Didn't know what section to put this in,but as a great servant to British speedway i would like to wish Shane a speedy recovery from a cardiac arrest. Was a fun rider and served British speedway well and really enjoyed his time at Lynn. Copied from the BSPA Twitter below. GET WELL SOON |Shane Parker, a great servant to several British clubs throughout his career, has suffered a cardiac arrest back home in Australia.Everyone at the British Speedway Promoters’ Association sends ‘Parks’ and his family our very best wishes for a swift recovery.4 points

Give me an honest opinion Dave and tell me what you would do at this moment in time if you were still a promoter, because let's not kid ourselves plenty of fans as usual are becoming a bit disillusioned. If we are not careful our season will be over very soon.2 points

It's not him. Definitely not. It's some absolute weirdo like him but not him. He posts the same of crud on Facebook under his real name apparently.2 points

Beer and fags in a muddy field might satisfy a Neanderthal like Jenga, but 21st century shale fans like the option of a civilised G & T in warm and friendly surroundings before we enjoy our Guinee Fowl Blanquette, served of course with a pinch of thyme and a few alliums and hazelnuts.2 points

Sadly that is how the track has been prepared most of the time, slick on the inside knee deep against the fence, one racing line around the middle. If you are first out of the gate stay in the middle, race won. In short Berwick track at heat 1 is the same as most tracks after heat 152 points

Going by a statement made by Lee Kilby the future of the Sprockets looks in grave doubt.500 was the figure mentioned to cut even and if i hazarded a guess i recon there were 3/400 there.Such a shame a bloody good day out and i would of paid 18 quid to watch it some good racing and a slick presentation of races in general. Some great young talent on show who give everything and you can ask no more.Hopefully Lee might not give up on it entirely but it has to be viable it really worries me that the crowds are dwindling a real shame.2 points

When is the World ( and the BSPA in particular) going to wake up to the fact that the National League is a great product which deserves to be treated better ?2 points

I must admit I’ve not been on here for some time !! Only when I’m pointed towards it ! In the 1st instance I will declare a conflict of interests not as any kind of official of the club but as the wife of Martin Widman and the Mother of Chris. its unfair to unleash such criticism on Martin as anyone who knows him knows he is straight down the line and an open book. Him and Barry make all the decisions together and equally they are consummate professionals. No one person is bigger than the club. Onto Chris. You’d do right to criticise the start of his season and I know it’s nothing more than he has been doing. He’s had some spectacular bike issues and that has led to a lack of confidence on the track and That’s not a great combination. Just when he thinks he’s gotten sorted, following some long head scratching hours and visits tonengine tuners, something else happens, that’s this season. He had a nasty Crash last year at Cradley where he had to have a wrist plated and probably went back too soon but that’s him all over which explains his issues last season. Also he’s switched from JAWAs to GM’s which have taken some getting used to but I’m afraid that’s where my mechanical savvy ends. I’m sure Barry and Martin are looking at the best interests of the Club on a regular basis !! Thanks for reading and I’ll now leave you to your discussion on what seemed like a good meeting on Friday night. Sadly, I wasn’t able to go.1 point

When Klindt is winning of Gate 1 it's time to pack up. I had a lot of faith in this Wolves side, even with recent results.. but this is just pathetic.1 point

I thought Eastbourne looked a good team this year, especially after signing Kyle... Birmingham not so much, but they have strengthened... And have Ashley at reserve!! Mind you, Newcastle at the bottom of the league is still no good... I thought Berwick looked weak this year too...1 point

Hi, I am thinking about going to a Somerset meeting, the one against Glasgow at the end of July. Can someone give me any advice on which are the best (cheapest) hotels to stop in, maybe within walking distance? Where to park my car once I'm at the stadium, how much parking/tickets/programs are... Any advice for a first time visitor would be appreciated, thanks very much. Looking forward to seeing what Somerset has to offer.1 point

I think you'll find the National League of the late 80s ran with a no guest policy up until the league merger with the BL at the end of 1990. So it can be done.1 point

I heard but not sure if it was given as the official reason? Ablitt ruled out of the meeting due to concussion? If so thats an automatic 23 day cooling off period for his age bracket. Big miss for the Kings if true?1 point

