  1. 100% this... Birmingham's problem is, like so many other tracks, that they get so very, very few people interested in watching Speedway from a huge conurbation on their doorstep.. If that issue ever got fixed then no council, no dog racing company, or even security guards being over officious, would have hardly any impact on it whatsoever.. Speedways problems are simply down to not enough people attending which, in the vast majority of reasons, is due to self inflicted issues rather than any external influences..

  4. Jordan is a brilliant lad and been full time with Scunthorpe and Peterborough again will help him , he can with a level head go far in this sport Good Look for 2022 Jordan

  5. The commonwealth games will cost council tax payers money and has caused them and will continue to cause them more disruption than all the years of speedway put together. I don't believe they give a toss about a few hundred people on a Wednesday night for a few months.

  6. I'm amazed some think this teams is nothing. This is by far & away the strongest 7 compared to any other (predicted) team. Wait until you see King's Lynn's tomorrow evening

  7. I don't understand why some clubs are announcing from the bottom up! I would have thought it'd be better to do the opposite?

  8. I'd kinda be sad to see Hume go, but as long as he has a team place somewhere, that is the main thing

  9. You will love him, he's a little gem, and very good with the fans

  10. He would loose you 4 meetings at Ipswich and Wolves for starter's as has no technical skills just a throttle jockey.

  11. Such loyalty to the whiter than white gaffer. You'll be driving him around the country next

  12. Yep I think he quietly went about his business at Brum last year and did quite well, plus had an excellent guest appearance at P'boro versus Ipswich where he scored eight including two heat wins https://speedwayupdates.proboards.com/thread/20451/ipswich-premiership-06-09-2021 Probably the weakest on paper but has some potential and a much better prospect than Ryan with all due respect to him.

  14. Brum's big problem since the 2007 relaunch is the 21 year gap between the Wheels and Perry Barr. This is why the majority of supporters are, to be kind, mature and in a lot of cases, very mature. Finding and holding on to a new generation of fans is a huge, huge task.

  15. No no no,,, you don't know me at all do you. Even when they are winning,,, which has happened in drips and drabs,,, I like to moan about that as well. Whatever happens I am never happy,,,, I'm a very very grumpy old man

  17. A team on paper is exactly that. Am I disappointed that we have built that far below the limit - yes. Do I believe a number of those in the team have the capacity to increase their average - yes. Will I know the answer until we are a few meetings into the season - no. You can have whatever opinion you like of Louis but one thing is for certain, he won’t put the future of Ipswich speedway at risk by spending money that would do that. He will have been working to a budget and once Doyle was signed then he had to build a team to fit the remainder of the budget in a way that he believes can be competitive. Who apart from the most ardent Panthers fans and probably not even many of them predicted they would be champions last season? I actually believe that the team should be strong as a home unit, away not so sure but as always, I will approach the season full of hope and grateful that I still have a speedway team to watch.

  18. Yep, looks that way though I think Worrall (5.51) will start at reserve rather than Kerr (5.73). Depends if that includes the final meeting at Sheffield where Kerr scored 4 from 6 rides. I think it’s a side that should be competitive at home but probably still too many passengers away and weakest rising star of the lot (again).
    3 points
  19. So expecting Pickering Worrall Jorgensen Lawson Kildemand Kerr Thomas Would mean we have the strongest reserve in the league but on paper at least the weakest 1 and 7 with a pretty solid middle order. Lots depends on how much PK can stick on his average in what is now a much weaker league. Looks a much better and more competitive team than last year but still probably the 6th strongest on paper, albeit much closer to others than 2021.

  20. Don't underestimate the effect that riding with Doyle could have on Bachelor. You might be getting "Good Batch" next year.

  21. Witches have Batch aa a heat leader Sheffield have Muesilak as a second string Let that sink in for a minute........

  22. That's a TEAM and with the addition of BASSO ON THE GASSO u'll be heading for the title again. You'll love watching Basso around the Showground as there is plenty of room for him to display his flair. He's real quality and I was at Redcar when he made his Pirates debut, that lad as got the biggest kahooners ever! He may need a word in the ear like from Scotty on how to get round Wolverhampton, oh crikey close yer eyes.......

  23. No not you just seen it 3 or 4 times. Made me chuckle. Guys obviously commited to Britain if signed prem, be very shocked if didn't ride in champ

  24. The amusing part is Poole fans saying he's available if we need to make changes during the season. Like he's just sitting about with no offers and will turns down money on the off chance Poole need him. Absolutely priceless

  28. Rambo deserves a place after last season in my opinion. Brilliant team man, something sadly lacking in a lot of riders.

