Really enjoyed the second meeting after the shambles from Rybnik. Good first effort from Gorzow without NKI against easily the strongest side again. When Zmarzlik gets going I think Gorzow will have a decent season. I thought Thomsen acquitted himself well and Wozniak as ever is a strong road block if he can gate. KK just same old frustrating KK. Leszno again going to be tough to beat. Emil and Piotr so strong with great backup (generally) from Kolodziej and then the bundles of improvement still to come from Kubera, Kurtz and Smektala. Personally don't mind there being no crowd as I'm only really interested in the quality of racing. Anyone saying this is on a similar level to Britain needs to give their head a considerable shake.4 points

Poland should be pleased with themselves. How can you blame them for looking after themselves. They lead the way on crowds, pay, TV coverage. Rather than be upset other countries should attept to match. Watch some Polish speedway its very good. Cutting your own nose off by missing out.4 points

Everyone apart from the rybnik reserves would walk into a championship side so bit of a silly comment.3 points

The backing Poland has is also a huge sway. I was watching a video last week, I think it was the PM or a significant political person who happens to be a huge speedway fan. All the local councils back it, they have great tv and other sponsorships. That they have started racing with empty stadiums tells you everything. If we did that here, it would implode. When you have a set of circumstances like that it’s so easy to build a successful business. Until local councils invest in speedway as a leisure business instead of approving stadium demolitions, then we will never have the chance to replicate what happens over there. And of course they won’t do that if there isn’t demand, and dwindling supporter numbers really does drive that, and that is where promoters can step in and start to change the demographic of supporter. If we had full stadiums, big sponsorship and great tv deals there is no way half of what happens today would be occurring. It happens because next to nobody cares. We haven’t recycled the supporter base and that is ultimately what will kill the sport here. Sometimes sports just fly in certain places. Football in this nation is huge, but conversely has nowhere near the following in Poland. It’s horses for courses and it would seem the UK at the moment doesn’t have a horse.3 points

In a way, it’s abit like doubling up. Makes perfect sense though and avoids the stupid situation you get in Britain where one rider is representing nearly every team in the league.2 points

No probs - we moved up to the top tier and in my opinion, especially the 2nd season we were there, it was the best season of speedway I’ve watched. We had such an exciting team with Doyle, Wright, Holder etc it was what I had come to expect from Somerset. I completely get the sums didn’t add up and they had to drop back down to make it viable but once you’ve been watching that for a few years, to drop back down, pay the same price and a few uninspiring teams in my view since, plus a change in circumstances in my current life just made it no longer value for money and viable for myself anyway. I get and understand the decision, but doesn’t mean I have to go along with it.2 points

You sound like one of the many CleverDicks who know exactly how to promote Speedway but have never had to guts to do it.2 points

I always thought the promoters missed a trick when Sky first started to show live speedway, when they could have allowed fans in for free or a nominal fee, to get crowd levels up and make a spectacle for the cameras. You could cover the loss in takings by attracting a match sponsor and allow them basically free reign to plug their business in return. Give them hospitality, give them plenty of exposure to the live crowd and allow them a couple of spots on the TV, take part in the coin toss / award the rider of the night in front of the cameras, so they get their money's worth. Keep the newbies entertained between races with quizzes giving away free tickets to future matches to get them back again, plenty of interviews with riders / managers / crowd. It might work, who knows. It's worth a try surely?1 point

Bewley will be fine. He’s a level down from Robert and Tai. The point he scored yesterday, Craig would never have done that. He’d never have passed anyone once at the back. I was actually pretty positive about his speed yesterday. He just needs to grow a pair of bollox. Rob there with a great example on Vaculik. Moved him over bend 2, Martin not happy but that’s speedway.1 point

Also, I couldn’t make any sense of the google translation but I seen they ran a story on Matej Zagar this morning. What was that all about? Presumably running him down after his shocking display on Friday for Lublin. Edit: this was a translation that made me laugh: A few competitors are riding in Wroclaw without a tooth and despite being spanked, they have a smile stuck to their faces1 point

It`s only come in this season because of the covid 19 situation.- teams are allowed to use 1 guest rider( from a lower league) to replace someone in the top 5( still must have 2 Poles in top 5) and one other guest can be used if a rider goes down with Covid infection.1 point

I'm really enjoying the reruns too but yeah the two "presenters" hmm. I never watch "as live" for the specific reason that I can just fast forward their bit and all the other chat pish, or should that be pish chat and just enjoy the racing. It's the fact that they look to the side when the other one is talking. It's really really weird.1 point

He used to be the track photographer and was present at the stadium when Dag Lovaas made a fleeting visit last year?1 point

The real "elephant in the rooom" must surely be that it would be more fun to burn your money in an old oil drum or maybe just have a giant firework display than throw it all away in setting up speedway racing at these iconic venues ( which I greatly enjoyed at, in the past ). No-one can make speedway pay any more without the bulk of the income to run it coming from major sponsors. Speedway has had it's day in the UK I feel.1 point

Haven't they got that roof on yet? I thought that was the reason why it closed... at least that was the story we were being fed at the time1 point

Rider safety comes first is a contradiction in itself ,if it came first then the sport would make riders use a more adaptable engine, the engine used today is power and nothing else, safety doesn’t even come into it ,speedway is dangerous, if you don’t like it don’t ride1 point

How many club commentators have the integrity to describe the home pair's attempt at a first bend as "An utter disgrace and they have got exactly what they deserve!=". My hat goes off for such honesty (and bravery).Pass on my appreciation :-D I'm loving these meetings from Armadale. I can now see what great racing it can provide.1 point

Hi folks just a quick message to let you know that Poole Pirates Team Manager Neil Middleditch has very kindly donated a piece of Pirate Treasure help Poole Town Football Club raise funds to keep the club going through this period of closure. You can place a bidding by visiting their website www.pooletownfc.co.uk or find info on their Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn. Or just Email a bid to info@pooletownfc.co.uk We’re all missing our speedway in Poole. At least the Polish meetings will give us something to watch for now. Good luck bidding!!1 point
