Give me an honest opinion Dave and tell me what you would do at this moment in time if you were still a promoter, because let's not kid ourselves plenty of fans as usual are becoming a bit disillusioned. If we are not careful our season will be over very soon.2 points

It's not him. Definitely not. It's some absolute weirdo like him but not him. He posts the same of crud on Facebook under his real name apparently.2 points

Beer and fags in a muddy field might satisfy a Neanderthal like Jenga, but 21st century shale fans like the option of a civilised G & T in warm and friendly surroundings before we enjoy our Guinee Fowl Blanquette, served of course with a pinch of thyme and a few alliums and hazelnuts.2 points

Sadly that is how the track has been prepared most of the time, slick on the inside knee deep against the fence, one racing line around the middle. If you are first out of the gate stay in the middle, race won. In short Berwick track at heat 1 is the same as most tracks after heat 152 points

Going by a statement made by Lee Kilby the future of the Sprockets looks in grave doubt.500 was the figure mentioned to cut even and if i hazarded a guess i recon there were 3/400 there.Such a shame a bloody good day out and i would of paid 18 quid to watch it some good racing and a slick presentation of races in general. Some great young talent on show who give everything and you can ask no more.Hopefully Lee might not give up on it entirely but it has to be viable it really worries me that the crowds are dwindling a real shame.2 points

When is the World ( and the BSPA in particular) going to wake up to the fact that the National League is a great product which deserves to be treated better ?2 points

SGP date was established months ago. Would have thought that someone from Cardiff, either the city or the football club, would have informed the soccer authorities not to give Cardiff City a home game on September 21st. Utter stupidity.1 point

Hi, I am thinking about going to a Somerset meeting, the one against Glasgow at the end of July. Can someone give me any advice on which are the best (cheapest) hotels to stop in, maybe within walking distance? Where to park my car once I'm at the stadium, how much parking/tickets/programs are... Any advice for a first time visitor would be appreciated, thanks very much. Looking forward to seeing what Somerset has to offer.1 point

i remember my first visit to the old scunthorpe track at ashby ville.no posh carvery,no bar so no posh drinks, no terracing.just grass to stand on, they did invest a little later with,if i can recall, and somebody correct me if i am wrongs sawn in half double decker bus as a stand.the pits were just corrugated sheet metal on a frame and the ref was put in some sort of a shed, no turnstiles just someone taking money at a table(re buxton)but the racing there always seemed good too.if you are a true speedway supporter then basically that is all you need.think there might have been refreshments van as well.happy days1 point

I heard but not sure if it was given as the official reason? Ablitt ruled out of the meeting due to concussion? If so thats an automatic 23 day cooling off period for his age bracket. Big miss for the Kings if true?1 point

I think that for this level of racing to be a success at Swindon they need to have their own riders and not just be a NL Select side. Apart from Anders Rowe there's no real association with Swindon from the side, and even he was a guest who actually rides for the opposition in the NL. I think if a batch of riders came through that were proper Swindon juniors like we had before - Chessells, Smarts, Broadbank and so on - it would catch on a lot more because the crowd could get more behind them.1 point

The NL has improved no end City a mix of different talent of all ages.Ledwith aged 46 was great value his gating was electric he would of scored even more but for a fall whoever said NL was full of wobblers.??1 point

Brother of Richard. Also, he spells his name as Kris. Also rides for Exeter in the SDL/MDL League. Not a bad meeting. Track didnt appear any different to before. Almost as dusty, but not quite. Still needs work, in my opinion. Not often do you see a 'blue groove' all the way round the circuit. Yes, even the straights! Meeting was won and lost by Woods unfortunate bike problems. Harsh to blame him as he was good to watch. Others do need to look at their performances. Both Wood and Morley did as expected. One rider to single out on the Warriors side is Connor King. Rode and worked hard for every point, coming from the back on several occasions. Not often you see away reserves doing that. Well done that man. For me, the highlight of the meeting was the form of Adam Extance. Ive really enjoyed watching him emerge this season. He even led Morley (as tac sub) and Wood for a while before succumbing to their pressure. Ran out of steam in the end, but an excellent performance all the same.1 point

