  1. Fair play to Glasgow staying loyal to a rider coming back from a major injury it's not always about the £££ is it.

  2. The problem is that speedway fans EXPECT everyone to love it the same way we do - yet they constantly come on here posting how crappy it is! Speedway is my favourite sport. It always has been, and while it is very different to the sport I grew up with, it still is my favourite sport. I am not like most speedway fans though; I don't come on here bitching about others who like F1, football, tennis etc. I like F1, and I like football, but like speedway, they are very different sports to the ones I watched as a kid. That doesn't make them boring, and it certainly doesn't make me an idiot for liking them. Look at most of the speedway meetings we watch, and we think to ourselves (and often post it on the BSF), "What a load of crap"! I showed a friend of mine Chris' Harris' winning ride at Cardiff - and he just turned round to me, and said, "Is that supposed to be exciting"? Does that make him stupid or inferior? Of course not. Like when he goes mental over American football, yet it does absolutely nothing for me. Not everybody likes the same things - or appreciates the same things. Look at music. I get sick of people telling me that, "All classical music sounds the same". Really, you think a baroque organ piece sounds like a 20th century flute concerto? I am a huge Tom Waits fan, as I love the emotions he puts me through. Most people though, just don't get him, and are like, "He's crap..." I don't expect EVERYBODY to like speedway, but it surprises me that there aren't more. As has been said on here many times, speedway just isn't "cool' for most people. You could have speedway on terrestrial TV every night of the week, at prime time, and most would turn it straight off. Sad thing is, it could be the best speedway we've ever seen, but if they don't "get it", it does absolutely bugger all. I know that British promoters rarely "promote", but quite honestly, what good would it do? If they could even afford it... As I've said before, everyone thinks they KNOW the answer, but the reality is that they DON'T. There are many reasons why speedway doesn't have the following it used to, but many of the reasons have nothing to do with the sport itself. We can't control everything, and we certainly can't control the way people think...

  3. Not all of us fall into that category, believe me. I've criticised Matt Ford and his dodgy dealings many times over the years. I'm also no fan of Shovlar.

  4. Despite not matching the heat leader power Poole will no doubt shell out for I think this will be the team to beat, the bottom four is far better than anyone else will come up with and there is loads of scope for improvement across the majority of the team. Could be that first league title that the Glasgow promotion deserve for their hard work.

  5. Really pleased to see Ulrich back. I don’t really care how he performs at this point. He was so good this year he deserves the chance to find out. He was such a joy to watch. Couldn’t be having him just walk off somewhere else.

  6. A risk after his serious injury but not unhappy with that wears his heart on his sleeve , welcome back Ulrich.

  7. Mark Crang... there's a bloke who was thrown in out of his depth. All due to the averages. I think the Aces paid around £5k for him... Mainly because he had a really low average. Only in speedway....

  8. My take on a 'fans favourite' isn't necessarily down to a riders performance week in week out? I think (and only think...) that Shanes and Morris, both make a lot of time to chat and interact with fans before, during and after meetings....just my observation. Both very approachable/affable riders/personalities. Basically, nice guys....I'm sure Paco is regarded in the same mould and will no doubt be one of the next signings. (as quoted by Col...)

  10. I believe both Newman & Heeps especially can up their aves, alongside 2 x nine point men, that's a strong looking team so far!

  14. Lawson on decent machinery would be decent at reserve. We have said that for years right enough talented but his machinery let’s him down.

  15. Not part of a college project.. Robs pumped thousands of £££ into this, myself and MKJ working to bring you guys the best streams in speedway in 2022

  16. Looks a good side on paper. Should be top 3 looking at teams already announced and rumours of those that haven't. Berwick look good dependant on final signing, Poole no doubt be up there, Oxford too. Plymouth, Leicester, Edinburgh be in around play off picture. Can't wait to April!!

  18. Well if Glasgow sign any more Poole riders from last season, I have my reaction ready.... That team is soooo 2021! It's a joke before anyone moans about it being too arrogant! lol

  23. Hard to argue against that really. I personally wouldn’t swap Rowe for Brennan as a rising star and I’m pretty confident Rowe will have a more productive season down there of the two. But I also tipped the Witches for the wooden spoon a couple of seasons ago and we finished runners up, and I also tipped Peterborough for the spoon this year and they won the damn thing so my predictions are horrendous.

  24. Maybe the Ford’s are still finalising their rent for 2022 ....before making offers to riders for 2022?

  25. What happens when another team is just 0.16 above scunnys 0.16 and so forth. There has to be a cut off point somewhere!

  26. They do. That's how we got Jesper after Glasgow went **** up in about 1996.

  27. Believe if the Eastbourne matches are removed then Cooks rises though. Would be good for the BSPA to release the official averages for next season.

  30. That is a top three to match all championship clubs. It’s going to be hard for any club, and all the Pirates strings job will be is to pick up third places. So a good chance a heat will either be a 4-2 or a 3-3. To get a 5-1 against us is going to be tough. The only heats we don’t have one of our top three will be 2, 8 and 14. However we do need scoring reserves. If it’s Drew Kemp, it gives us a solid reserve who can cover one ride from the other reserve, as well as coming in if either of a second strings are struggling. Add in heat 13 and 15 where we will be strong, and Pirates are going to be tough to beat. Certainly the chance of getting beaten by a margin is slim and over two legs should be formidable.

  33. Steve doesn't go Glasgow that well, not on attractive average either. I'd be very shocked if Steve ended up in Glasgow at any point in his career tbh

  37. I imagine that Kyle and Cameron will be the 3 and 4? NBJ isn't doing uk this year supposedly... Or else I'd be begging for him at Newcastle

  38. So guys who had the strongest team so far? Certainly the teams last year the struggled have improved especially Plymouth . Newcastle have done some decent business. Leicester will be strong again

  39. Like a lot of riders, whenever he seemed to make progress had some bad injuries which put him back again. Was pleased to have him at Eastbourne, hope he has an injury free, productive season.

  41. I like your post....my late father's favourite line was 'I'm Birmingham T I D ! I think the first home match was a 39 all draw with Long Eaton (early May?) It was my first ever match (I was 4 years old)...I still have the programme and subsequently every home meeting programme from that season in 71....and so on. Right up until the great PB closed.

  43. Excellent post I would watch speedway in the "pouring rain in the middle of a field " every night of the week but there are the majority who would not give it the time of day sat in a corporate box munching filet steak and best bubbly.

  44. If that is remaining 3 riders then between them really just need to maintain their averages with potential in rest of the team. A fully motivated and focused Craig Cook can put a point on his average

  45. You're asking far too much for something so simple to be made transparent and public by the BSPL...

  46. Amazing how fans of other clubs are so desperate to see the Pirates 2022 announced. one thing it will be. Title chasing as usual. Expect us to be a the pointy end come the playoffs.

  47. Dillon ruml seemed pretty fearless around Leicester once dialled in and learnt the right lines he could be worth a punt on a 4pt average.

  48. A billion pound Global sport run for years by the likes of Ecclestone and funded by Global sponsors and massive Global brands. At least give Speedway a fair competitor to match it's prowess against??... Something like Rugby League may be a fair comparison.

  49. 0.16 doesn't stop Scunny signing Jorgensen, just stops him signing with the other 6. Replace Kinsley with a 2.00 man or Kennedy with MacDonald & Jorgensen fits - simple! There will always be potential teams just over the points limit, but if you allow a team to be 0.16 over, another will want to declare 0.25 over & so on!
