole tonight but Brady is not a big scoring number 1. Well done Stars.1 point

You answered your own question re Covatti correctly tellboy - guest allowed as doubling up and riding for his real team1 point

So Poole not putting it in. Must have cost Fordy a few quid in guaranteed points money. All for a meeting that didn’t matter to him. The old Choker fans don’t half come out with some old 541te. As for Shovy and his comments, everyone knows what he is about. If the guy said good morning to you, you would go outside and check for rain. Am I right in thinking IF Lynn finish top it will the first time in thier history in the Top League ? Or did we finish there once before ? if only Poole could have got Chris Folder in at no 1 instead of Kurtz. Think of the difference that would have made. It would have been good to see him on theat Saddlebow track last night.1 point