Standardised machines and no guarantees of any kind or signing on fees but with hugely increased points money to encourage "hungry " riders to race for each point.1 point

You're right about the track, but past attempts to do something to surprise the away teams failed miserably. We even changed a bit of track geometry in 2017 and it didn't do nothing. If we changed the track drastically it'd take some time to adjust for our riders and we didn't have that comfort since we were struggling with staying in the league. Anyway, we'll raise Nice League standards with our stadium!1 point

At the end of the day, the Stars nearly done what they have been trying to do for over 50 years, in 2018.. Topped the league, and was unlucky with late injuries. Buster said he was going all out to go one better in 2019.. Then he bought 2 more clubs and his beloved Stars came to the back of the cue. And that's where we are.1 point
-
Agree with most of this, (especially the bit about the Stars not being one of the top teams!). I would say on the whole the racing of today is on a par with the past but then as now it's certain tracks that consistently produce good racing. There were some shocking tracks back in the 70's , Newport and Bristol instantly spring to mind and plenty of strung out races just like today.1 point

Good meeting, with a last heat decider Sprockets 45 Kent 44, also enjoyed the close racing. Hope it was viable and we can have more, Sprockets against Reading would be good.1 point

Any word on how much, lot of notes in the helmet colours. Fingers crossed for a good amount.1 point

Killing off team speedway would axe another 3rd of all supporters. Yea good idea.1 point

In a way I agree with you as the amount of changes Poole for example have made in recent years is ridiculous but for Lynn this year no more changes means no away wins, probably a home defeat or two and no Play Offs. I’m sure the vast majority of us would prefer to see us at least have a go at getting fourth.1 point

But g13webb didn't say there were 4 heats with no overtaking, he did say " 4 heats were won from the gate " So in 2 of them there was passing for the minor places. 13 - 4 = 9 + 2 = 11 Heats with overtaking.1 point

This is one area that really boils my pi$$ The gerrymandering around team changes linked to timing of average changes IMO if a change is made then the rolling average for the rider/s being replaced (and indeed coming in) should be updated at the date of the switch rather than use the out of date (albeit only by a few meetings) last months rolling average Too many times teams make changes at the end of a month to be within the limit only to be a point or two over come the 1st of the month without even riding another meeting1 point

Today has been a difficult day, mainly because we have moved to another room in a different part of the hospital where we are not familiar with surroundings. Sam has not had any change he is still having episodes of rapid movements followed by sleeping. Sam is having an mri scan Monday. We are finding it hard now being so far away from home. Keeping strong for Sam. Thank you to all your kind words of encouragement it helps us get through the day. Team Norris. Update on Sam`s condition, hopefully Sam`s family will get the support they require at this time1 point

I guess it comes down to the question if the sport (as opposed to the promoters with vested interests) need two 'top' leagues or not. If keeping them separate to allow the top riders to ride / earn at the top level, well that clearly doesn't work with only Doyle of the true 'Elite' still riding here. So why not accept the facts and adapt accordingly. Having a different team visiting each week rather than seeing a rotation of a few teams every couple of months would surely encourage the general fan base to come back each week. Clearly, there's not a big gap between the leagues anymore. so integration would be so much easier than in previous attempts. I used to hate the Rider Control idea as I was a Belle Vue fan, but needs must and if the sport is to survive, EVERY team needs to be competitive and more importantly, viable. When I was 11 in 1971 and going to my first season's meetings with Mum & Dad I'd be reading the Speedway Star on a Thursday and extolling the abilities of Reider Eide or Martin Ashby to them to 'persuade' them to take me on a Saturday to Hyde Road (they always did!) - I can't Imagine a young person now saying "oh, it's Brady Kurtz, Jacob Thorsell, Chris Harris coming to the NSS for the THIRD time in the last two months, can we go to watch.?" Adapt or die I'm afraid,1 point
