Poole fans you are being trolled, ffs just ignore and it will stop as long as you keep replying and quoting it will carry on. Poole 2022 thread has become a farce8 points

I wish some people on here would grow up. Discussion and disagreement are fine. However I think some of the childish comments on here being in the school playground and not on a site where most people want intelligent discussion. I understand some people do not like Poole and that’s fine. This is the same in any sport.6 points

I would suggest that this forum is very balanced and full of fans who have lived through the malaise of the sport in this country, with many offering up some, hopefully, constructive ideas, whilst recognising that years of poor leadership cannot be sorted quickly.. With many putting out Ideas to try and improve the obviously glaring issues that led many on here to stop attending, but who still follow the sport closely, (with that gap left by them in the stadiums not getting filled by anyone else to replace their admission money).. However, if the ideas are "Barry White" then really who gives a toss...? It's a forum. For debate... Frequented by a few people who follow a sport frequented by circa 0.03% of the population each week.. I am sure Promoters do "all they can" but sadly many of them have a skill set not aligned to the "entertainment industry" and that is definitely an industry that requires certain specialist skills to firstly attract, then maintain a customer base.. It is over 30 years since I did my marketing degree, but many premises still remain... Sell yourself uniquely to create lots of interest. Try to exceed expectations, but if you cannot do this, at least meet them. Build constant communication with your customers to build long term loyalty. And, listen to them when they give you feedback, both good and bad, (but especially the bad), as you can then improve your offer to them... Bottom line though, is if people aren't coming then even letting them in for nothing can be a huge plus for you if you plan well, and deliver a great night when they come.. The sport suffers massively from so much working in splendid isolation rather than collectively working together. A national marketing initiative would carry far more clout and cut through than each doing their own thing.. Sadly, Speedway seems to be a huge "secret" in the UK, and unless those in charge of it start to work collectively to drive the sport generically, rather than individually, it will probably remain that way.. A truly staggering amount of money (in a sport watched by so few), will get paid in 2022 to riders, riders who with the greatest of respect will put hardly one extra bum on a seat, yet nothing like this amount of money would be spent on advertising and 2022 marketing techniques... Balance that equation and it may help the long term future... However, as I say it's only a forum...5 points

Who cares? The biggest issue of all for the sport (in the UK), is that "winning a league" has zero kudos, no large financial rewards, nor any meaningful media coverage... All down to its lack of credibility... With that as your starting point, it has no chance.. Indeed, any professional sport that ran with such a laughable system would get treated exactly the same... If you havent got enough riders to run seven man teams, then dont.. Instead, change the team structure to suit the supply... Eg Take two riders out from each team so you have a surplus to replace injuries and fixture clashes.. Eg Run with. Two heat leaders, two second strings, one reserve.. Riders obviously need "two jobs" it would appear, so those who ride abroad for one club can ride also for one club over here, riders who already ride for two clubs abroad dont get contracted to ride over here.. All these riders are then on stand by to temporarily replace missing riders in either league if their average fits.. Those lads not riding abroad then double up over here... There are ways you could try and change the system and make winning in UK Speedway actually mean something.. It is clear that those in charge choose not to... And quite correctly they have the right to do so, as they put their money in.. But by the same token, no one should then be surprised that the sport gets such a minimal following, with hardly any public awareness and media coverage, and cannot get "big brands" to associate itself with it... Poland know that they would be in exactly the same place as UK Speedway if it ran with our domestic operating model.. Hence, they dont..5 points

Peterborough ST price is competitive and from what I have heard the take up has already exceeded last years total, ST holders got all the play offs including the final as included last season as well as a programme and inside parking, makes it very good value if attending every match. Clubs always used to be pleased with money upfront from ST as it helped with early season finances so I don’t know why more teams don’t take advantage of these.4 points

Nice to see Pirates going for youth in the team. Only 17 years old so we must be prepared to give the lad a chance and not get on his case if and when he has zero scoring meetings. Reports have been all positive with praise from the Eastbourne camp. If he can add a point to his starting average, that’s all we can expect and should be happy with. Welcome to Poole Nathan.3 points

I know it's been said already but the only way is to ignore, with no interest posted against the trolls they will soon look more stupid than they already do. If you have to post a reply just say 'Ignore' or something and move on. I'm not a Poole fan but these cheat posts etc are a bit pathetic and boring now.3 points

Savage. All ideas are good ideas. It's getting someone to put it into practice and fund it that could be any stumbling block.3 points

Yet another armchair marketing expert! I assume you have successfully put your ideas into practice for existing businesses? It’s all very easy to tell everybody you have all the answers, when the reality is probably that you have no more experience of running a club than anybody else posting on this forum. Tell us what credibility you have and why you are any more capable or running the show than the current lot. We had a torrid time at Newcastle last year and Rob Grant explored several avenues to attract newcomers, including feee ticket giveaways. People wouldn’t even come for free! I know he can run a business because he runs one successfully already. Speedway is a different kettle of fish. Are you really the promotional expert you like to portray yourself to be?3 points

And that was back in the days of No1 riders running 11 point averages and teams having 2 point reserves... A huge gap between top and bottom, and even though BP's counted then, the No1's generally didn't pick many up.. Now we have No1's running less than 7.5 point averages and 4.5 point reserves so much closer in standard, meaning even less need to replace your No1 with a guest.. Just use a better RR system, which gives riders more chance to earn money and keeps the team ethos... And, more importantly, keeps the sport credible...2 points

They should be yes. However they are running a model with the type of rules that mean they struggle to attract anything other than the ever decreasing hardcore fan base.2 points

