  1. For god's sake, move on already... the Redcar saga from last year is over give it a rest

  2. So the Tigers head over the Pennines with a deserved win from the NSS, despite being not tracking two of their top 4 riders. R/R yielded 5+1, would have expected more from Cook, Worrall scored 7+1 (ignoring his R/R) more than could have been expected from Musielak. Didn't think the track was as good as it can be, but some decent racing. Gate 4 was a handicap as it was last week, especially early in the meeting. For the Aces. Fricke - poor showing from a GP rider, failed to beat Holder and couldn't find a way past Worrall on two occasions. Etheridge - poor until heat 10 when he joined Fricke for the only Aces 5-1 of the night. Allen - poor, ponderously slow, looked overweight. Overtaken by Neilsen in heat 12. Wright - did what could have been expected of him, had the beating of the Sheffield middle order, going from 3rd to 1st in his first race. Kurtz - a little hit & miss, only rider to beat Holder with what looked the quickest rider of the night in heat 11 certainly the only time any rider ventured near the air fence. Plugged away on the slower inside in heat 13 keeping Holder honest but never really looked like overhauling the Tigers #1. Blodorn - showed potential in his first ride amongst the Tigers reserves, overtook Howarth in heat 14 to make the home side favourites in the last heat decider. Brennan - won heat 2 by a country mile, poor second ride - way off the pace, good win over Ellis in heat 8 then ran a last behind Allen & Neilsen in heat 12 but was never far behind. For the Tigers. Holder - best rider on show by a distance without ever really getting into top gear. Worrall - somewhat hit & miss, two defeats of Fricke. Howarth - largely anonymous, never looked likely to win a heat. Ellis - much better than last week, ran a last in heat 13 other than that will be happy with his night. Neilsen - was the better of the two visiting reserves, crucial pass of Allen to join Worrall for a 1-5 in heat 12. Mountain - picked up 2 points beating each home reserve once is all that can be expected from a visiting reserve. IMO stupid decision in heat 15 from Lemon, Wright hadn't looked anywhere near quick enough to beat either of the visiting top 2 so why use him rather than Fricke and having done that why give him gate 1 rather than Kurtz? Aces only needed a 3-3 to win the meeting. If Aces are going to make a change and it's one of Etheridge or Allen to make way... Etheridge 1, Allen 0 after tonight. But neither really impressed.

  3. Teams like Leicester make a mockery of speedway, the track looks fantastic but it is prepared in a way that only produces one racing line, God help any visiting rider who tries to go wide on the bends because they siink faster than the Bismark. Lion's fans would call it "home advantage" whereas I prefer the word "cheating". All it produces is a guaranteed boring follow the leader home win

  5. On his social media that he realises what the problem was for him He can have those sorts of meetings for other teams… save the decent scoring for us

  6. I fear a good tonking for the Brummies. Will Ellis be in France, Poland, his back garden or timbucktoo? If he is there will he have one of his better bikes. You certainly need a motor round Berwick. I think Proctor and Pijper are astute signings tailor made for that very exciting banking. Flint is reaching undoubted potential now and in Bomber and Wells 2 proper heat leaders and Etheridge is a PL reserve too and like Bickley a track specialist. As for streaming, a great initiative I wish well but is it really going to attract new support? I'll be happy if it keeps existing support enthused enough to keep supporting at home and may be entice a few previous fans to try again. No point getting new fans in if old ones are drifting off in greater numbers or cherry picking matches. Berwick under the Courtney's are bucking trends and succeeding in growing the sport. Good luck to them. I look forward to watching the stream.

  7. Batchelor always seems to go better with a strong no1 in the team, and historically has done very well with doyley.

  8. And equally complaining about grading breaks while demanding the quality racing that we wouldn't get if regrading didn't take place.

  9. In the current economic climate I'd say that is pretty good going! Would be a big crowd at some tracks.

  10. I think he is what you need, he is reserve rider who will score a lot of important points for Peterborough, you can't afford to wait after one meeting at a new track! Who do you think you could of got on his average?

  11. Flappy Flapping already..... Chill out! Not even had an official meeting yet.

  12. Good start to the season from Ritchie Worrall. 15 point max for Leicester on Saturday and 9+2 from 5 rides guesting for Sheffield at Belle Vue this evening in the No 3 position. Could be a real trump card at reserve early on.

  13. Would point out that the meeting wasn't an actual Birmingham Brummies meeting hence the team actually been called Birmingham Past and Present not Offically Birmingham Brummies, The riders weren't contractually obliged to ride in the Wolves meeting.

