  1. Jack missing at match at the Showground? Who'd have thought it.

  2. That's handy. I started in Lynchwood on April 1st and do get a bit stuck sometimes for lunch. Where is your McDonalds?

  3. Wow, any meeting against the old enemy has to be worth a look, Norfolk v Suffolk, our pride at stake!

  4. 20 riders and many fans don't see the issue either. Looks superb in mine and many others opinion... just seems one individual has the issue....

  6. Young Kyle was hugely impressive tonight, he commented in the programme how grateful he was on Workington sticking by him and how much it helped his confidence. Seems a very level headed young man and looking forward in watching him progress further with us this season.

  7. Really don't get the furore over team suits. I couldn't care less and actually used to like seeing all the different leathers riders wore. They can have team race jackets and helmet colours - now I sometimes find it hard to tell who's who on track. It does nothing to increase the crowd, which will continue to reduce unless there is more entertainment on offer, in a better environment, than 15 races.

  8. Yeah Badge we need to keep it close A 2 point win will do rather than 28

  9. I agree with Steve above. Over and over we here the same nonsense trotted out that there is little difference between the two divisions.. yet everytime they meet it's a walkover. Wolves were nowhere near full strength. Nathan Greaves in for Scott Nicholls.. RR for Nick Morris.. but still won by 20 away from home.

  10. The gap in strength has got closer and closer over the past 5 to 6 years, however the top flight will always be too strong for a 2nd tier team - as evidenced by the result.

  11. Large contingent travelling down, the first meeting last season was a cracker down there more of the same tonight would make it an excellent weekends entertainment. Berwick should win but we will take a point is my prediction.

  12. I’m not really fussed either way about Middleditch but like Chris Harris and all the grief he got for his Go Fund Me idea it’s entirely up to people whether they get involved or not, nobody is forcing anybody nor should anyone be made to feel good or bad whatever they decide.

  13. Agree 100% with the sentiments expressed, a brilliant nights racing from both teams. There were are number of "first timers" at Ashfield last night and the two families I spoke to as they left were enthralled with the night's entertainment and are returning for the next meeting. Speedway at its best. Best wishes to Jye Etheridge on a speedy recovery.

  14. As many have said , that was as entertaining and exciting a meeting as you'll see anywhere this season . The racing was terrific with passing , repassing and close racing in almost every heat . Craig Cook looks , and played the part of the best rider in the league to perfection . I wonder if they pay him to miss the gate . But that was the theme throughout the meeting , the Bandits gating and the Tigers coming from the back . Nobody filled that role better than both Jensen and Starke , with Starke's gating pretty awful , and while they can get away with that at Glasgow , they won't at Shielfield Park . Jensen's race with Jackobsen in heat 9 being the pick of a long list of breathtaking heats , that was no quarter asked or given . Young Bickley was also a stand out on his debut , looked a much faster and solid rider than he did last year . Berwick played their part though and were much better than the scoreline suggests . If the track is like that every week , with so many lines , what a season we are in for .

  15. ‘The Guy’ lost everything from his testimonial meeting when the club went under. He didn’t request the benefit meeting, it was offered, so hardly greed. Pi$$ poor post from you.

  16. Surely it is right that the club holds the cards, they are after all the employers? Club supplies Kevlars and covers. Hans’ van is not supplied by the club, it is provided by a sponsor who sponsored the club when I was involved. Points money hasn’t really changed in 15 years, but crucially the cost of flights is lower than 15 years ago. With regards colours of sponsors logos, it’s nothing new we did it in 2006, white on a red background stands out much better than any other colour, surely the aim is to get sponsors logos to be seen, having them white achieves this better than any other colour. I don’t see the issue.

  19. It was reported that Belle Vue released Craig for similar. GP rider demands for a bang average rider. He also publicly slated Belle Vue's management. So Craig has pretty much left himself with Championship Glasgow or Premiership's Swindon and Wolverhampton. Neither of the Premiership clubs management teams would be stupid enough to pay what his "Speedway Superstar" wages.

