Yeah saw that seems settled at Berwick so was a no brainer , he wasn't in our plans it seems or he maybe wanted to remain at Berwick himself , either way good luck to Spud and Berwick always gave his all for us.4 points

Perhaps now is the time to say that NDL lads stepping up to the CL should be 'protected' by keeping them at reserve for their first season?4 points

Will you please stop including Danny Phillips. Couldn't put up with him for another season.4 points

And that was why Paul was crucial for the team - heat 14 wins. Sometimes I can't understand some of the 'comments/ criticism' that appears on here. If Paul scored well it tended to mean Claus didn't and vice versa. Claus was criticised mid way thru the season as having his usual dip yet by the end of the season he was incredible and had upped his average which, with due respect, at his age is something to be proud of.3 points

A speedway forum is the perfect place to have your say, however if you are not prepared to back up you posts perhaps you shouldn't post it. Just my opinion.2 points

This is an absurd line of argument from Castagna too. My simple question is: "If that's the case then what new and wider audiences were attracted by the 25pts for the winner system in the early 2000s?" Show us the evidence, show us the market research.2 points

Sorry for delay in replying, been away for the weekend. I have a business supplying food for vending machines, & buffets for companies & private parties. The vending machine food is filled rolls, sandwiches, wraps, pies, cakes etc. It has been established 18 years, & I have never ripped off any of my customers. Your turn.2 points

Think those you mentioned plus Matej Kus; Kenni Larsen and Jonas Raun are still on the books; I would suggest Steve Park or Tsunami could fill the picture in further better than I could... Regards THJ Oh and what about Claes Nedermark and Anton Rossen?2 points

Id have Paul back as well. think he struggled a wee bit at home due to his engines but had just hit form when he suffered a really bad injury. From what I could see he is also a good team man. In the end it will be decided by the points limit but if it is 42 or 42.50, Paul to me would be a no brainer.2 points

I agree. This is change for change sake. I can't help but think that this is just the result of fresh blood within the SGP organisers who - like a lot in elite sport - want to be seen to be making their contribution. This is the result of that, not the greater good of the series. I am a fan of the SGP and the job that IMG/BSI have done. But the area of real stagnation is in venues. On the face of it, Togliatti is progress. But in recent years, we have lost Stockholm, Copenhagen, Australia and New Zealand. The trend is regression rather than progression on that front. A new scoring format can't smokescreen the SGP retreating to traditional audiences rather than expanding to new audiences. That's the major failure of the SGP organisers and one in which IMG's global reach really should have been able to unlock by now.2 points

Yes I am talking about Rasmus Jensen . He has hardly pulled up any tree in the Uk before this season and may not next season. i think turning your nose up at someone of King or Lawsons calibre to replace a rider who until this season has spent his uk career as a second string is a bit snobby to say the least.2 points

No rumours on potential signings yet but this is how you should treat your sponsors. http://www.leicesterspeedway.com/_mobile/news.php?extend.31567.1&fbclid=IwAR0Id9tOlE40LD37y1W4EqXuZFnYd1qvsaCYnoDovwigISfCmZJcdPO7Ebw2 points

Is that because his Dad will still be involved? Even if we have to include a low average reserve next season depending on points limits and make up of our team i wouldn't entertain Phillips. He's just not improving and has been around long enough now. He's at best a second string NL rider. Nothing against the lad but just my opinion and if he was my son I'd keep him to racing in the NL. Don't think anyone else in the Championship apart from Newcastle would include him anyway.1 point

Professional ,dedicated and ambitious is what makes most talent succeed.Unfortunately a lot of young riders think they make made it when they have a van with their name on it.Its a hard game and very few make the top.Age is not a factor. IMO . ps They need a bit of luck though.1 point

By chance I have just come across this site and saw a mention of Romford Speedway and it took me straight back to those days. Before I go on, I will say that I loved all speedway, anything with motorbikes. When I heard that speedway was coming to Romford, it took a bit of believing, living in Brentwood just 10 minutes away. Well, it turned out to be the most exciting time. We would go to West Ham-Hackney-Rayleigh and now Romford. I could go on and on.....but it reminded me of my Romford programs which are tucked away, but I came across these old 'Speedway Stop Press', always on sale on race night, only kept them because they are my illustrations on the covers. I think I won 10 bob for them.1 point

Does mean little, because that is fantasy land. If speedway had a good marketing and promotional strategy in the US or Australia or basically anywhere apart from Poland it wouldn’t be in the actual position it finds itself in1 point

Fully agree with you Steve0. His form for Berwick was at best average. Which is exactly where he is at. Feel sorry for any team in either division who think they are signing a bargain rider.1 point

To get back on topic The one guy I would consider having back would be forgotten man Paul Starke on a 6.49 average I could see him putting a point on that no problem... although not sure how that would go down with the Glasgow faithful and whether they would want him back but he did have a bad injury which curtailed his season and to be fair he started slow last season (2019) but then started to get his act together only to be crocked when it seemed he was starting to come good... Why do we need the king of diamonds Danny king when we have the ace in the pack Danny Phillips...1 point

Definitely not, it would give those teams with the best NDL reserves a big advantage.1 point

Of course it may end up that the 7th and 8th in SGP2020 get 2 of the extra wildcards. So ultimately the switch to only the top six qualifying by right may make little difference to the personell in SGP2021. But ... during the SGP year it has always been the top 8 placing that has seems to drive competition in the lower reaches of the points table and maintain interest in their scoring. At least for the commentators who make great play of this. Raising the bar to the top six will just make it look as if there are just more riders 'out of contention' and from even earlier in the SGP year. Have less to race for themselves. And have less for us (and for NP/KT) to care about too. Just not really sensible ?1 point

Could the new points system lead to cheating ? If points from heats 1-20 dont count toward the Championship could a rider who is safe for the semi let a team sponsor mate win a race so that he also reaches the semi. It will happen.1 point

Ok fair enough thanks for that. I didn't say they didn't have phones etc and i thought wrongly that he was moving father away than France. I do think that Danny will struggle with the media spotlight which is probably another reason why the decision was taken to drop a league. That's my opinion not based on any facts or knowledge of how Poole Speedway works. As you say MF was still the main decision maker, with that in mind, he made some bad team decisions last season which is why i thought he had taken his eye of the ball.1 point

Just think Schlein helps out doing the no limit training schools as well doesn’t he? So he’ll be passing on his awful attitude to the younger riders.1 point

What's wrong with 16 year old Palin riding in the 2nd division. 16-year-old Peter Collins, Chris Morton, Michael Lee, Kenny Carter, Andy Smith, are just a few riders I remember riding in the 1st division.1 point

Several reasons why teams request to drop.. With financial being the obvious one. With the underlying reasons of there being absolutely no kudos by winning any Speedway title nor any attainment levels to aspire too from the lowest league to the top.. No disrespect but a Grand Final in Speedway (UK), is akin to two bald men fighting over a comb.. Therefore what difference does it make to the clubs what league they race in? Hardly anyone cares who wins. There is almost zero National coverage.. And there is no financial reward worth speaking of, in fact, as we see, successful clubs can actually lose money and go bust by winning!! Therefore you might as well decide amongst yourselves where you want to compete, and at the end of the day you can watch pretty much the same set of riders anyway so no loss there.. As you say, it sends out all the wrong messages, but that's where the sport is in the UK, and I suppose the overall thoughts are better to have clubs still in existence than not.. An ever decreasing circle though isn't it?1 point
