Tero shot himself in the foot a bit... he applied for a Tier 2 Sports Persons Visa and it was taking ages to come through so he thought he would apply for a UK Tier 5 Temporary Worker Visa in the mean time... however what Tero didn't realise is/was you have to let the process run its course and you cannot apply for a different Visa whilst one is still being processed... So he got a phone call of the Visa and Immigration people asking him what he was doing (was it dodgy and was he trying to enter the country illegally and other such questions) so then the whole thing got put on stop until he gave some acceptable answers. So when you say he broke the rules yes he did technically speaking... however was it malicious or wilful... No... he's just a bit thick... which also explains the minor issue he had/is having with the track and trace people when rather than being in the house where he said he would be in isolation he was on the M6 heading to Plymouth for a meeting with Scunny... Not the brightest bulb in the box but his heart is in the right place... Regards THJ

Belle Cue? not surprised a Belle End couldn't spell check Belle Vue (only one eye in the head and that cant see), but there you go... and there you go again making things up... but what's new like eh... Northside had a full team and a No 8 rider all set and ready for 2022 until Travellers put paid to the Workington Comets aspirations for next season by trashing the new track and venue... I don't know what the status is with the IOW but I doubt their participation is due to lack of riders... You should stay under that rock and do more research before you start bumping your gums... What an annoying wee nonce... okay you have got a bite (you've been trying for long enough)... and you have been told what the situation is... however on the issue to hand just about any company can be a sponsor... we (as a company) have just done it for one of our European Employees and as Crescent Girl points out it is time consuming but it isn't that expensive (we felt) and once you can show 12 months of trading you can apply for a Sponsors Licence. The important thing to note here is you should have 12 months of trading and produced a full set of accounts before you can apply to be a sponsor... it has nothing to do with the BSPL it is driven by the British Government and if you don't have 12 months worth of trading accounts you can not apply for the licence so being a new promotion with no trading accounts is a critical factor... 12 month into the job its a different story and you can apply for your own licence (or you can tie into another clubs licence which I wont go into here but it can be done) However costs for a licence are Type of licence Fee for small or charitable sponsors Fee for medium or large sponsors Worker £536 £1,476 Temporary Worker £536 £536 Worker and Temporary Worker £536 £ 1,476 Add a Worker licence to an existing Temporary Worker licence No fee £940 Add a Temporary Worker licence to an existing Worker licence No fee No fee I would suggest that Speedway comes under a small or charitable sponsor as you are usually a small sponsor if at least 2 of the following apply: your annual turnover is £10.2 million or less your total assets are worth £5.1 million or less you have 50 employees or fewer https://www.gov.uk/uk-visa-sponsorship-employers Furthermore the employee (in this case the rider) has to obtain a relevant visa and permit to enable them to enter the country and work which also has a cost attached (for someone)... its complicated until you get your head round it... so any Speedway fan who can get their head around the intricacies of the Speedway rules and regulations book will have no trouble with it as it is only half as complicated as they are... So don't keep trying to correct what you perceive as "some of the nonsense previously spread" as it is blatantly obvious you don't have a clue what you are talking about and worst of all because you don't know what you are on about you think it is okay to make up your own little version and stick it on here as being fact. Northside have already said due to vandalism the entry would be pushed back until 2023. Nice that the communication channels are open with IOW but i think they would happily sit back and watch how the upcoming season pans out before making any commitments.

Really liked Kyle from when he rode for Newcastle, 100% trier, shame he's probably not kicked on as much as I thought he would but in fairness he has had some pretty bad injuries.

Spot on.. Always enjoyed my trips to Poole.. People seen to forget that others can only wind you up if you allow yourself to be wound up in the first place... And I must admit, if you keep getting bites then often the most fun thing to do is to keep fishing.....

quite right lisa 95%of poole fans have never heard of shovler,skidder ,arthur,poole keith etc etc were just a group of people with plenty of time to spare to mess about on the old interweb ! ive met and spoke to many visiting fans (mainly cause im always there very early and visiting fans tend to arrive early)ive always enjoyed a chat and havent met a single away fan with a derogatory viewof the poole fans.

A rudderless ship without a suitable Captain, John, for far, far, too many years.. Crying out for someone to properly lead it... You only have to look at the threads for teams struggling to get a decent team together next year to see how ridiculous the whole operating model is.. The "collective" are desperate to keep as many clubs going as possible, (any Speedway must be seen as better than no Speedway), yet they dont ensure as a "collective" that every team has a fair chance of being successful. Yet they will use a supposed "team equality" mechanic which we all know to be far too subjective when it comes to previous riding numbers in the teams rode for, home track advantage of previous tracks, amount of meetings done, assessed averages depending on where you are from etc to be of any tangible accurate use.. Some teams next season in Division Two will, once again, have three heat leaders of a high level, (on a par with some in Div One given they will be the same riders), and other teams will end up with second strings having to take heat leader positions. The result? Well, we know that dont we? The teams using second strings as heat leaders will struggle at home and be dreadful away. However all will come to the tapes "relatively equal" and no doubt every team will talk up their side. "Strength in depth, always have a good reserve, all can put two points on their averages", etc etc etc.. What the "collective" (still after all these years of doing the same thing year in, year out), fail to grasp, is that unless EVERY track can be competitive then you will never move the sport organically forward... Getting visited by teams who are "cannon fodder" simply cannot be good for the host clubs business, yet they happily allow such things to happen... With the ultimate irony being that a few will throw hundreds of thousands of pounds into their teams to try and win something with only marginally more kudos than winning a meat raffle at the local British Legion. With the lack of kudos, financial rewards and publicity, all down to their very own operating model.. In short mate. No. The sport hasnt moved on.. (Over here).. In fact you would have to say that it has regressed a long, long way..

