I’d have thought the main attractions of riding for Glasgow would be the excellent track, the professional image and being treated properly by good business people. It seems that riders and supporters really enjoy being part of the club and it comes across a million times better than any other UK club on social media. I’d certainly say Glasgow is the place to be in the Championship.8 points

I’ve got to be honest and say I’m disappointed. I fully understand they have to work to a budget, but this has the look of a side that will struggle near the bottom of the league table. Didn’t expect to see Gappmaier and Garcia back.5 points

I thought FRN’s were designed to avoid fixture clashes with both the Championship and foreign leagues? Realistically it was never going to get missing big names racing here again whatever might have been claimed. But in terms of making sure riders fulfil fixtures rather than racing elsewhere it’s worked reasonably well.5 points

i would imagine the team has been built to a budget to try and keep the club financially viable. If the post on the Glasgow thread is true that they lost £100k again this season then good luck to them and others in a completely different world to Berwick and other teams with less wealthy backers.I would doubt if Berwick would survive with losses a fraction of that. The team had to lose points somewhere from this season to get down to the 41 point limit and it probably avoided wholesale changes with Kevin stepping down.I agree it doesn't look the strongest team but neither did this year's and they did ok.Cook also hates the Berwick track but does ok on it and although totally different quality riders you can't write off Bickley because he said he didn't like the track.I'm not defending the promotion as being faultless but in the real world you cut your cloth to fit the situation. In any case if if any rider is underperforming in a meeting he can always take a "comfort break" and Mr.Doolan can put on his kevlars and helmet if he's in the pits.Nobody would know.5 points

The assumption that we flash the cash always rears it's head , this even when they really haven't a clue what the deal is. I would hazard a guess that paying when they are supposed to be paid is more accurate.4 points

Yeah, I think his Edinburgh home scores this year would confirm that............Get a grip!!!..... 13+1 11 13+2 7+1 15+1 10+2 7+4 10+1 10+1 12+1 8+1 13 7+1 14+1 12+14 points

To be fair I’m not unrealistic enough to expect them to be going out and signing riders like what Glasgow do. However, how can that 1-7 be justified. How can Bickley (3pt reserve) replace Doolan ? The team isnt even built upto the points limit. I am aware they operate on a budget but if thats the case why not just go into the NL and be 1 of the better clubs.3 points

The return of Nicki Pedersen to the British League is a much more positive signal for speedway in the Uk than any of the decisions taken at this year's AGM of the BSPA.3 points

Could you quantify how you can claim the 95%? How is this measured? Have you a graph you could show your data on!? Or is this assessment once again like all of your proposed teams, across multiple threads, using multiple aliases, complete conjecture? I’m not the best at maths so this could be the incorrect method but if you’re 95% sure it’ll be one of these two teams, does that mean you’re only 42.5% sure of either team meaning there’s a 57.5% chance that both of them are incorrect?!3 points

I would never boycott my team over an individual rider 2006/7 paying to watch Hamill the spoon week in week out was a bit tricky, but your team is the bigger picture.3 points

I agree, wouldn't want Ben in my team for the exact same reasons, just thought he's a former Brummies and would complete a 6/7 British team NOOOO!! You've already got Ashley... Don't take Matty too Not to mention my favourite Finn went to my least favourite team... It's nearly as bad as Robbo signing for Redcar a few years back... Thought he's be at Poole... I like THJ... Wouldn't mind seeing him at Brough2 points

Seemed to remember when Briggo went over there that it was reported that betting was a huge part of the sport. Riders, back then, were locked away in isolation for several days before meetings to avoid the possibility of race rigging.2 points

Okay at home with heavy defeats away have summed up Berwick over the last few seasons, in essence its Doolan out Bickley in and IMO we are poorer for it.2 points

Must all be on mega points money as I've heard Glasgow's loss for last year is another 100k plus !!2 points

Totally agree with you regarding Dan, end of season looking much better, & his trip to Australia banging in some very good meetings. He is a remarkable talent2 points

Kurtz 7.54 Lidsey 5.16 Wright 6.68 Bewley 6.31 Holder 7.49 Pickering 4.65 Ayres 3.67 Exchanged Sedgman for Pickering - I cannot believe this lad does not have a Premiership place and he'd be fantastic at the NSS - otherwise the same. Ayres would be a brilliant signing and its surprising no one else has mentioned him. Best of all ? 41.5 on the nail (not including reductions for Wright, Bewley and Ayres).2 points

Nicki is box office end of, arguably the most professional for many a year, not the most naturally gifted, but worked very hard to have achieved 3 World titles. Upmost respect for the guy2 points

I hope Rasmus isn’t out of a job in 2020 because of his massive improvement in 2019. We moan that top riders don’t ride here then make it hard for the big improvers.1 point

Jimmy Ogisu I think his name was, who rode at Plough Lane in the Internationale Remember seeing a film on the sport at one of the Motorbike shows in the 70s at Olympia or Earls Court, probably at the MCN stand1 point

I have been busy looking at some online old newspapers archives and in the Daily Mirror dated Friday 8 April 1938 on page 34 it reported on a spectacular Johnnie Hoskins event that was due to take place on Tuesday 3 May when a speedway rider at West Ham would race against a cheetah. The rider as normaill would be on the track being pursued by the animal on the greyhound track with a large piece of meat attached to an electric hare. Bluey Wilkinson, when asked by the paper if he would race against the cheetah for £5 as most of the West Ham rider were shy of racing against the beast and he replied "no, I'll let him have it". The Daily Mirror then stated that the speedway riders place would be taken by a animal trainer who happens to be a speedway rider, but sadly they did not mention his name. Although, I have checked further Daily Mirror's for the race result unfortunately I could not find it.1 point

I mean you had a 2 point reserve guesting at just over £100 a point one meeting last season. Cause he originally didn’t want to do it. Even then he was on £55 a point. Can only imagine what the rest are on.1 point

Could we see an home & away challenge against Sheffield, similar to last season, when we rode against Ipswich. A win-win situation for the owners, potential big crowds at both venues to allow fans to see the return of Pedersen.1 point

Jack Thomas is a terrific signing on that average imo, I honestly thought his average was between 4 and 5 as hes a rider I've always rated. He can definitely add a few points onto that! Just one rider to sign and if we can sign a solid heat leader then I think we have a good side, so different from the start of last season anyway. Credit to the management with the side they have put together1 point

Like it and never say never but I think Bjarne's Polish commitments might put pay to that... Oh and apart from the No7 who I would only have back if he was working in the track shop... sorry but it's time the kid seen the light... I know you need to be made of the right stuff to be a Speedway rider well Danny is made of the wrong stuff... not just the wrong stuff but the wrong stuff in all the wrong places... Regards THJ1 point

Ok, a silly guess at,,, Bjarne 11.05 Matty 6.92 Ludde 6.47 Smetana 5.00 Max 4.93 Sarj 3.90 Danny 2.17 Total 40.44 Once Bjarne gets an EMA, we can strengthen and bring Bucky in.1 point

Good to have Jack at the Barr, has always ridden it well in the past and could be a shrewd signing at reserve. Has enough quality and will have a point to prove too. Promotion doing a superb job with the team and I reckon our last rider could well be another great signing. Fingers crossed!1 point

Always dodgy signing a rider coming back from a bad accident, good luck to the lad though.1 point

Of course they would. He is proper box office material and most want the best British rider back racing in the UK. Plus it’s not rocket science, the more top riders in the top flight the bigger the crowds. Nicki will add to most turnstiles next year, that’s a great thing. Ditto Zmarzlik, Emil. Woffy would certainly add more thru the turnstiles, probably more than a rider past his best.1 point
