  1. I applaud the way that Buster recued the top division by purchasing two other clubs, but the only way this can work is to let them run as individual units. They have to be free to make their own decisions and sign their own riders. If it is seen as Buster controlling everything at all 3 clubs, the integrity of the sport will be lost, with people questioning the ethics of the whole happening. Yes, the return of those historic derby matches should be mouth watering, but if there are any signs of controlling interest, the remaining fans of the sport will be gone forever..

  2. After reading in local paper an article with a quote from Laura about yet another case of stupid money being offered to riders, is it not about time the club / clubs and / or riders were officially named and shamed ?? After all one club was quoted to be losing lots of money and must tighten the purse strings, yet this same club is rumoured to be the main one who is splashing the cash, IMO this leads to all riders potentially asking for more money and the club's losing even more money then risk closing end of season or even mid season, Rant over.hopefully the spell the witches put on a certain club to win naff all will continue with an extra spell next season and the trophy cupboard will still be bare

  3. Seems a bit strange that sponsors/promotion couldn't afford teamsuits to promote their business and look more professional but found the cash to send the riders on a jolly to Abu Dhabi....

  5. Why the Hell can't they just call it division 1 & 2? It isn't a premier league & it isn't a champion league. Don't try to make a silk purse out of a pig's ear.

  6. Just remember team building is like a jigsaw. At one point, Scunny may have only been able to fit in a certain rider. Then another rider may change. Rob G knew all along which riders were entitled to the 2.5% discount. Personally, I'm quite happy that we ended up with Jason Garrity. Steve Worrall's rolling average may be higher, but going on just last year's performances alone, then Garrity was the more accomplished performer.

  7. Fair enough - his money - his choice BUT and it’s a BIG BUT the Panthers fans will not tolerate Buster riding rough shod over them in any manner relating to how our Club is now run the way the Stars fans possibly would - they will just walk away and let him get on with it!

  8. You never know.... but if I was a betting man I would be looking for a million to 1 odds against it and that if Sedgy paid for it and all the food, drink and accommodation. They just never appreciated his talent.

  9. Give over Ostergaard is barely heat leader standard in the championship and Lambert in reality should be nowhere near the top league either

  13. The "achieved" average is in terms of doubling up. No Championship rider can double up with an average less than 4.50 ÷ 1.5 = 3.00. 2020 season it'll be 4.80 ÷ 1.6 = 3.00 2021 season it'll be 5.10 ÷ 1.7 = 3.00 So on and so on until they reach the conversion rate of ×/÷ 2 This is the exact reason Ipswich are not allowed to sign Drew Kemp at No7 on a 3.00 as his average is lower than 4.50 in the Championship. The BSPA are trying to make sure that the top league is of better standard than in 2018 and build a larger gap between them and the Championship, which should be applauded. Any Premiership rider's that had an average 2.99 or lower that rider Championship are also exempt from the Premiership. Saying all that, the BSPA have failed in allowing Championship rider's that doubled up in 2018 to keep their Championship averages, neglecting their initial intention in trying to force the gap between the two leagues. This proven with Somerset having Schlein, Harris and Covatti. If the correct conversion had been interpreted Harris would be 11.39, Schlein 11.88 and Covatti 7.05. 30.32 leaving 7.68 for 4 team spots. It's a nonsense double up Championship averages have been allowed to continue.

  15. I said it earlier in this post, if a business spends more out than it brings in, the business will fail. You are extremely lucky that you have Sugar Daddies in Glasgow, but after their statement it appears they have woken up and smelled the coffee

  16. I would rather Glasgow still came to the tapes in 2020 than outbid other clubs for riders for 2019 and put the club in jeopardy. I find it hard to believe the rumours of the money being offered to riders after the statement put out a couple of weeks a go about the losses the club revealed for the last three seasons!
    3 points
  17. Then clearly you don't understand the feeling of fans....doesn't have to be in the side at Nicks expense ....nothing wrong with a 7 point rider who busts a gut every time he comes to tapes

  18. Total rubbish nothing to do with Bellego,Berge on a certain average and in the right team spot would look attractive to any team.

  20. Oh right ok i got the impression they thought he was p*sh might be wrong though. Thinking someone is p*sh is appreciating him for instance" i can appreciate his efforts at being p*sh".

