Very pleased to see Plymouth have a team that can challenge for the play offs. There are only two teams in the south of England Plymouth and Poole. Why some people seem to dislike Plymouth I do not understand. My name on this forum has always been Sherbornegreen. That is based on where I live and the football team I have always supported. (Plymouth Argyle). My first knowledge of speedway was at Pennycross in 1962. All my family started to go to Weymouth in the early 1980s and season ticket holder at Poole from 1983 till 2001. Still a Poole supporter going when I can but also very fond of Plymouth and go when I can. Poole will always have a very strong team and Plymouth have a team that is improving year on year. Support in Plymouth is increasing, thank goodness. We do not want to lose this great sport in the south so good luck to both teams. Don’t forget we’re have already lost Trelawney, Exeter, Weymouth and Somerset from this area. Also nearby Newport and Swindon. Let’s keep what we have got at least.9 points

In all seriousness Buczkowski to Panthers instead of Ostergaard and a 5 pointer at reserve makes real sense.5 points

To be fair the dislike as you say is only coming from a certain few , personally I like the look of Plymouth will win most home meetings which is your bread and butter. Tidy side they have assembled.4 points

Skidder keeps liking posts regarding Douglas/Poole and he's got a few ITK's so I would put my money on Poole going with King, Lawson & Douglas as the three HL's.3 points

https://youtu.be/wB-RHM2ZJmw Congreve looks a great prospect. The opposition wasn't up to much in this meeting with Terry-Daley being a recognisable name. He was on the pace with BWD though, in one race Congreve passed a couple then kept up with BWD. That said, the track in NZ was totally different to wot he will face at Brough Park. Hope George adapts well & helps Newcastle build on their future.3 points

No white lines today unfortunately... job was abandoned... rain and snow stopped play... however I popped down today before going to another call out in Durham and in the hour and a bit I was there the lads had put down 180 ton of shale... in fact the shale was going on the track that fast Steve Lawson was struggling to keep up grading it in... however knowing Steve as I do and him being a bit of a perfectionist that surface will be spot on come next March... all 1200 ton or so of it... I agree, but what is more I would say he was the ultimate tactician, with an amazing ability to out think an opponent. My outstanding memories of him, on the rare occasions the missed the gate , was that he would sit just outside someone’s tail until the last two bends then as the opponent drifted wide to cover his run in, Hurri- Ken would suddenly switch lines and come through on the inside. I thought he was brilliant, but I was young and impressionable and didn’t see much of the other top stars on a regular basis. From What little I’ve seen of Ronnie Moore, and considering he was past his best by the time I saw him I think would have to have him in my top five or six. Its also been mentioned that the so called top 5 had to contend with each other but while we are speculating I think If Tony Rickardson had never been born we would be talking of Jason Crump in the top five. He really was ,to my mind , one of the true greats, more so than Greg Hancock.2 points

As a Hammers supporter I have to agree with Ken McKinlay being the ultimate team rider. His partnership with Simmons produced many valuable 5-1’s for the team.2 points

Im sure Mr Godfrey and Mr Chapman are very hard working chaps and have their best interests at heart but the road Speedway is going it is not sustainable in its present form.2 points

But at least they will have won using their own riders... Not by choosing when to have tactical illnesses and injuries so they can bring track specialist ringers in depending on where they are riding... The only thing Mickey Mouse about the Polish leagues are ZG's kevlars....2 points

I think it should also be borne in mind that Craven was around at the same time as Fundin and Briggs - and Ronnie Moore come to that, but still managed to win the World Title twice. Hancock, on the other hand, didn't seem to fare so well when up against Rickardsson, Crump and Pedersen, who dominated the early 2000s. I would venture to say that all three of them were better than Hancock.2 points

Brilliant effort from Glasgow with the announcement, additional exposure and donations for the charities is great. Good signing also.2 points

Palin leaving Peterborough for Belle Vue would sum up what's wrong with speedway. You would never see athletes in other sports leaving the champions to go and ride for 2nd best.2 points

Agree with the last bit in brackets. Spending lots of money on all new stuff every year is completely unnecessary. A new van every year is also unnecessary. There are so many costs to clubs and riders that can be cut. A 10mm bolt will last for years but many will have all new every year because they're shinier - totally unnecessary. Four helmets a meeting in each colour, totally unnecessary - did anyone see how many Emil S had accumulated?2 points