If one big league could be done properly I think that would be great for British speedway, unfortunately I think the financial disparity between the haves and the have not means that there would be enormous gulfs between teams and it would be a very lopsided league. It would need to be done much, much better than 1995 that’s for sure.1 point

Brother of Richard. Also, he spells his name as Kris. Also rides for Exeter in the SDL/MDL League. Not a bad meeting. Track didnt appear any different to before. Almost as dusty, but not quite. Still needs work, in my opinion. Not often do you see a 'blue groove' all the way round the circuit. Yes, even the straights! Meeting was won and lost by Woods unfortunate bike problems. Harsh to blame him as he was good to watch. Others do need to look at their performances. Both Wood and Morley did as expected. One rider to single out on the Warriors side is Connor King. Rode and worked hard for every point, coming from the back on several occasions. Not often you see away reserves doing that. Well done that man. For me, the highlight of the meeting was the form of Adam Extance. Ive really enjoyed watching him emerge this season. He even led Morley (as tac sub) and Wood for a while before succumbing to their pressure. Ran out of steam in the end, but an excellent performance all the same.1 point

Going up against the fours at Peterborough didn't help Sid. Most of the neutrals would have headed for the showground. 35 races for £20 helped pull in a very good crowd.1 point

Shanes was in the Semi final of the European Grass track. ( which he won), which takes precedence and Paco was recalled by the Italian Federation for a three day event which they wouldn’t release him from Stoneman and Morris both got injured on Monday and were not fit to ride Zac Wajtknecht retired we only had two riders fit / available a joke!!!!1 point

Standardised machines and no guarantees of any kind or signing on fees but with hugely increased points money to encourage "hungry " riders to race for each point.1 point

Killing off team speedway would axe another 3rd of all supporters. Yea good idea.1 point

Problem is there is no atmosphere at live speedway these days, so you don't miss anything by watching it on TV. I watch ice hockey on TV and it is a bit dull, but go to a live match the atmosphere is electric with plenty of away supporters and lots of banter. I would always rather pay to watch a game live than watch it on TV.1 point

But g13webb didn't say there were 4 heats with no overtaking, he did say " 4 heats were won from the gate " So in 2 of them there was passing for the minor places. 13 - 4 = 9 + 2 = 11 Heats with overtaking.1 point

This is one area that really boils my pi$$ The gerrymandering around team changes linked to timing of average changes IMO if a change is made then the rolling average for the rider/s being replaced (and indeed coming in) should be updated at the date of the switch rather than use the out of date (albeit only by a few meetings) last months rolling average Too many times teams make changes at the end of a month to be within the limit only to be a point or two over come the 1st of the month without even riding another meeting1 point

Today has been a difficult day, mainly because we have moved to another room in a different part of the hospital where we are not familiar with surroundings. Sam has not had any change he is still having episodes of rapid movements followed by sleeping. Sam is having an mri scan Monday. We are finding it hard now being so far away from home. Keeping strong for Sam. Thank you to all your kind words of encouragement it helps us get through the day. Team Norris. Update on Sam`s condition, hopefully Sam`s family will get the support they require at this time1 point

At last... Sounds like some realisation and common sense has arrived.. Put out five man teams.. Grade the riders 1-5.. Grade five being young British riders or oldies but new to the sport. Have a maximum team average based on adding the mean average of every one of the five grades. Meaning no one can pick the best rider from each grade.. Run on nights you get your best crowds, with riders only getting contracts if they agree to be at every meeting. Only run on FIM nights when there are no riders impacted by the FIM meeting And have a maximum team payroll of £4500. 45 points at an average of £100 per point. Top riders £150 down to £50 for number fives.. That will mean it will cost circa £9k to pay for two matches from your home meeting.. £15 to get in, and just 800 punters would bring £12000.. Got to be do able 800 surely? And if you bring more in, performance pay the riders more. Let them be in charge of their own pay destiny.. Kids up to 18 free if in education.. And no g****s.. (wishful thinking). Lots of variety of teams.. More local ish derbies.. Lots of different riders only turning up once so, if decent, you won't get to see then again so you have to go.. Affordable to fans, on nights they want to watch, young fans in for free to help the future and credibility.. Come on Matt, you know it makes sense..!!1 point
