Absolutely love Peterborough ~ the track, the racing, the music, just everything. Also love my dogs who are so good and go to sleep while the match is on. My cars not bad either as it's almost 18 years old and can still belt along at 70......I mean 60........when there aren't any speed limits on the A47. If anyone is feeling a bit depressed with Speedway take a trip to Peterborough.9 points

Hopefully we get the chance to finish the job now , after securing a wonderful draw in Yorkshire a couple of weeks ago . Connor Coles continues to guest at number 6 as new signing, Connor Bailey , is waiting on his machinery arriving from down under . Sheffield should be at full strength so we cant afford to be complacent as there are one or two in their side who enjoy it round Ashfield . The Sheffield fan's new favourite Scottish referee will once again preside over the action in what should be another entertaining encounter at the premier Scottish venue .4 points

League racing has been the backbone of this sport since 1929. It would have struggled to survive without it. Most fans like to nail their masts to a colour, and wouldn't go if they had no teams to support. Individual meetings started to die off in the 1980's, Cardiff is only well attended because it's a prestigious one off event. Speedway, like dog racing is a sport from a bygone era, that is not fashionable anymore. People want a lot more than fifteen races and poor facilities for their money. You only have to look at the shenanigans at Poole and Swindon yesterday to realise the sport is knackered. It needs massive investment and professional people to revamp it, both of which are never going to happen.4 points

The guest is for Luke, as you well know. Being in the know can you tell me how the stadium works are doing at Workington hope they don't interfere with the comets plans to return next year. The sport can't afford to lose fans like you4 points

oh dear you are funny let me break it down Pooles track was causing crashes and riders hitting ruts......caused an injury to Musielk This was reported by pretty much everybody and the meeting took 3 hours to run World class rider in Jason Doyle called the track dangerous Adam Ellis and Troy Batchelor.......hardly novices were scathing in the state of the track In the evening at Swindon riders were hitting a hole it seemed on the first bend This was so bad it threw up a stone that injured Josh wrist It was so bad that Doyle pulled out after aggravating his injury from Poole Swindon fans saying how bad BOTH tracks were Poole blue tints thinking their own track was ok So i tell you what.................i will base my opinion on BOTH tracks from the genuine Swindon SPEEDWAY fans and not the usual Poole numpties.......and also from riders from the top level of speedway.......who moaned about BOTH tracks I dont need to watch a meeting to have an opinion Do you ever read anything before posting....................Doyle told Swindon team to carry on because of the paying public...........3 points

Thanks for the last few posts it's good to know that there are still lots of decent speedway fans on this forum. If your wondering what I mean just take a look at some of the nonsense on the premier league pages.3 points

You are not the full set. You did see the part where Tobias was catapulted into the fence, you know when he went over the handle bars? That is some laying down of a bike, quite spectacular actually. With respect to you, it's people like yourself and Steve who create the anger that surrounds Poole on these boards. You have a circuit that is dangerous, as pointed out by a very recent world champion, has it ever occurred to you that what you are defending is indefensible? That actually, the Poole track has a very clear and present issue, one that could cause serious injury? Why not just be normal for a day, and throw your hands up to it?3 points

I think once Buster has bought his 4th Club and having total control then invading Poland must be next on his agenda. Are there any signs of him growing a moustache3 points

In no way should Lynn not keep Riss as he gives 100% and was going well at the start of the season and would have shown that form again He was looking better until his crash Some way must be made to bring him back Im sure he will want to return when once he is fit again.3 points

Probably the better choice to avoid the first bend hole?! Poole were never once in the lead so to get the away draw was a fine performance.3 points

Don't know how long Cookie has signed for but given it's another of Chapman's teams one of them must have backed down on the sponsorship on kevlars and bike cover issue. Or given past events (ie Harris's 'move' to Ippo) it's been a big game alll along with Chapman waiting to see which of his teams needed strengthening? Got to have sympathy for Panthers' fans they way they have been messed about.3 points

Does this rule still exist in the regulations? I ask because it seems List is being reintroduced at Scunthorpe. Surely the two men at the top won’t be bending the rules to suit their clubs.....3 points

Echo that , I enjoyed the meeting , there were some decent races , especially 13 and 14 . I had my doubts about the Jensen signing in the winter , but I've been proved wrong , he was awesome again tonight . All in all that was a strong team performance against a decent outfit .2 points

Had to laugh a wee bit when Zaine Kennedy (who earlier had said there was no reason they couldn't turn the Glasgow result at Sheffield around) throttled off in anger when Kyle Bickley beat him, only to allow Paul Starke across the line in front of him......lol2 points

In this case neither can I as Jedd's average remains unchanged. however you could have the scenario where you sign a rider on a (not assessed) average of 6.5. for whatever reason his average drops to 4.00. you the release him just before his new GS average kicks in and replace him with another 6.00 rider. Then one month later reintroduce him to your side by replacing a 4.00 rider with him. Tho and behold he averages 6.00 again and you've strengthened up without strengthening up.2 points

I'm sorry but no. 1.They do not do it to entertain anyone. They do it because they enjoy it. 2. If they didn't get paid they would soon stop. The argument about doing it for fans entertainment is a big load of BS.2 points

God, I hate you! You are so bloody negative - and so bloody accurate in your assessments... Funny, people would complain how "meaningless" second-halves were - and now everybody wants more than fifteen heats! I've said it before, but one of the things I loved (and I assume others did too) was the variety in speedway. Sure, league was the backbone, but look at the other formats. At Plough Lane we were spoiled, but as far as individual meetings we had the Daily Express Spring Classic, Internationale, NLRC, and Laurels (plus other occasional events). There were 4-Team Tournaments, Best Pairs, and Test Matches. The variety in track shapes and sizes always intrigued us. We had a "choice" of meetings and venues seven days a week. One Saturday I would go to Swindon, and the next I would go to Canterbury. One Sunday I would go to Mildenhall, and the next I would go to Rye. The highlight of away coach trips on a Saturday was meeting up with other supporters' coaches at Watford Gap! Sigh... Steve2 points

