  2. Fixtures are probably being held up due to the ongoing discussions as to whether Plymouth are in or out! I'm sure as soon as that is sorted they will shake it all about.

  3. No, but I've stood behind at Newcastle.

  4. The blunt instrument that is called the "points limit" doesn't necessarily reduce costs ..... the lower average riders who " fit the points limit" just ask for more money.

  5. The conversion rate went up last season I believe. Started at 1.5 but moved to 1.6 later in the year as planned. That's why Edinburgh brought masters in for the last few meetings as they couldn't really progress and he'd get a true championship average over a converted one

  6. Are Ellis and Jensen not hog-tied due to Polish rules and therefore unavailable? What about Nick Agertoft or Nicklas Porsing or if he is over here with Peterborough how about Hans Andersen as No1? Brits would be Anders Rowe Alfie Bowtell and Nathan Stonman and if he can be tempted back over what about our very own Swedish Geordie Ludvig Lindgren? Just some ideas Regards THJ

  7. Agree with this. We have to build again from a realistic base. We can't ignore three important facts. The centre of the speedway world is in Poland. Geographically we are an island off the mainland of Europe. Politically no longer being in the EU makes travelling to and working in the UK a whole lot more difficult. We should build our leagues predominantly around UK riders and those from Australia and New Zealand who might feel the UK is a better place to be based in when Europe. RE. growth; incremental growth is always more sustainable and easier to adjust to. Much more desirable than boom and bust.

  9. Don't think the points limit is in a riders consideration, it's all about the money money money

  10. I think Ellis situation may be dictated by which overseas leagues he rides in. If he goes down the POL/SWE/DK route then as a POL 2nd Div rider he can't do UK. The POL rules are clear on that. Believe he has signed in all 3 of those leagues so to do UK he would need to drop one. Also if he were to get another Prem club now Swindon not riding in 2021 then he wont do Champ anyway as no way I see him dropping POL/SWE. Just my opinion. Maybe Ellis news being kept quiet while the Ford's try to resolve alternative arrangements ?? Hope not but would not surprise me. I chose Ben Cook as if his Bro not doing UK now Somerset not riding would he come over alone ??. Also Danny already advised that change/s are needed due to new rules so Ben was an easy target guest for me to choose as who makes way to meet the RS requirement. Let's hope the Fords clarify for us soon. Incredible to see how forward thinking teams like Eastbourne now look so attractive with their UK 1-7 and so many rising stars in the team. Let's hope Poole can give the fans something to look forward to.

  12. Also on the first bend, probably after shoving past Lefty when leaving the Top House! About half a dozen of us hired a crap cheap mini bus for the weekend, the plan was to camp anywhere we saw suitable. Left Friday evening, stopped at a pub on the A1 near Peterborough for a beer, set off again then back to pub to retrieve my coat complete with tickets that I'd forgotten, then camped at some service station. Top House, final then on to Halifax for the evening meeting then pub. Then looked for somewhere to camp, it was pissing with rain by then and very dark, finally found some quiet flat area to pitch the tents, just got set up when flashing blue lights descended upon us. We were apparently camping on a cricket pitch and were politely asked to bugger off. Moved on and we all slept in the van. Onto Belle Vue for the test match then broke down on the way home. Happy Days!

  14. You don't get a reduction for not riding in the UK. You get one for not riding at all. However if the average is more than 3 years old you can apply to have it re-assessed.

  15. I would be surprised if Plymouth sign anyone from the defunct Somerset team. Ben barker would have been most obvious but he's already committed to Newcastle.

  16. Somerset signed Jason Doyle, a world champion , and their wage bill increased massively but the crowd level went up exactly zero percent. Good financial sense ?

  18. There's been a power shift, the good rising stars can now name their price so will probably cost more now than they would have before the system was put in place.

