Well done Redcar , hope you go on and win it now . As I feared , Greaves at reserve was the key to our downfall , though their three heat leaders looked very quick also . Plus side for us was how competative and determined young Connor Bailey looked last night , he's going to be a good un. We've still plenty to race for yet , this is just a wee setback .6 points

Before thinking about away meetings, winning home matches is an absolute must for every speedway team in this country. 99% of fans don’t travel away to support their team so watching them win at home is all that matters to most. Winning away is an added bonus. For years teams have signed riders who are great at their home track but rubbish at most other tracks for that same reason. Josh Auty is one example of that nowadays. I can think of Simon Walker and Stephan Katt for Somerset in years gone by. Absolute world beaters at the OTA and knew every inch of the track but pretty useless away from home. Didn’t stop them becoming fan favourites though, purely because of their home exploits.5 points

The racing may have done, but Sir Shouty . . . . Is there no one else to do this job for British viewers? Please!4 points

I've said repeatedly that we should have a dozen or so races, and THEN start the meeting! Once a track has settled, it is so different... Steve3 points

Ripping a track up mid season , after it has produced some good and entertaining racing this season , makes no sense whatsoever . Track is the same for both teams , but it was still an odd decision and a massive own goal .3 points

Whilst it is good to be gracious in defeat, one should also not gloat (too much) in victory, certainly not to the extent of abuse - to mirror a previous comment it is good to see genuine Bears/Speedway fans enjoy the victory and be grateful!!!3 points

Terry that does the track at Redcar gets the track there the same every week it’s never been that good he knows his stuff wish there were a few more like him around the country3 points

Clubs have no money but you want them to subsidise a coach for the 20 or so away fans that they may be lucky to have follow them who would follow them anyway? How do you police the 'away' fans? Do they have to produce I.D.??? I travel 80 miles each week to my nearest track, am I an ' away ' fan ? Fans don't travel because it's too expensive to attend two meetings a week , with travel, entrance and food, it's only the hardcore that still follow their team. An example was my club last season when they gave an award to ONE fan who had attended every fixture , home and away.....ONE fan! says a lot really.2 points

To say a team has choked is doing the opponent a disservice. The word choke is used by the numerous wum on here to start an argument or gloat.2 points

Redcar pushed Glasgow to a last heat decider last night, definitely won’t be a pushover2 points
-
For the benefit of sensible fans no one is suggesting that over the 2 legs Redcar didn't deserve to win. What most Glasgow fans want to know is what happened to the track and why and why do it prior to a crucial match against a good team. Why not do it before a match with a diddy team like the monarchs. We had enjoyed good racing with the Tigers riders enjoying smooth lines inside and out and then we get ruts, slick, grippy and patchy in just one bend _ riders comments not mine So why o why2 points

It's been not easy at times for the Bears fans since you came back in 2006 , but this season you have a team capable of winning silverware and out of the teams left in the cup , I don't see any of them beating the Bears over two legs2 points

The views of a real sporting speedway fan. As most proper speedway fans are. Two teams ride, not just one. Believe me, following the Bears has seen a lot more lean times than most, but they are my team, through good and bad, it's nice to have a bit of the good times. UTB !!2 points

Congratulations to the Bears , the better team over 2 legs, Nathan Greaves the match winner for you. We missed Rasmus on Tuesday for sure, however it may not have made much difference as we struggled on the track as it was totally different to the previous week, this due to major track work being done during the week to fix the bends, resulting in it breaking up a bit. I hope the Bears go on and win the cup , they deserve some success and they are going to push a few teams this season.2 points

At least if one reads it all and understands it, they will be one step ahead of Nige and Kelv2 points

You should maybe consider changing the ers after Bell in your username and replace it with end. But thanks for your mature reply.2 points

Most congratulated the Bears don't know where you get that from. Money bags comment rears its head again , if being proactive in promoting the sport and doing there best to give the best facilities and team then i dont see what is wrong with that. Do you.2 points

So why don't the home team ride it like they find it? The simple fact is little Redcar put it up money bags Glasgow tonight and a few people can't handle it! Ha ha. UTMFM! The track didn't seem to hamper Craig Cook tonight did it although he dipped out of heat 15 with the result on the night in the balance.2 points

Taken it well I see. I’d respectfully suggest your point about the Bears moving to put the rider next to them off is wrong and the sour taste in your mouth is actually sour grapes. Nothing at all under hand about Andersen not riding tonight (he had a decent meeting in Denmark tonight though if you are interested)2 points