Not really worth a thread of it's own so I'll put it here.. This Saturday at 12pm on Talking Pictures in the 'Look At Life' series - "1961. A look at the sport of speedway racing, a sport which satisfies the modern thirst for speed. Also, with a look at how cross-country riding introduced a new hazard of manmade obstacles." Less than 10 minutes long so probably not much to see but might be interesting

Must agree. I usually find Steve's posts interesting and he invariably has something worth saying. His reports on matches and his summing up of riders performances are always worth reading as was the blog re. his trip to Glasgow for the Playoff Final.

At 19-years-old it's hardly a "make or break season for him". Look at John Louis, Craig Cook and a whole host of others who entered the sport late. At least wait until he's 23 or so before writing him off as a lower or middle order rider.

Liked him in his spell with Brummies and was shipped out too soon in my opinion. He seemed to settle very well at Eastie in 2019 and 2021 until financial problems came along and a very clever signing by Oxford. If he rides at 2 or 4 is very handy second string who can beat any Heat Leader on his day and great team man.

I think your being slightly unfair on Kemp, yes he might not have kicked on as much as people thought he would but he's only what 18/19? Give him another couple of seasons if he's still floating around on a 3+ average then I think you'll have more of an argument.

Shows the way he was going really, last time I saw him ride was heat 15 against Edinburgh and would have beaten Sam Masters for a 5/1 to win the meeting had it not been for an e/f on the last lap, if he gets back to that and above and gets dialled into the Oxford track should be a good signing. Come on Oxford fans, not a lot of opinion on here about him apart from some Poole and Eastie fans .

Is it really a draw? same thing happens every year. Northern teams will go against the northern teams, midlands against the midlands then south against the south till we get a couple of rounds in. wish they would actually do a traditional draw rather than coming up against the same teams in the early rounds year in year out.

Birmingham really need a big name signing at number one. Smolinski or maybe Kenneth bjerre type signing. Plymouth got bjarne pedersen when no one else thought it was possible. manzaries wants to return to the uk but wasn’t up to standard the last time he rode for Scunthorpe.

With more teams racing in 2022 may not be enough quality 3ish riders to go around! Better to keep a 3.2 rider than risk a newbie scoring 1 point a match in my view! Unless of course you have a Mulford / Ablitt turning 15!

Obviously a lot of teams to be announced etc BUT both Jacks have proven to be wasted talents thus far and finishing on 6ish averages in a weakened NDL last year shows that, McGurks had great years and will be the season to show if they can improve or plateau and "i" think the teams success will largely hang on how they do. Freeman is another with plenty of potential and its time to deliver, Ablitt will be tasting life at (or near) number 1 and thats a big step for him. I hope Hodder has taken a big leap forward from when i last saw him and i really wish that the actual 2021 final greensheets would be published so everyone could know whats going on and how teams are being built.

Tbf they didn't say 'all', they said 'a lot'. Which is amusing as doubt they even know 'a lot' of Poole fans. Even if you count all the Poole fans on here and on social media, it probably equates to 5% of all Poole fans, so their statement is pretty laughable imo.

Excellent post I would watch speedway in the "pouring rain in the middle of a field " every night of the week but there are the majority who would not give it the time of day sat in a corporate box munching filet steak and best bubbly.

Hi THJ I've been away for a couple of weeks and was dismayed and angered to read about the vandalism and burglary that has gone on in that time. Your above post though has helped lift the gloom a bit. Andrew and the team must have been demoralised yet again by the low lives who carry out these actions. It's fair to say that the travellers see this area as a soft touch, this is in no small part nurtured by the Police not making use of the powers they have under Section 61 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994. The Police do have powers to move a site immediately without recourse to the courts while Allerdale Council does not. Cumbria Constabulary is able to move more quickly and take far more robust action. The claim that Police have no authority to move travellers due to the absence of a dedicated place for them to go in Allerdale is also false. Apparently the fact remains there is no requirement to find the travellers somewhere to go before moving them on. If the Police made use of the powers available to them immediately in response to criminal damage and antisocial behaviour then this would surely act as a powerful deterrent and they would soon get the message. They have been allowed to get away with behaviour that other members of the local community wouldn't get away with for far to long. With the number of Police Officers in Cumbria reported to be at a record high it is good to here about them taking the above action. I hope it's the start of things to come going forward. I did think the travellers would find there way back onto Northside sooner or later especially since the intended CCTV security cameras were not installed at the same time as the security gates. Not sure what they'll be called yet. Possibly "Sittingbourne". I'm not sure, but I think when Len Silver opened his Central Park operation he used the name "Kent" because the Iwade operation already had rights to the name "Sittingbourne". Whatever they're called, it's just good to at least see some speedway continuing in the area.

Well Ray that's what's wrong with modern speedway - the smell has gone! There's a thread about reinventing speedway and the solution is staring us in the face - or wafting up our noses. Or rather not wafting. Bring back castor oil, take it from mothers' spoons. A good dose of castor oil made many of us what we are today and would reinvigorate the younger generation and speedway.

The smell is from the castor oil, not much smell from methanol. However, many are using synthetic oil, so the smell is disappearing. Funnily enough, burger vans, smell a bit like burning castor oil!