  21. For me. Crowds would grow in the short term as 'ex fans' came back, and those less regular fans attended more frequently.. Novelty value and all that.. But then crowds would drop back as that novelty wore off, leaving clubs with the most expensive riders and crowds that won't sustain them.. Pretty much where the sport was 15 to 20 or so years ago, all the top riders rode here but crowds dwindled each year whilst they did... And TV coverage was also great, the best rode here, yet sponsors didn't throw money at it... Three top heat leaders per team became two, and then two became one, and finally all was left was Jason Doyle..... And now even he has gone.... Bottom line is the wider sporting watching public don't know who are 'top stars', and who are not, so their appearance wouldn't generate enough 'new fans' for me to justify the outlay... This year's predicted teams in the top division resemble something like a 'Championship Plus' standard with the 2nd tier resembling a 'Championship Lite'... Reflective of where the sport really is crowd wise for me, and probably at the lowest overall standard it has ran with, but sometimes you do have to go backwards to go forwards... Hopefully this is part of a well thought out plan of incremental growth, or who knows, maybe this standard will prove a success and provide a few years of stability for the sport?

  22. Exactly this! The amount of people that just think businesses (speedway teams) should just give up now cause there's signs it might not happen is mad. You have to push on with positive options!

  23. And it's not just this is it? Next time you want to go abroad for any reason, the charges made by credit card companies for European transactions will have increased FIVEfold. So when you book with a European airline (including Ryanair, Wizzair etc) or when you book a hotel online, or book a train fare, or even buy the SGP ticket online, YOU will be hit with these increased charges. But hey, at least we've got our country back, eh? Next time you talk to a Brexit voter, don't forget to thank them very much. Their vote is what's led to this.

  24. I don’t know why they didn’t just keep the points limit but just say you need to have a British under 21 at number 7. Crumpy is most probably on the move and batch could become stuck as he has a high average as well, if the bsp get to write the rules every year why not give the clubs the biggest points limit you can to entice better riders to consider racing in the uk

  30. for the future of our sport we need more young people coming through the turnstiles, I'm all for 1 adult = 1 young person free, 2 adults 2 young persons free, etc etc, all other young persons pay £5 each, set the age as 15 and under and must have proof of age

  31. So did Crump, but people can come out of it if they want! During the first lockdown when Poole showed title winning highlights and talked to the main riders from that season along with sometimes management, Matt was trying to get Bjarne to agree to ride in the Championship! Maybe he has worn him down! IDK.

  35. Why don't you just shut up about it now, and leave this section for Sheffield related items. If by some other worldly chance in the next few years your idea is anywhere near correct, start a new topic "I told you so " or similar. If there's no BSF by then if the state has taken all liberty away as you're convinced we'll remember you were right all along.

  36. I have lost my brother, but it doesn't change my view one iota that the criminals who have imposed this curse upon us need to face the courts. But it won't happen until their evil is exposed and, sadly, the mask-wearing, jab-receiving supporters of lockdown are the one who will prevent that from happening.

  37. Everyone has a role to play in the future of the sport I think for domestic Speedway if its £15/20 with kids free then that is an OK price

  39. It's kinda ironic that British promoters upset with Polish rules, lower the points limit so a rider who wants to race over here is likely to be left without a team place!

  40. Hang on, we have Josh, Archie, Danny, and Dean then throw in Alcock and we had Wallinger lined up so that is six to start with , throw in someone like Danny Phillips ( local and without a team ) and you have a team, and that’s without going looking far.

  45. Is he really a future star though? Been knocking around for years without progressing an awful lot. The rides being suggested are Kemp, Flint, Palin, the Thompson twins, Brennan and Rowe. These are teenagers who could progress nicely with the right development path. Some of them have Polish contracts already.

  47. Where yo lookin? He has this time as well... if it's wrong let me know it's easily corrected.. Taken off the old teams list and James won't be the rising star and that Edinburgh team will change... not unlike the Newcastle team where a young British rider had to be cut to accommodate a errrrrrm young British rider classed as a rising star.... nuts...

  48. Thanks on that... Can we use Paul Hurry as the British reserve?