Five man teams, (you only need two riders each per race).. Salary capped to £5k a match, regardless of number of rides, £1500 to No1 down to £500 for No5 at intervals of £250 a position... Meaning No3 (Mr Average) gets a grand a night.. Total cost for both home and away matches is £10k.. Try a 12 team league first up (expand as and when more riders are available), meaning 60 riders needed which would then also mean a good few 'subs on the bench' for replacements.. (No guests!) Home and away twice each team means 44 league matches, 22 home and 22 away,.. Charge £15 per adult, kids free (U18) and 1000 punters would give you £15k pay the £12k needed for riders for both meetings, and VAT, and leave £3k over towards your home meeting costs... Maybe run a 'pay to ride' second half to help offset some of these meeting costs and give budding riders track time, (plenty of motorsports do "pay to compete" days).. Team strength would need to be Championship No1/Premiership Second or Third Heat Leader level, down to NL No1/Championship reserve I would suggest.. 44 matches (ex play offs) equals £66k for No1 down to £22k for No5... Not a fortune but as a job for just six months of the year not too bad, and nothing stops you getting a job during the winter..2 points

The classic design from 1937 to 1973 was simple and striking. Most of what came after was ill-advised and needlessly fussy. Are Wimbledon the only team whose colours were a foreign flag? (Vietnam). Was Ho Chi Minh a closet Dons fan? Is there a Ronnie Moore Boulevard or a Mark 'Buzz' Burrows street in Hanoi? I think we should be told.2 points

Belle Vue were 2nd best coming out of turn 2 lap1 in most of the heats, Poole have riders who love the NSS, give them an advantage and they will win most heats. That is exactly what happened. Poole were the better team on the night and deserved their win, Belle Vue were 2nd best on the night and did well to stop Poole getting 4 pts.1 point

Steve and Scott came to Britain together at the same time. You would think they were total opposites, Scott...the humble quiet polite guy, Steve...the arrogant, loud aggressive guy. But Steve off of the track was actually very quiet, polite and well mannered.Competition brought out the worst in him, I saw it first hand! I met Steve once and what a nice guy he was very quiet not like his reputation at all.As a rider he was very tough indeed took no prisoners i do remember when poor old Steve took the blame at Reading when clearly Milan Spinka caused carnage which caused Tony Briggs to crash.Steve and Barry Briggs had a right old ding dong over that the crowd loved it though all part and parcel of speedway then.1 point

It's not an excuse it's fact. You obviously didn't have to sit watching 3 tractors and various trucks going round and round and round and round, riders and ref visiting the track. Redcar did what was needed, congratulations to them. I just want to know what happened during the week that caused so many problems tonight.1 point

I guess the score line doesn't suggest as much...however, what a quality meeting, some fantastic racing on show. All Scunny riders performed well, all producing race wins. Pick of the bunch and perhaps man of the match was Simon Lambert, constantly in the thick of the action...the win over Doolan in a stupendous heat 12 being the highlight of the meeting. Danny Ayres also worth singling out, paid 15 from 6, brilliant, what an impact he's had since joining Scunny. All the other Scorpions put in solid effort in what proved a comfortable home win. Really impressed with Kevin Doolan tonight, he was worth the admission money alone, his heat 3 win was pretty special, a fantastic ride, a brilliant race. Backed up by Aaron Summers, who got better as the meeting progressed... and to a lesser extent Coty Garcia. Unfortunately, Etheridge, Gappmaier and Edwards, despite giving their best, got very little to show for their efforts.1 point

2nd turn used to be quite a good viewing spot, but the view there is now obstructed by the air fence, so there is little point in trying to do anything about it. One of the planning conditions is that there must be an unobstructed passage for driving an ambulance to all parts of the stadium, so that precludes constructing terracing there. The GRA have always been very co-operative, but they won't allow any structure that might interfere with the greyhound racing programme. That's why there is no roof on part of the first bend terracing - if we restore the roof, part of the dog track cannot be seen from one of the executive boxes. The flat area along the home straight doesn't make for good viewing but it has to stay like this for the bookies, but the view from inside the grandstand/bar is superb and it can accomodate more than 800 all with a first class view. I'm not complaining about the restrictions though - just pointing out the reasons for those who wonder why!1 point

I’ve never rated berge, always seemed to have a poor attitude to me on his Foxhall visits over the past few seasons - makes the start in one race and looks a word beater, misses the start and gives up in all the others! Couldn’t understand so many people on the forum raving about him being a potential trump card and people putting him in their team predictions/hopes at many different clubs during the winter1 point