Does one of them include "know your market"? Which includes doing research into what people want, what they expect, etc etc? Ever seen a speedway promotion doing market research? And, no, not of the existing fan base, but of people who aren't fans? Finding out what it will take to convert a passer-by into an attendee? Surely to grow the fan base, that's an essential first step. After that, mould the product to what the public are prepared to buy into, and NOT just regurgitate the same product that was offered up in the 1970's on a take it or leave it basis.2 points

Lucky over a 13 year period that's some doing! As for winning the league 3 times and 4 knock out cups I think it was.2 points

In the old NL of the 80s each team had a junior side. In times of injury rider replacement or promotion of a junior to the starting 7 was used. In the event of more than one rider being injured then a member of the junior side and rider replacement was used. Unfortunately because the sport can't run and govern it's self in a professional manner that system was never built on. In the short term yes using unattached riders or rider replacement must be the way to go. Would it massively affect attendance levels? I don't think it would it's down to the hardcore like yourself who will turn up whatever. Borrowing riders from other teams in the form of the guest system to keep teams strong has done far more to damage & reduced attendances far more than having a junior in the team ever would.2 points

Targetting teenagers and those into their early twenties will do nothing unless the message and/or incentive is relevant to them. Apologies to Brum fans as this is a general speedway malaise - even those clubs that still attract decent crowds - BUT promoting the sport as a 'family-friendly' sport will more likely turn off any potential teenage audience. With teenagers described earlier as 'hunting in packs' then build up each fixture as a 'dangerous, thrilling spectacle' with possible vendettas against the opposing teams. Create some tensions in the local media between riders of each team and get the riders to be involved in some 'handbags'-type arguments. A bit of occasional booing amongst the fans would add to the tensions which must then be covered in the media.2 points

Very much a case of Kents loss, is very much Mildenhalls massive gain. It baffles will still as to where Derek found the time to annually produce the most press releases from any speedway club in the country. (And most years by a massive margin.) Plus the weekly programme, and announcing duties whilst holding down a full time job. Not sure he knows what sleep is tbh.2 points

I have no issue with people's ideas, but constantly bashing British Speedway and claiming to have easy answers to a very complex and difficult problem is different. Criticism should be constructive for it to be taken seriously, not one sided and unbalanced.2 points

The season ticket farce shows how out of touch with reality the Management are sadly. Best facility in the country run by muppets who do not have a clue. If they’re negotiating with riders like they run the club generally then it’s no surprise that nobody wants to ride for us2 points

No Bob. It just seems that posting about miscellaneous riders is the thing to do on here at the moment. I didn't want to feel left out...2 points

And the ones that pay now, finding out that the kids running around get in for nothing, will soon get pissed off and stop going. Not exactly a good business plan is it. Back to another blackboard.2 points

They also said they were a 'necessary evil' back in the halcyon days of the 70's and early 80's, yet, as has been mentioned on the forum many times before, Ipswich under John Berry proved you can operate without guests and still be highly successful.2 points

The irony of there not being one fact in this load of rubbish is again amazing, ill also expect all Poole fans to stop commenting on other teams threads. After all there for there fans1 point

I may be in the minority here but I think the Wolves look really good this season. I expect Becker to improve his average and Flint to take a huge leap forward (especially on the bigger tracks) and move above Douglas and Worrall in the averages. Wolves supporters should be very excited indeed.1 point

HEY! Stop quoting my ideas from these last few years to minimise guests from other teams & use from a pool of riders instead. Also, the fact to reduce team size too(I said 6 man teams in my posts) I, also, posted this last year with the amount of riders missing, how many times r/r or guest was used. I think it was around 6-8 times r/r & 15-20+ times a guest over my checked period per week(possibly over a 2 week period. I would need to back check if I can find it).1 point

With minimal riders being available on a lower average, Kent may have limited options on who to bring in to complete the team. Jamie Couzins & Chris Watts have both ridden plenty of laps around Iwade, so could be the 3.00 pointers at reserve. This leaves around 9.48 for the remaining 2 riders. Maybe look at getting Rob Ledwith out of retirement on his 5.93 average which leaves 3.55 for the final piece of the jigsaw.1 point

Strong top two, but not sure what Alfie's average would be. If it is that high, would it mean Danno riding as a third heat leader? If he is a second string, then the side could be quite strong. As for the other four, I'd like to see Jack Kingston back - he showed real promise at Central Park for short while, and I think I'm right in saying that he knows the Iwade track pretty well. Len was reported as saying he would do all he could to help - given his contacts, I hope he is - does anyone know?1 point

Putting a team together that can win their home matches is the best thing the new promotion can do, in my opinion.1 point
-
All the teams in the championship do, they all set out to win it. Same as somebody put earlier, even if Poole had finished 6, they would still have gone on and won it, they were head and shoulders above any team October / November, so deduct the points from matches we supposeadly cheated in, wouldn't of made the slightest difference1 point

Apart from you described yourself as a troll the other day, you made out you were only on here to get a reaction because you were isolating. You are either trolling or very very very bored!1 point

He wants to but striking a deal isn't easy. And his demands of wanting to do home matches only is a bit silly. We can't agree to that. Better to just get a 5 pointer who's committed to the club1 point

Bowtell & Morley will be the league’s best top 2 pairing by a mile. But is there enough 3.00 & 4.00 riders left to keep the team competitive?1 point

So it's £260 for a season ticket, which includes a free £3 programme. That's for 13 home matches If u was to pay on the day it would cost me £260. No saving what so ever. Only saving a programme but who buys them anymore1 point

Predictions are unreal in a sport we’re over a couple of week period you could lose half you team through injury , heres hoping injuries are at a low percentage and the best team wins over the season on the track rather than the treatment table1 point
