I’m not comfortable about Sheffield being hammered for dropping a British rider, they have to pick the seven who they believe give them the best chance of winning meetings regardless of nationality.

NKI was Lynn bound if Lambert had been ruled out for the season. When this didn’t happen Buster, out of decency to Puk found him a home at one of his other places of work. I don’t see what the problem is. If NKI had wanted to start the season he would have been at Lynn, he didn’t.

Truth is speedway's always (in the 50-odd - some very odd - years I've been around anyway) been a gaters' sport, with some honourable exceptions. Ivan Mauger wasn't famous for his from the back victories was he? Ole Olsen, Hans Nielsen, Eric Gundersen, Bruce Penhall, even Tony Rikk won their world titles because they gated more often than the others - Peter Collins won one, largely because he didn't. Didn't make any of them unwatchable in the slightest.

I really do hope that the BSPA see sense and do not allow Eurosport to get the British Speedway broadcast rights as it will be a budget production gone will be your UHD coverage with multiple camera angles they will look at doing a more remote production with around 4 cameras and commentary done from London to save costs. As much as it pains me to say it but BT sport have done a good job in broadcasting Speedway since taking over with new innovation and fresh sense of broadcasting

New Cross Ranger...there's a name to bring back my memories of early post war Speedway in London. Used to love to go down the Old Kent Rd to the "Frying Pan" when the Hammers rode there. Eric Chitty was a master of New Cross, but the greatest of all was the king of balance, Ron Johnson. Very pleased that, like myself, you are still a keen fan. I now go every week to Sittingbourne Central Park as the Hammers are no more. I like the comfort and viewing, suits my tired old legs ! Not a bad young team either !

So . . a confession from Mr R that televised speedway DOES affect attendances trackside I’ve said this all along, and I still see no benefit to the sport in having league matches televised live in the UK It’s not as if it’s a great product to advertise to the wider public in the current format Much better would be a carefully edited weekly highlights package - just show the races, and sensible interviews post-meeting instead of the gap-filling chats as at present Put together a package that just might attract new spectators and ex-attendees to the tracks

The biggest problem is giving them decent tracks to perform on, like the last 2 GP’s

Poland who might just know a bit about how to run the sport haven’ t ever picked riders such as Protasiewcz and Hampel as track reserves !! They have always picked youngsters to give them an experience of the big stage- just shows the light years difference between the sport in the 2 countries !!!
