What a joke.. .. I am neither pro or against Buxton, but if the governing body are serious about our sport then surely they should waive all the fees and do anything they can to secure the longer term future if the club. It's very easy to shut a track down, very hard to reopen one. It should not come down to the fans to fund it, the whole speedway family from the top downwards should make relatively simple obstacles disappear, rather then creating them?4 points

Agree. We are all adults so shouldn't need to be moderated. The problem is the usual posters rising to the bait and replying to posts obviously designed to get them to respond. If only they wouldn't a lot of the rubbish would disappear but it would seem they are intent on trying to have the last word so the pathetic posts carry on.3 points

There isn't anything like the money or global appeal in speedway as there is for even Rugby League, and I'm not convinced Canadian teams in RL makes much sense. Certainly people have lost interest in Super Rugby since it added the teams beyond its core base, and the huge time differences make the whole thing a bit of nightmare for television. League speedway is really only run in Europe so time zones wouldn't be the same issue, but a European competition would only make sense if some decent television or sponsorship deal was secured on the back of it. You couldn't really run such a thing on the expectations of crowd revenue, and I'm not convinced the likes of Poole v Falubaz Zielona Gora on a cold Wednesday night would really have as much appeal as Poole v Swindon for the average fan, although you could maybe stage away 'tours' as a couple of matches at a time which might appeal to some fans. I don't honestly think Poland would have much to gain from this nowadays, and it would appeal more to those national leagues where a team or two would like to run at a higher level of competition, but there aren't enough teams in their own country to form a league at the desired level. I actually think it more likely that British teams would run in the Swedish Leagues than the Polish ones. The time to have done a European League was 20 years ago when there was more equality between the three or four main leagues and cable and satellite televisions were looking for cheap content. It would also have been a good opportunity for those leagues to have taken control of the SGP and SWC and run those competitions for their own benefit. But no-one wanted to look at the big picture, speedway is now way off the radar as a marketable sport and everyone within the sport is just fighting over scraps these days.2 points

So both Toby Elliott and Vera Tomlinson either supported or approved whatever application was being made, with "conditions". They are hoping the leopard will change its spots. Perhaps it would be more effective to do a "Trump"..........refuse the application totally until the previous commitments have been met.2 points

No real need for third party moderation... It should just be self moderating by the 'normal' people on here.. If trolls take over a thread then no one quote their posts or rise up and reply to them.. Keyboard warriors are often socially inept misfits, whose only recognition of their own pitiful very existence comes via responses gleaned on forums full of people they will never meet. With them getting some kind of kicks to offset their often shallow soulless, friendless lives... There are only a few prats on here anyway so not difficult to pin point them, even if a 'multi', as they always use the same M.O. So after a few posts of a 'newbie' it is self evident who they really are/have been.. Don't give them the oxygen of acknowledgement and they will soon get really peed off as the debates carry on around them... Really. Really. Peed off I would imagine...2 points

It seems as if a few threads have been taken over (more than is normally the case) by contributirs whose sole aim is to wind-up and throw personal abuse around. Its become ridiculous. Are you going to take some decisive action??1 point

A Rev limiter cutting in half way round a corner will suddenly give the bike grip!!! Result will be the rider falling off ,!!!!! A rev limiter cutting in at the end of the straight ..... results, rider falling off. Smart riders could incorporate it into a device which will be a traction control to cut in when needed. Loads of unburnt methanol at the start line because the limiters are cutting in....... result in blown and sneezed motors. where is the testing for this ?..????1 point

Everyone should pay at the gate, that's how you keep speedway profitable, with the exceptions of track staff ,YES I MEAN EVERYONE, if you don't you are just a freeloader1 point

If the Rebels are running home meetings on Wednesdays in 2019 I hope can we have consistent weekly home meetings. If there's a conflict with other Wednesday tracks not allowing this to happen then start the season with a few Saturday home fixtures to alleviate the problem, or is that a too simple solution?1 point

Correct. Not only the pressure, but when you move from No 4 to No 1 you go from Heat 14 to Heat 13... that alone will have a hit on your average.1 point

I read every issue and thoroughly enjoy them. The quality of the articles is superb, evoking many happy memories of the 70s and 80s. I see no reason why including the 90s would be a bad thing. Just think, Tony, of all the extra material available to you overnight! World Finals of the 90s, the dawn of the GP era, world cups, 10 years of league and cup exploits, not to mention numerous individuals of interest that currently miss the cut off date. Go for it, I think your readers will be overwhelmingly supportive of the idea.1 point

Nor at Ipswich to start with either. Came back considerably overweight and struggled. Compare that to the previous year when he shared a workshop and gym facilities with Scott nicholls and he was a different rider. He has huge potential but needs to put the effort in off the track to get the rewards. We are told he in training so hopefully the penny has dropped. Always remember joe screeen claiming every march he was the fittest he has even been when in reality it was the fattest1 point

I came on here (for the first time in a while) to read what the dwindling Monmore faithfuls had to say about the predictable final signings for my now only local team. Oh well. I might come back in two weeks such abuse was only normally reserved for Bees v Pirates threads.1 point

I actually thought when he come over here, he would do the Championship first. But he has progressed so well and the top league is so watered down now if if I predicted Jaimon will average 5.50 plus.1 point

This must be one of the few forums I use where mods are just non-existent, not even under the radar, just nowhere to be found. Considering the way the forum used to be 10 years ago it's crazy.1 point