  16. Spring is here, the wee animals are getting frisky and everyone's rummaging in their hall cupboards, looking for their speedway jackets and woolly headgear! On the first night, it's all new. Everything to play for. Every rider knows his average will rise like one of Mary Berry's best cakes, and every supporter secretly believes this will be THE year. The first match of the whole Championship campaign starts at seven on Saturday, and is a repeat of last season's opener, which ended up as a big win for the Brummies. This time around, Bomber's on the side of the angels -- but the visitors have recruited the British Champion! It'll be a first-ever presentation by the BSN too -- and with local interest at a healthy level, thanks to the Harris-factor, expect a bumper opening-night crowd. To avoid the queues, e-ticketing is in place per the club website. FTS Bandits: 1 Chris Harris (captain), 2 Ty Proctor, 3 Theo Pijper, 4 Leon Flint, 5 Ricky Wells, 6 Jye Etheridge, 7 Kyle Bickley Curtis Sport Brummies: 1. Claus Vissing, 2 James Shanes, 3 Josh Auty, 4 Ashley Morris (captain), 5 Adam Ellis, 6 Stefan Nielsen, 7 James Pearson Referee: The Dish

  18. In the Hyde road days, Aces fans would watch their team at home in the afternoon and then dart to the Speedway at night… often with City and United fans sat together enjoying their speedway

  19. Your fast becoming an embarrassment to Redcar with your silly posts. Leicester was built by the same man who built Redcar, although it has been tinkered with a number of times. A lot of tracks have there own racing line, some because they are around football or rugby pitches, some because of the angle of the bends, no two tracks are the same. Does that mean they are all ‘ cheating ‘ ? No it doesn’t ! As a famous world champion said “ They are all there to be ridden “.

  22. Sorry to hear about your wife. I know that things have been tough for a while now. On the subject of a BB, if you can evidence those conditions and negotiate the online application (perhaps Citizens Advice could help) then you can apply for your own BB because the qualifying criteria was extended recently to include hidden disabilities for those people who fall outside of automatic badge qualification.

  23. I will be disappointed if they don’t occasionally score a few more than last night. Nielsen was averaging more than that last season before injury and didn’t mountain score about 14 on a visit to Belle Vue ? I don’t expect them to get heat leader scores every meeting but in certain meetings you need your reserve to get a big score to win the meeting. Jordan Palin did it on occasions last season for Peterborough didn’t he ?

  25. From a Sheffield point of view I thought it was a decent meeting. Hard to tell how good we are when there’s 2 riders missing. It’s ok been favourites on paper but totally different on track. Holder and Ellis did what was expected while Worrall was a decent guest. The other 3 struggled to make too much impression. Disappointed with Kyles showing he didn’t seem as aggressive as usual and poor from the gate. Hopefully he will turn it round asap. Good to start with an away win but the bottom 3 will need to up their game if we are to win anything and on our next visit I would expect Belle Vue to be a lot stronger. My message to our riders would be don’t believe all the hype get on track and prove it Good luck to the Tigers for the rest of the season

  27. Especially given its basically averaging around twenty quid to get in for an adult and not too many kids make up the numbers... Maybe if Matej Zagar comes over they may need a couple of hundred more if he is on his "old deal"....

  29. Redcar got their revenge in the league visit, insisting on every morsel of dirt being removed from the track, delaying the meeting by and hour and taking home the points.

  31. 1) The Birmingham promoter's could have held up their hands and forfeited the tie. 2) Speedway is fast becoming a pi## pot sport because Clubs like yours are paying extortionate rents at dog tracks and are denied a secondary income from concessions. The clubs in trouble all seem to be tenants while the prosperous clubs have their own facilities.

  32. I know people love putting the boot in on Lemon but do folk really think the heat 15 choices would have been made without a chat between he and the three riders concerned? I don't believe team managers ever name nominated riders without discussions with who might be in heat 15.

  33. Nothing could be predicted from sick note Cook, he is very inconsistent, last time round NSS for Ipswich in 2021 he scored 5. Musielak wouldn't have scored more then 7, has never done in his previous visits and was lot worst last week. Ignoring heat 14 5-1 then Why stupid, Wright was top scorer and was very fast in heat 14, you have already stated above that Fricke was poor. Gate 1 was one of the worst gates, only 1 win all meeting, gate 3 was the better gate.

  38. Not sure why people do it every year but they can't wait to hammer teams if they have a dodgy first meeting. It's March for Pete's sake, riders all take different amounts of time to get up to speed. Belle Vue haven't even lost tonight yet.

  43. On the subject of the Stream… Can I pay a huge tribute to Andy Hague and his brother Paul of Speedway Portal. I can’t begin to tell you of the hours and hours of dedication and commitment from these guys. They have put so much planning, preparation and thought into the project setting the highest goals for quality. They have overcome countless technical obstacles and spent, literally, days on the infrastructure and studio set up. The result is a product that is highly professional and should shine amongst it’s rivals. WELL DONE GUYS. you have an equally committed team alongside you, going forward, and you should ALL be proud heading into Pirates TV’s inaugural season. Wishing you every success, much deserved!

  44. The late eighties and early to mid nineties were my golden era at Lynn as I'm a little too young to remember the seventies and early eighties. Henka, Loramski, Brhel, Richard Knight, Bobby Ott, Lofqvist, Emerson Fairweather etc. Always seemed to be last heat deciders and the racing was awesome with proper shale. And on Satuday nights!