Very pleased to get Jacob who I think will be a good replacement for Simon who obviously didn't have the style for Brough. Many were surprised when Jacob didn't get a ride with the Bears both last year and this year. Although his start with the Bears a few years ago didn't work out, he has always impressed when invited to ride in Open meetings and scored well on Friday in a big Redcar Open meeting. He rode well in a Amateur meeting at Redcar on Saturday, winning the top class for 500 cc's, and rode very well in the private practice session at Brough on Sunday afternoon, getting a lot of rides and being one of the last riders at the end. He lives locally now and, being a Dane, will be company for both Tomas and Lasse. I believe he is from Slangerup, which was Jespers home club, so might see Jesper to have words of advice for him. The timing of this move is spot on as Jacob will be at reserve, which will give him an easier run in the Diamonds ranks whilst he is finding his feet. I look forward to a more balanced team now, and hope that others in the team get over their current problems and score the points expected of them. Happy with this signing and team changes.2 points

Last word on the Diamonds since this is a Glasgow page but this has a Glasgow 'connection' lol The only time i saw the Diamonds loose their sparkle was at Paisley when former Tigers' Promoter Neil Mcfarlane pulled a cracker with a measuring tape when Ian Thomas questioned the width of the track.2 points

Every year we hear about promotions and riders 'massaging' their average to lower than what they are capable of either to help the team bring in a stronger rider or to make themselves more attractive the following season (riders obviously not promoters even though there now seems to be a few changing teams off-season). Maybe rather than mess around with team building averages rules should be changed where by a rider has his average for the whole season and perhaps that thing we used to have called loyalty comes back into play?2 points

I have never heard anyone accuse us of wanting riders injured, that is a ridiculous thing to say. I am sure nobody wants that. I would rather lose than have injuries.2 points

My second visit this season as unfortunately I can't make the midweek ones unless a Bank Holiday. I've always loved Peterborough so even when their fans are saying it wasn't such a good meeting it's a damn sight better than any ones at Leicester. Also reading comments about the Poole and Swindon tracks on the same day I reckon Panthers fans should be pleased they can watch their speedway on a well prepared track. Okay it might not have been at the beginning of the season but it's definitely getting there now so if that's down to Buster then all credit to him.2 points

It's been this way for about 6 years. Gradually getting worse. There are days when it is passable but for the majority it's nowhere near good enough. It needs ripping up, base included, and relaying. It really is that simple, and yes, I know there will be a huge cost implication.2 points

Don’t think they need much sympathy after the way they smashed Lynn last night. They look well sorted to me2 points

I think Swindon missed a trick .Zach should have been put in heat 13 and Perks in 14 .Perks had a great chance of picking up a point in 14 while Zach had none .Would have put Ellis in 15 as well .2 points

A turnstile needs staff though so it's easy to see the solution but doesn't seem to be so easy to provide the answer given that volunteers are in short supply, as the taped off stand sections indicate. Fair point about the stand seats, been like that for a good few seasons now. They were actually quite clean yesterday considering that we'd had a Thursday meeting. If you attend at other times then bring your Mr Sheen and a rag. I guess that the EoES kept it clean generally in days gone by but only bother now for the very few major events that they have on now. It's no doubt another responsibility delegated to the user, i.e us, that's low priority, if any priority at all? Music's always subjective isn't it. As long as it's not something with thumping base or pertaining to rap then I'm not too fussed. I never heard any of those tunes yesterday which is unusual, I must have been enjoying myself2 points

This needs to be addressed ASAP as neither team came out with any credit for yesterday’s ineptitudes. Get it sorted for the sake of British Speedway - it’s a basic requirement to have a decent track to race on!!2 points

Im not 100% certain Baggy and even if it did there was always the 'permission of the MC' caveat built in To be fair given the fact that Riss is currently injured rather than simply being dropped could be grounds for agreement anyway Id much rather Riss joins the Witches mind2 points

With a full redeclaration you would need special dispensation if you wish to reintroduce Riss I wonder if you would get that?......2 points

It’s bloody ridiculous when you know who bought it to public attention too. Trying to get sympathy then more and more stuff comes to light. Laughable, and probably won’t end well.2 points

Same. A brilliant track and I was so pleased when it was confirmed they'd come up. NSS and EOS are not just 2 of the best in the UK, they are 2 of the best in the world.2 points

Out of interest, as that's the first time that I can recall seeing you there this year, how many of the 8 Panthers home fixtures have you been to in 2019? That's in no way a dig at you or your excellent post, but our 6 fingered colleague has his cattle prod out and used your post to justify his Buster love in1 point

I am not at liberty to say any more. Just to say they are going to do something about it. Hopefully after the Peterborough meeting. Just depends on sourcing the right equipment to do the job.1 point

Sadly the days of attending Saturday night speedway and hearing at your chosen meeting the results from the likes of Canterbury, Rayleigh, Berwick, Workington, Coventry, Bradford etc. is be a distant but pleasant part of the history of speedway. In the current climate it will not ever happen particularly as the obsession with league racing to the detriment of individual meetings and challenge matches means that the choice of race meetings is limited and the new talent will not get the opportunity that riders had previously with the second half of a meeting. Sad to say but today supporters do not want anything less than league racing and that is one of the reasons why the up and coming riders are taking so long to come through the ranks. You cannot turn back time but some lessons could be learnt from the past if the sport is to go forward.1 point
