  2. After last weeks investigative bit by the local reporter you would think the Hancock’s would either confirm or deny the report or reassure the fans on the future

  6. I don't really see why it's a big issue. If an organisation wishes to break away, surely they can, so long as the health and safety is in place and insurances. Maybe the BSPA have a legal right to the name 'speedway'? If that's the case, you call it something else. And if riders wish to ride in both camps, what can be the problem? A number of riders ride speedway, long track and grass track.

  7. Best of luck in all your endeavours this season Barry. I am sure a good many on here appreciate your updates and honesty, not to mention the way you and the team down there actually go about promoting your sport and business.. Many could do a lot worse than learning from what you all do down there..

  8. Here's something that some of you (particularly iris123) may find interesting... Board-track racing (huge steeply-banked ovals - and sometimes circles - constructed from wood) was huge in the US from 1910 until the 1920's, and is considered one of the forerunners of speedway on this side of the pond. The Playa del Rey track in California opened in 1910, and was followed by dozens of others around the country. In fact, we had a couple here in the Cincinnati area, with one in Sharonville (a couple of miles from where I work), and the Lagoon Raceway in over the river in Ludlow, Kentucky. The tracks soon became known as "Murderdromes" due to the amount of fatalities, which included several of the leading riders. Worse than that, a number of spectators were to lose their lives, with a major tragedy occurring at the Lagoon Raceway in July, 1913, when Odin Johnson was killed, along with seven spectators. One of the biggest names in the sport was Eddie Brinck. Sadly, Brinck was to lose his life in August 1927, during a race in Springfield, Massachusetts. Last week, I finally got around to visiting the AMA Hall of Fame inductee's grave up in Dayton.

  11. Bad management from Wroclaw there- should have been a 1-5 and use Magic and Laguta in 14 and 15.

  14. Never easy to be sure with auto translation but sportowefakty report seemed to suggest that as there was no exclusion as a cause of the incident, no replacement is allowed. Seems an odd one if that's the rule.

  17. And that’s why to bet on Hampel at that score. Once he misses the start he can’t pass wind, so nearly home and dry on that one already now.

  18. I wonder if that's going to make a difference though? Looking at how the next crop of Aussies like Jaimon Lidsey and now Frazer Bowes are choosing to base themselves in Poland or Germany so that they can more easily hop between EU countries and their teams in Germany, Poland, Denmark and Sweden, being based in the UK could actually be a hindrance to them, no matter how easy it is to get to the UK. Having an easy entrance into a dead end street doesn't get you anywhere.

  19. We're not living in the 1960s anymore. The MSA (now Motorsports UK) gave up the fight on this years ago on the grounds of restraint of trade. Both drivers and officials can participate in events not under their control without consequence to their own licensing.

  22. Maybe so but the bspl will outlaw and ban any rider who rides on a track not under their control. It happened back in the early 60’s when Mike Parker set up the Provincial league without authorisation from the then National league promoters. Riders were blacklisted and a closed shop then but as it turned out it was the saving of speedway when both leagues combined in 1965.

  30. Like I say, come have a go! Anyone willing to volunteer 6 hours on a Saturday to go out publicly and try keep people entertained gets praise in my book. They always be doyles like you wanting to slate them but never step up and volunteer your own expertise. Personally think that talking for 3.5 hours to a microphone connected to the entire internet with no previous experience is some good going! Talking over extended breaks when absolutely nothing is happening for half an hour. Drop me a message and we'll get you lined up for the next one and see if you get as much praise as they have

  32. It’s the “Warriors Shale Track Racing Club” The Wightlink Warriors today announce the launch of the “Warriors Shale Track Racing Club” which will encompass all racing events staged at the Smallbrook Stadium. The club, which will be open for membership, will offer riders of all ages and ability the opportunity to participate in many different race classes on the country's largest shale circuit. Warriors Shale Track Racing Club Co-owner Barry Bishop said, “Martin and I are delighted to be able to extend the reach of shale track racing to a far greater rider and fan base than ever before with the support of NORA Motorsport. 33. Interesting. Not a theory I've heard before. I'd question whether it has much credibility. If King wanted to stay out of Erik's way, then he wouldn't have passed him on the first bend. I can't buy into the idea that it was fixed. It's a some fix if the script was for Moran to outgate Gundersen, King to pass him on the turn, team ride him out with Moran on the inside and King on the outside, then let him get past them both. I think that's a stretch. For me, there was a minor error on King's part and Gundersen took advantage with a brilliant bit of opportunism. I think it's one of THE great world final rides. Only Gundersen, Nielsen, Ermolenko and Niemi seemed to have the track properly weighed up that afternoon.