You categorically stated what the Ipswich team was, and then labelled Louis as pathetic for not satisfying you by naming said team and instead “drip feeding” it. He’s literally done a deal for a rider in the last 48 hours so that proves you were talking absolute b0llocks. The team clearly wasn’t sorted when you claimed it was.1 point

What do you think? Personally I'm not sure whether Riss will be at Ipswich as track specialist Cameron Heeps is 5.10. 1. Jason Doyle 8.96 2. Erik Riss 5.08 / Cameron Heeps 5.10 3. Craig Cook 6.80 4. Troy Batchelor 5.57 5. Danny King 7.76 6. Paul Starke 4.46 7. Anders Rowe (RS) 0.37 / 0.351 point

Yeah. I still stick by that but my info is old and Skidder has said the 1-7 has changed on multiple occasions since then so I wouldn't be shocked if Steve was moved on or whether he's in the 1-7.1 point

Looks like things have changed in the last 2 days. Guy Nicholls throwing his money about. (No problem with that) So it's back to the drawing board for belle vue and rider missing out at Ipswich1 point

If I was to guess, and again not sure on averages, but Sam out for basso and heeps/ Hume at reserve. Depends what comes out from the great Eastbourne averages debate1 point

We thinking this then.. Doyle 8.96 Heeps 5.10 Riss 5.26 Buzzawotsit 6.02 King 7.96 Starke 4.58 Rowe If that IS the team, it’s 1.12 under the limit. Only uncertainties there are Buzz and Starke, the others are nailed on. So maybe the Buzz rumours are false and he’s gone elsewhere and we’ve gone for Cook, or perhaps he’s in, and we’ve gone for another rider instead of Starke on an average up to 5.70. (crump 5.36 R Worrall 5.51) If we’ve gone that route, that would drop Heeps in to reserve which would be handy..1 point

https://youtu.be/vLY2F8uze0A the better than lego quote is from an Aussie sportsman being interviewed back in the 90’s - became a bit of a cult phrase Aussies have used when interviewed after winning sporting events - along with drinking champagne from their shoes. Believe doyle made the quote when he won the world title haha1 point

Like it or not. To fight legal cases regarding property development you will need lots & lots of money from somewhere and claiming discrimination is not the way to go unless you want to waste lots & lots of money1 point

Not quite. Scaled it based on Leicester cycle speedway. DH won world championships on 3 different tracks. Worth noting the Lions circuit has been significantly altered since then hence the much improved racing now seen at Beaumont Park1 point

I'd agree. Certainly a better business brain than messers Chapman and Godfrey. Came into Belle Vue at a very precarious time and has stabilised it, and made the club look more professional. He claimed to know nothing about the sport when he first came in, but he's respected the history and traditions of Belle Vue. Even staged meetings behind closed doors in 2020 to keep the unbroken record going. He hasn't changed the club colours and rebranded it The Manchester Machine. Sponsorship has grown steadily and they seem to run to a sustainable budget, despite running 2 teams. There hasn't been any question of running or not running the following year. I also like that he walks round the stadium during meetings talking with and listening to fans.1 point

If only we sign Buczkowski instead of Ostergaard we could get Crump at reserve. Has an identical look about the 1-7 from the title winning side this year imo. 1. Michael Palm Toft 2. Krzysztof Buczkowski 3. Chris Harris 4. Scott Nicholls 5. Hans Andersen 6. Jason Crump 7. Jordan Palin1 point

Exactly! Trouble is Mike just wants everyone to say Plymouth are amazing! Can prob put Lewy in the same bracket tbh. They'd never cope being a Poole fan with all the hate that gets directed on a weekly basis lol. Plymouth have a better team than last year but fail to see how anyone is going to win the league without a strong number 1. I'd say Harris, Douglas, Scott, Morris etc are all stronger imo. But if all riders do well could get the 4-6th place.1 point

It's played between full teams/squads though. Not as an 8 v 8 Arena Football match, nor is the NBL played as a 3-on-3 basketball tournament.1 point
