Personally imo if riders put Poland and another league or two before the UK which i can understand from a riders perspective as Zloty rules. But if they are dropped by their team or not getting many starts they shouldn't be allowed back to ride in the UK for the season. We can't be seen as a soft touch. Some of those may already be thinking if i get dropped by my overseas team i will always get a spot back in the UK.Don't let them take the mick.4 points

Promoting the young Brits in both leagues is a great move forward. 2021 is the first step forward after the grim reeper saw off 2020. Hopefully ,this is a new start where British Speedway is run for the benefit of the Sport as opposed to promoters looking after their own individual needs. Having Eurosport on board is another boost for Speedway... in particular Speedway on Quest for a broader section of the public to watch Speedway on the TV. Cautious optimism as far as I am concerned3 points

Luke ruddick to edinburgh perhaps? Instead of james... had a good 2019 nl season... and surely he counts as a 'rising star'2 points

Amen to that. In fact, we should all be happy if the sport can see a way forward and not disappear altogether.2 points

Potentially add a condition where nobody over an average of 6 or something can be included. This then begs the next question, what happens this year if say Drew Kemp rides at reserve and averages 7+? Is he just going to hung out to dry mid season like Boxall and Armstrong were when this was previously trialled? Something will need to be in place.2 points

Dan Bewley at No7 for Belle Vue a possibility if just U24 designation used I'd say that's why it's more specific and 'regulated'2 points

Nailed on Lynn i think with him opting out of Redcar, this will keep him at the 3 league Polish rule with him doing Sweden too.2 points

Agree with you again Najjer, do you remember "Keep it simple" already long forgotten... What is needed these young guns need to have races v their apposite numbers, have a minimum of rides per meeting & a minimum £ guarantee per meeting. Now (2021) would be a great time to reintroduce second half's - not like the old style riders taking or leaving it BUT an exciting & meaningful addition to the main event, what would be the cost? riders, bikes & everything else already in place & a sponsor to finance the final.2 points

I’ve thought about this and I think it’s a classic case of British Speedway over complicating things. Why have all this graded nonsense? Why not just say the no.7 is designated to British U24 riders and have done with it? Teams can pick their riders to suit no matter how good or bad they do, taking the lead from Poland in this respect. The intentions are very good but the execution is just missing in my opinion. Some may argue that could open up a bidding war for the best riders but that is likely to happen even with gradings come next year. The whole grading system just opens up such unneeded debates where teams will try and screw each other over by insisting their riders should be graded lower and opposing riders graded higher... we’ve been here before with that!2 points

Extremely sad news from Poland that Kamil Pulczynski has died in his sleep aged 28. Him and his twin brother Emil both rode for Torun as juniors. Lately Kamil had been mechanicing for riders such as Jason Doyle and Freddie Lindgren.1 point

Winners and losers I just don't get this any more we will end up with some super stars riding in possibly 3 league's and some with no team place1 point

Can see why they were so keen to keep that team. They look like a professional Club with a plan. You can be sure Poole Leicester and Glasgow will be right at the top too I think.1 point

Where yo lookin? He has this time as well... if it's wrong let me know it's easily corrected.. Taken off the old teams list and James won't be the rising star and that Edinburgh team will change... not unlike the Newcastle team where a young British rider had to be cut to accommodate a errrrrrm young British rider classed as a rising star.... nuts...1 point

Eastbourne and Leicester look the teams to beat imo... Assuming Leicester's last signing is a decent one1 point

How about... Assuming it's Nick Morris who Wolverhampton drop, which seems most likely... 1. Brady Kurtz 7.54 2. Steve Worrall (c) 5.53 3. Charles Wright 6.51 4. Nick Morris 5.38 5. Dan Bewley 6.15 6. Jye Etheridge 4.35 7. Jordan Palin FTR (Or someone more experienced? Flint? Bickley?) Total: 35.46 (All Brits have gotten 2.5% reduction, I assume all Brits qualify for one?)1 point

I wish Lewis all the best. But here comes the "but". For me, anyway. He's been out 4 years, thats a long time. I wonder how he is going to like a big fast grippy track, where you need fast bikes, and some fair size gonads. I doubt he has top equipment, if any yet ,and they don't come cheap. Also he seems to be in and out of love with the sport. So can he commit for a full season and give 100% ? Having said that i wish him all the best for whoever he rides for. .1 point

agree that the PL wouldn't appear to be what it says on the tin. it would appear to exist only to provide enough fixtures for the double up riders. league fixtures alone it's 20 PL and 32 CL one big league is only 34 in total1 point

Someone will be without a team place now anyway. Redcar already had to bin 2 riders, one being a young Brit so the new rule really done wonders there.1 point

When he rode for BV Cubs in 2019, he started the season at no7 and scored a 15 point max in his first meeting. It was only a matter of time, but he quickly got to no 1 and stayed there till the end of the season. Cracking rider with excellent support, but the Thompson twins are just a smidge behind him. In the 500cc finals last year and 2019 the regular 4 riders were Palin, Thompson twins and Freeman.1 point

I’d be interested to know how many new riders are going to be required for the 5 year plan to last that long. Looking at the youth rounds entry list we will run out of riders before 5 years is up as no one new has taken up the sport last year or this!1 point
-
NO. There are greater problems with the bigger clubs snapping up the top riders in each points band. If say there is a band 5 - 6.5 you know the poorer teams will get the 5+ riders, whilst the richer clubs will get the 6+ riders.1 point

I'm clinging to the hope the vaccine will be well rolled out by then and we can nearly get back to normal by May.Afterall they are giving the vaccine to the speedway fans first, the over 80's now the over 70's soon be the over 60's and that's just about the fan base covered. Any old/new fan is good news to have at the speedway,so hope you do make it back1 point

I would imagine there will be spots for riders like Bridger and youngsters alongside him, if anything this whole situation is going to see riders like Hartel and other modestly talented European riders not riding over here which isn’t a bad thing IMO. I don’t think we should be discouraging or turning away any British riders who are good enough and want to ride in our leagues.1 point

But they are, Premier League allowed 3 subs from 9 on the bench, EL five subs from the bench, however this doesnt alter the fact that the BSPL like to put its spoke in the National League wheel, a wheel which it has little idea about how its run and tries to ride rougshod over whenever it doesnt like whats happening, such as not allowing so called ghost teams, a Ghost team will always attract a few more supporters than the Junior team of a senior team, those supporters simply will simply stay away. As an example Wolverhampton rode in the Conference League watched by one man and his dog, they changed the name to Dudley Heathens and we all know what happened then.. If a promotion wants to ride its junior team under a historic name whats the harm it it ?, BSPL answers on a post card please.1 point