  25. Also just chucking it out there, i think the 2 riders to be announced on the 28th will be...... Ty PROCTOR Danny KING

  26. Yes THJ, if the roles WERE reversed as you say, then Workinton would be the club with the larger sum of money to offer riders and would be doing EXACTLY the same.........let's not kid ourselves on that one. Lets face it, speedway has always been a ruthless and fickle game.....

  27. So now Workington have their new No.1 in place (TiC) I wonder who the next signing will be? You know building to a sensible budget and all that, cutting costs and saving money? My guess is its Johnny McPrudence and his wife will be with him Prudence McPrudence Regards THJ

  28. Can see Buster upsetting the Showground management as hes not had to deal with any other party at Lynn, Showground management dont take no crap and only deal with those they trust,Ged must of been pursuaded to stay on, some riders are signed on the back of sponsors money so he may not have had to seek approval from Buster for all the targets. Wouldn't be surprised if 12 months from now the uncertainty of if the Panthers are running or not returns yet again.

  29. Swindon would be mad to let Morris go anywhere on his bargain average. Given his history with Rosco, I’d like to think he would stay. Swindon will have a new track so hopefully that will be a catalyst for an improved season for him rather than a year away and then saddled with a big average again!

  30. Talking of season ticket holders getting a discount, had an e-mail from the club today saying because of Rye House folding last season & one meeting not taking place ,£17 will be knocked of next seasons renewal. So credit were credits due, because this hasn't happened before in past seasons.

  31. "Mechanics" usually have jobs and do this for extra money, or know the rider to some extent, and do it for a mate.Maybe the real top guys have a team travel with them all over the world, but I very much doubt it. I wouldn't say most are classed as self employed mechanics. They change wheels, sprockets, maybe clutch plates, alter timing, that type of things, on the night. Usually they don't touch engines, that's a tuners job. I know an ex rider that used to spanner for Mads at £100 a meeting at Lynn. He had a day job. Not saying they don't deserve something/praise, but many are not "self employed mechanics", more like helpers and many do it for peanuts.

  33. That wouldn't surprise me. Neils did seem very tentative at the AFA this season. It seems the track wasn't to his liking and it got in his head a bit maybe. His shoulder probably wasn't 100% either.

  36. Ty Proctor 6.96? As your man hasn't taken off your 2.5% reduction for Danny King that gives an additional 0.22 I reckon and I think his figure for Kyle is a bit high too by 0.10 but will stand corrected if I have my numbers wrong Regards THJ 1 Danny King 8.90 8.68 2 Kyle Howarth 7.02 6.85 3 Ty Proctor 6.96 6.96 4 Kasper Andersen 5.20 5.20 5 Broc Nichol 4.00 4.00 6 Zaine Kennedy 4.00 4.00 7 Drew Kemp 2.00 2.00 Total: 38.08 37.69 Remaining: 0.31 Going off what has been posted above how does that grab you, looks a potent team to me if it comes up trumps?

  37. Great looking side just probably at least 5 riders out .....no way he will build a Swindon side without Tobiasz
    1 point
  38. Doesn't that mean that if a rider has a Championship average of say 4, they would start on a Premiership average of 3 (which is the minimum) - not that they wouldn't be eligible to ride? Similarly, if any Premiership ride fails to achieve an average above 3, they will be assigned a 3-point average.

  39. They need at least one decent under 21 rider. Both of last season's are now 21 (and they were far from being the strongest under 21 pairing).

  42. Buster letting anyone dictate how his money is spent ? Can’t see that happening Webbo, can you ?
    1 point
  43. Good point but other clubs dont need to meet those riders demands. If a rider is trying to hold them to ransom them they are better choosing someone else. John Campbell wouldn't tolerate it and neither would any of the other old school. No rider is worth jeopordising the club for.

  45. but mason was a reserve that was beating heat leaders on a regular bases . rode @ 6/7 for most of the season and then he rode in the main body of the team and pushed rene down to reserve . he can and will do what he has to . is there anyone out there smarter than their kids nowadays lol .

  46. Nuh. This guy is arguably the next big thing we have to offer the World of Speedway after Lambert, so no way he won't be signed even if it takes a while for him to get back to full fitness. May take a while but even his POL Club jumped to make sure he is with them for 2019. Diamonds like this do not come along that often.

  47. Right all joking aside really good signing getting Mason back wish him and Workington all the best for the new season.

  48. I would hope the lack of team suits would not be repeated in 2019 as don't think it looked good personally. Hopefully some deep pocketed kind sponsor will come forth next season ;-)
