  2. Was very impressed by the fighting spirit Connor Coles showed , we could do a lot worse than consider him for the vacant number 6 racejacket

  8. That was as entertaining a 56-33 as you could wish to see. The ref said it was the best meeting she had seen this year.

  13. 2018 - Guests in NL proliferate. Widespread complaints by supporters throughout the league Last winter - NL changes the rules restricting guests for 'any reason' to under 18s. Supporters respond positively Last night - new rule applies, fans start whinging. This is a typical case of fans wanting fairer rules until they apply to their club.

  14. The Eastbourne tactical substitution manual . No point doing it against Mr Maximum as he doesn't get beat at home . Heat 8 is protected so that's out . So what is left . Heat 5 , you're 6 points down.........no not yet . Heat 9 then , you're still in touch ........eh nope . Ok heat 12 surely , still an outside chance of a point .....nope . Then heat 14 when the score is 50-27 , bring out the big guns and there you go a 5-1 . Brilliant lol .

  15. Not sure many speedway fans would miss a meeting to watch Eurovision, lack of consistent fixtures is a problem imo.

  16. Speedy recovery to Tom, a big loss for the Eagles , well done to Tigers, a hard fought win, special mention to Paul Starke who has been struggling this season and Connor Coles who should get a chance at no 6 for us

  17. Firstly speedy recovery for young Tom. Well done again to the Tigers, just seem to be getting better by the week. Track not the best according to the updates, looks like we managed it better than the home team , but a good weekends work to start our league campaign.

  24. Godfrey actions spoilt it for me... constantly badgering a ref doesn't help, holds up the meeting and generally makes him look like an idiot

  25. I'm absolutely gutted Jake is going to miss this meeting, he is far and away our best rider at this present moment and irreplaceable imo. Still hoping we can put in another good performance against one of the stronger teams, would hate to lose our home record on TV .

  26. Eastbourne really remind me of 1985 when they entered the second tier of British speedway, It took us half a year to build and from then on we dominated the league until we moved up to the top flight again. The team is built to win and entertain at home with the hope that the top three can carry the side away from home with the hope of picking up the odd point here and there. It's very much a club that's building for a very bright future, give us a season and we will be both winning and even more entertaining on the road..

  28. I agree the Eastbourne live report thing was good.. re the #amow thing on twitter, i assume some of the chaps behind it have deleted their messages as i can only find a handful of posts from Steve Dixon (who's on here isn't he?) and Ian Charles. Quite cringeworthy i think tho and very much stinks of veterans who have had their feathers ruffled by someone who is new on the block and is perhaps using methods and contacts that they themselves have never had the chance to exploit. All very sad.

  29. Take Lambert out of the equation, and your left with a mediocre championship side, and want to charge top dollar way over priced for the product IMHO.

  37. Like others on here I'd first like to say well done Somerset we were beaten by the better team on the night despite some in the crowd moaning about the state of the track which was the same for both teams and the rebels rode it better ,end of However the referee was diabolical and should not be allowed anywhere near a speedway track again. As a long time speedway fan I accept that you win some you lose some where refs decisions go. But last night was just mistake after mistake with BOTH SIDES losing points to decisions that where clearly wrong Leaving aside the mistakes in the finishing order of certain races after all in a tight race both sets of fans and riders are going to see the result differently it was the simple things Mr Greame Hunter kept getting wrong Leaving the 2min lights on for an entire race is bad enough especially when track staff starting marshals ,the crowd and riders are trying to draw your attention only turning them off after a comment over the p.a at the end of the race but to do the same thing again in the next race and the subsequent rerun (the riders had completed 2 laps before the lights went out) is just poor This poor standard when on throughout the meeting at one point with 11 seconds left on the 2 minute timer (which was correct having started as the 2 minute lights came on) it was announced there was actually 60 seconds left lucky this mix up didn't result in an exclusion but could have By the end of the night the general feeling was while there had been some good racing the whole evening had been spoiled by some very poor decisions

  40. First, congratulations on a fine team performance from the Rebels, rode very inteligent lines to either keep in front or make the passes,a fine performance and never looked like loosing the meeting from heat 2 onwards Auty again a class act for Scumthorpe, the rest were simply not good or smart enough--simple as that on the ref, never have i seen a more shocking performace in speedway, some absolute howlers all night,i can understand the odd mistake by a ref, that happen,s but to make shocking decisions all night ,that i can`t accept more concerning from a club point of view was folk leaving early, never a good sign

  41. NKI would be a great change but please don't bring Simon Lambert back into the Stars team. There must be a better option as Simon is certainly not displaying improved form in the CL.

  42. seen Bowtell a few times this season, fast starter and I think a very good propsect. Missing an NL berth to give him confidence like and will thrive at reserve I think. If Eastie could find a replacement for Morley would be very potent away not just at home. I understand why he rides 3 and gets Kerr in to Heat 14.

  43. I couldn’t agree more. Yes the others have quickly deleted their #amow hashtags. At Glasgow last night I did not see two of the photographers that are involved so perhaps the Facennas have taken action already?. They run a large scale business and I imagine they know the consequences of not dealing with situations such as these. They have built a very professional operation up here and wouldn’t allow their reputations to be sullied in this way. I understand BelleVue are run by big London banking investors and I can imagine they will have a similar perspective on bullies. Leicester is run by a guy high up in the BSPA and Edinburgh by the ex chair of the BSPA. Can’t see any of them not wanting to take action.

  45. Admittedly I've only been a couple of times this year such is my dissolution with the way the sport is run, and it sticks in the craw putting money in Chapman's pocket, but to me the racing was no better than the Championship; the usual follow the leader Ipswich fare. Regarding the buy back clause and the hope that a successful season will justify the risk, you're assuming there will still be a viable Elite League! It's bound to go t!ts up again, it always does. Louis wouldn't take the risk to move up as he knew it wasn't viable and Chapman only did it to buy the Elite league another year. The whole sport needs restructuring but it seems it ain't gonna happen with Chapman at the helm, he hasn't the ideas, ability or vision to do it and instead is happy to paper over the cracks. I realise that in the few posts I've made I probably come across as a miserable, negative old git but I do fear for the club's future. A major decision was made in haste and nobody seemed to be looking long term, it was all about keeping the top league alive for another year. Such hasty snap decisions rarely work out well in the end...

  46. If that's what happened, then yes.... I have never seen the point of glossing over the bad issues. Much prefer for people to say it like it is. Nobody said it was easy, but its part and parcel of the game they choose to be in. I always thought that was the idea of the track walk …...