  24. Extract from UK crews' Blog; "Current British Champion Paul Whitelam stated “I’ve made the journey for the past three seasons, but with only one event being offered and without start or guaranteed prize money I could not warrant the expenditure this year. Hopefully the World Cup will be run closer to home in the near future, Belle Vue would be a great venue”. Former British Champion Mark Cossar also spoke of his wish for the event to come closer to home. “I’m gutted to have to turn my place in Australia down, but we have done the trip over there so many times over the past six years. If the championship is to work the FIM has to run it in Europe again”. It may seem about time FIM gave Europe another opportunity, but unfortunately the Continentals aren't interested in the 1000cc class, (not one entry from mainland Europe on the last occasion there in 2009, in France on grass,) only in the 500cc. So chances will be slight. https://www.sidecarspeedway.co.uk/2019-news

  27. When Middlo had his previous money nicked by the Reg Fearman promotion, he left speedway altogether and didn't even visit as a fan until the likes of Joe Screen and Steve Johnston were staying with him at Baillie House and enticed him back. Matt Ford took over later and asked Neil to become team manager and promised to hold a benefit meeting for him while he still owned the club. Its not a 'testimonial' as such, its a 'benefit' meeting proposed by Matt Ford (first mentioned at the recent fan forum to unanimous applause) which I'm sure will be well supported by riders, fans and sponsors - and rightly so.

  28. The sound in the stand just after the start is dire, yet the sound in the car park is very good. Agreed ,when Rob is on the mic it is usually clear ,although a sports mic would stop the wind effect. Roger Westby interview before the match is poor as he always does it when the engines are warming up and is completely inaudible. Good job the scoreboard is pretty good and quickly updated.

  29. Hope it is as thrilling tonight as it was last night but as Paulco says the Tigers will need their gating boots on as they were not as sharp out as the bandits. Glasgow has been pretty much gate and go the last few years but the track last night had passing lines galore. Speedway as it should be. Hope Jye is okay as that was a nasty fall.

  31. Can't see any other outcome the way he came down after the race in heat 14 last night . Different ball game tonight with our gating having to be much better than it was last night . But if tonight's meeting is even half as good as last night's , then it will be a cracker .

  32. I was standing at the first bend, don’t think his throttle jammed think because he raced Starke right over the line they were still too close together at the first bend slowing down and he couldn't get room to give it a wee bit throttle to get a slide on to power round the bend like you see the having to do sometimes in a race to the line finish and straightened and just caught the fence and then sudden stop.( could be wrong though)Unlucky.

  35. Funnily enough i said yesterday that i rated him to have a career along the lines of Scott Nicholls, namely be an strong figure internationally, capable of reaching the GP's and definitely got a British Title in the tank if he keeps progressing at the rate he does.

  36. Nope and in 2019 that is also a rarity.

  37. Believe it. I wrote his contract. It is extremely rare for a rider to have a minimum guarantee.

  38. So chuffed with this showing from the Stars, nobody expected that but hell they got themselves together and boom, another win at Poole, last one was inspired by CH in 2017 of course It's put the smile back on our faces and wiped it off the Poole fans, perfect, sorry people

  41. Good result for the Stars tonight, totally unexpected after the start they have had.Every one chipping in which enabled the win.And of course Lambert's return to his usual form.Hopefully with Kasper getting 5pts with a win in ht2 this will give him a bit of confidence to push on with a few more scores like that or better. Roll on Monday where we get to take on those Witches.

  43. I think this is the best race I've seen for a while (I know it's off topic for this thread) Partly because it's a hell of a race, partly because it's a match winning race and mostly because Chris Holder finished at the back ...Oh, how I would love to live in Poland...

  47. I have noted recently amongst some Brummies (Not many by any means.) A sort of expectation and a feeling that we deserve to always win. I have no idea where this has come from and is something that I expect from some football fans and the odd Cradley fan. I really hope it doesnt become catching. The truth about our team is that it was built firstly to make sure we continue as a club. Hopefully no Workington or Alan Phillips syndrome hear. So whatever anyones opinion about Ulrich (And I dont think we have seen enough yet to come up with a credible opinion.) the chance of him being replaced anytime soon is at best unrealistic. Its time to hunker down and support our team through thick and thin. The most important thing is to build from here on up and this takes support and money. We have made a good start. Tobias looks to be the real deal (but again on one showing, as with Ulrich we need to see more.) Paco turns out (with a similar caveat.) not to be the disaster that was predicted. Ashley was the best rider on show last Wednesday. Ulrich may not stay at number one but thats not a real disaster if others take up the mantle. Anyway my guess is that if any changes are made as some are predicting it wont be until the permited team average goes up.