  29. Yeah good reasoning that ...........but when your hungry for anything relating to speedway it's just hard to resist.

  30. as thj says , some shale will b available ( at a price ), but can only de delivered on fFidays tea times during the season , would not give him the skin off me rice pudding

  31. Jack Thomas is slowly turning into a brilliant little rider and I feel he may surprise a few people next season...

  32. I would think that with all the heavy machinery and ancillary work taking place, workmen would not want to be interrupted by sightseers. Leave it to postings on here,, and visit after Xmas and then there will be changes to be seen I would imagine.

  33. Funny you should say that as im sure i saw on another thread how Kentish Batchelor is.........

  34. To be fair he’s had a fair few seasons in the 7 plus average, none in the 5’s for many years. Is it the start of a permanent decline? Possibly, only time will tell. But 5 and a half looks ridiculously cheap to me..

  35. so, no agreement on the rent for next year,no racing next year !! unbelievable, a perfectly adequate sports facility pretty much lying idle, bcp council need to need to get off their arses and get involved, show some leadership and go public on what their policy is on the stadium
    2 points
  36. I don't think Poole will announce any signings until they have the stadium rent issue legally sorted. No point in weakening any legal negotiating position (by 'accepting' a huge imposed, non-negotiated rent increase) by confirming to the stadium and the Council that the club is definitely intending to race whatever the rent?!!

  37. An no doubt like so many tracks they will have a very solid numbered fan base who still take an interest in the team, and in the wider sport itself, yet wont attend too many meetings, if indeed, any at all... If tracks could just get those who "follow them" to attend each week/more regularly, that, given such low numbers in real terms who do attend, 100% crowd increases wouldnt be out of the question for some, and well into double digit growth for many... I went to Birmingham about six years ago to watch the Aces and felt like a 48 year old 'spring chicken' when I entered the upstairs bar and saw the average age of their support... A tough ask to run Speedway there I would suggest, especially given the wider way the sport is ran in the UK will always negatively impact crowds and prevent potential from ever being delivered.. Best wishes to those who try...

  38. It’s not a bad team BUT it could have been so much better

  39. Maybe didn't want the travel. Did it with Edinburgh for couple seasons so knows the journey. Reckon be Hume in other reserve slot then personally

  40. No way, although I like Pickering, howarth is Sheffield through and through and always gives you 110%

  41. In my opinion this will be the team to beat, if Nicholls rides like he did at the end of last season, he could put a point on his average so could Palin and Basso I am expecting 2 points, Ulrich may drop slightly but very exciting team.
    2 points
  42. Yes and although it was fairly well guessed by most I’m pleased it’s confirmed
    2 points
  43. From being very excited when Doyle was signed I’m now totally underwhelmed. And a bit angry. Any advantage we had with riders with potential to raise their average is negated with starting two points under the limit.

  44. Wow they really did manage to turn a silk purse into a sows ear

  45. Bewley didn't want to receive another spanking off the Panthers. He chose to quit the league.

  46. Don't see much improvement in those riders. Reserves are very weak too. Panthers would have a field day against that side.

  47. I've had two Asian wives. Both have given birth. Neither died and both had the exact same care as anyone else. In fact, my first wife probably had more because she insisted on having a single room with a shower because that's what she would have had in her own country and she got exactly that. I also feel that there will never be racial equality as long as the term BAME is being bandied about, because it separates people from white people by it's very definition. I actually find the term BAME to be an (albeit unintentional) insult to anyone it refers to. Do you think that if a novice black kid turned up at, say, Belle Vue and went round the track like the new Michael Lee that nobody would want to sign him because of his skin colour? Personally, I reckon every team would want to snap him up straight away based on his ability .
    2 points
  48. But what about Dick and Harry? Is there still room for them?
    2 points
  49. My point exactly, doesn't matter of they're top by a mile or in the bottom half, can still make the play-offs! So I think they'll make it!
    1 point
  50. We've got nothing to worry about. Ipswich are awful with half a team arriving on the back of an awful season. They've blew the entire budget on Doyle as it's looking like Batchelor and Riss now. Wolves are going with two rising stars basically with S. Worrall in the 1-5. KL have journey men and Kildemand who's on a steep decline. We're on par with Sheffield MPT, Nicholls, Harris and Hans is just as strong as J. Holder, Musielak, Ellis & Howarth Ostergaard and Cook are the risks. Nothing to split the reserves as Basso is on a false average due to him not completing enough meetings for Poole.
