Peter Oakes and Russell Lanning seem to care - on a regular basis too! You do have to actually read the the right papers rather than just look at the pictures!!5 points

A regular run for me in SE London used to take me past Speedway Dry Cleaners in New Cross. I assume very close to where the old speedway used to be? Some nice memories here from Plough Lane. I only went to the speedway once for a 4TT in 1990 and then for Stock Car World Champs 2-3 years later and finally to the dogs about 10-12 years ago. Sorry to say the old place just grew more and more dilapidated. I had the same feeling the last time I went to Brandon too.2 points

I can see Flint getting a 7+ ave in the Champ, but certainly not in the Prem. Maybe 4.00 ave is more realistic for Wolves.2 points

And you'd be right last two non Russian winners were: 15 March 2003 Bauer 9 March 2003 Sereniuos .. since when (at a quick count) 139 GPs have been won by Russians.2 points

Strange one this. I remember the good old days when tigers fans would have a go at Blobby but 5 days after his post and no ones bothered. It's as if people think his views are insignificant, shame that.2 points

What a thread.... Have never read so much babyish bickering in all my life. Its embarrassing.2 points

This thread just isn't interesting at all. Nothing to do with Poole speedway now, or what their team is going to be, or their plans for 2022. It's just a lot of people bickering and arguing, how boring. I feel sorry for any of the Poole fans who have an actual interest in their club.2 points

Reference the poor crowds in 2007 Oxford started the season under Colin Horton some teams named top heavy sides preventing Oxford having no number one and a poor team Colin withdrew mid season and Alan Trump kept the Conference team going. Alan was prepared to run the next season (I think in the 2nd tier), but was stopped by the stadium owners GRA who did not want the stadium to be succesful so they could justify building houses. Thanks to lots of hard work by speedway, greyhound fans and supportive MP'S and councilors we are in the situation we are now. The new leaseholder is certaintly making moves to ensure that speedway and the stadium has the best chance of succeding.2 points

Never heard that one but he was very difficult to pass. Arms and legs everywhere but great to watch. One of my favourite 60’s riders.2 points

A full season in the championship Jordan Palin 5.70 Scunthorpe DrewKemp. 3.67 Eastbourne/Edinburgh in real times Kemp should have a higher average to be fair as both Eastbourne/Edinburgh are technical tracks but I think due to Jordan spending a full season at Peterborough around some seasoned pro’s in the Top league makes him the better rider1 point

It's always a pleasure interviewing Booey - and so easy too. Never fails to make me laugh with his quickfire one-liners (some not printable!).1 point

Lemon is a director of the club and as such is fully responsible. The way bv is set up Lemo has more control and involvement in the success or failure of the club than Smith. Smith really does what Lemo says because he still doesn’t know how speedway works. He plays the big bv boss but that’s all about his ego. The money the club loses isn’t there’s and they still pick up there wages so they probably not that worried. They’ve had 5 years to get things right at bv and they haven’t. Any other business they failed in and they’d be sacked.1 point

He had spark plug issues that night which they eventually worked out the following day.1 point

Only 17 and no experience on U.K. tracks which are very different to where he comes from. He’ll do well to keep his average as up against seasoned campaigners in the Premiership.1 point

the place has a lot to answer for, my dad met Ivan M there, my parents met there, and i met my ex wife there, my ex inlaws met there, so some good some not so good1 point

Well the answer was 100 times more interesting than any of your recent posts, and on topic . Suck it up, buttercup1 point

The losses could be even more if you "win"... And end up closing a track down.... Adrian Smith clearly has the support of those who pay the bills, and also, (from his interviews in the past), seems to understand what the sport needs to move forward, so would also be a loss to the sport overall... A tough year ahead maybe for the Aces, but crowds are very loyal there considering they had so many years of abject rubbish at the old track... Who knows, a few "cheap nights" salary wise and they could even make a profit... The irony of British Speedway....1 point

My money is on Flint to really become a top rider (7.00+ average) this season. He's great around the bigger tracks, really full throttle with little fear.1 point

Changing the subject slightly - Birmingham followers please note that the Supporters' Website is currently out of action due to a problem which I am told will take a while to correct. It will be up and running again as soon as possible.1 point

looks a good prospect, seen him in Czech Republic and Germany and he's looked really good both times, possibly better than Basso that everyone is raving about1 point

with the greatest of respect what will sacking Smith and Lemon do to the finances of Belle Vue? what will a good manager do? winning the league isnt going to create of influx of funds. ive said before there's no prestige to winning anything in Speedway in this country outside of World Events, Put simply the wider population doesn't care who wins the leagues etc so the losses will be the same1 point

The young German lad Norick Blödorn confirmed at reserve. Looked impressive at the PC meeting on borrowed gear so hopefully a good signing for us1 point

Do they offer any GF or vegan options for example? If not, then it's perfectly reasonable for anyone on a special diet to bring their own.1 point

Yehhh, but we need the security Guards there when the stadium isn't in use .....1 point

Us quiet Bears supporters are just surfing all the messages from other teams, then when the season starts, we will be happy to have a speedway team to entertain us. Strong top 5 but I have always said reserves win matches, and ours are not the strongest pairing, but we will enjoy what we have. I hope its a good safe season for all those who take part.1 point

Poole fans : basso only went to Glasgow for the money Also Poole fans: Lawson and Kemp reneged on deals with other clubs not for the money1 point

All good thanks, just got out of habit of posting on here, in fact I hardly checked things out on here for a while, close season, loss of interest etc. But now the season is getting closer I`m looking forward to getting back to track side for what could be a half decent season given how the Berwick team is shaping up, one signing to go of course.1 point

A World Final at Exeter? Can you imagine? A dear old place which I hold in great affection, but I'm glad the World Final never declined to the point it was at the County Ground Despite being a big Mort fan, I have to reluctantly agree with this. He could not get out of the gate consistently enough. The whole of the 1983 World Final is on YouTube....every race. On paper, it was quite an open field - until Muller wheeled his jet engine into the pits and had direction over track conditions, but I digress - and I would have Mort in the 8 or so riders good enough to win it that day. At the interval, he was doing pretty well on 6 points. But 4 of those were earned from the back. You just can't win World Finals earning 2/3 of your points that way. No one can....and he tailed off after the interval. Even had a World Final been held at Hyde Road, I still doubt it. It was great when he won the BLRC, but things out of his control helped him that day too. And if it had been a World Final at Belle Vue, with every rider peaking with the best machinery geared up to that day, all having prepared in practice, then I think his odds lengthen. Brilliant rider of course - as I am sure Nigel Boocock was - but there is a difference between being brilliant and being the best.1 point

I've got the same figures as you. With a couple of 3.00, they'd be at 40.99. So over the limit. Averages are reduced by 8% if a rider has missed a full year due to injury. Stoneman missed 2021 and Hopwood missed 2019 and 2021. Not sure if either or both riders were missing due to injury, but if we give them the benefit of the doubt and say they were both injured and couldn't ride, and give them both 8% reduction, then Stoneman becomes 7.56 and Hopwood 6.59, and it would fit.1 point
