As someone who is obviously close to Rob you are certainly not helping with the reputation of the club with posts like this. In any line of business where customers pay their money then they are entitled to their opinions and I am sure Rob is big enough to accept that his position will no doubt bring criticism when things go wrong. The former promotion certain had regular criticism over the years. As someone who works for the club maybe a bit of professionalism should be shown by you, especially at a time when the club needs more supporter not less. As a forum for opinions then if you don’t like people having their own then maybe best to avoid reading it!10 points

Not being deliberately controversial but the elephant in the room is clear. As long as the older generation; Harris; Nicholls, Cook, Masters, Lawson, King; Morris, Worrals; Wright; Kerr; etc are allowed to double up, many of them that could be affored 5-10 years ago but which cannot be afforded now but which some Clubs have to pay to be competitive then the sink will be continually blocked and the younger riders paths will be lost and wasted. They will go to Poland and u24 leagues or if not good enough drift away from the Sport. May be you have hit on something but with a twist. PL for all CL for British born or Qualified Under 24 with may be one over 24 or foreign rider oNLY allowed4 points

Spot on! Great Britain Speedway Team has arguably the best junior programme in Speedway, even the envy of Poland apparently and then dumps it's developed riders into a 2nd league flooded with top league talent. The likes of Leon Flint, Tom Brennan, Joe & Dan Thompson, Jack Thomas, Anders Rowe, Drew Kemp, Dan Gilkes, Jordan Jenkins, Jason Edwards & Jordan Palin should be heat leader/ top second string standard in the CL instead they're second string / reserves. It's really all a bit of a mess at the moment with the Polish restrictions and PL only having a 6 team league and until that changes things are likely to remain the same4 points

Whoever is in charge of getting things right at any club needs to get them right on the night. Whether that's the track, programme, presentation, stewarding, medical cover etc..... The fans, like myself, can make valid opinions whether they are educated ones or not. Wot we see on the night is wot we see & determines whether we are attracted to go back again or not no matter what explanation is given when things go wrong. All these wishy washy reasons given, valid or not, are not good enough especially when trying to attract new fans. Oxford was so bad, extremely bad with the dust vs Poole it was like desert storm. Do you think new fans wud want to put up with that each week. Never had shale dust & chips before. I've been going to speedway for 43 years & that was shocking at Oxford, I don't care even if they said something like we put x amount of gallons of water down blah blah blah.... It's all about getting the product right on the night, nothing else matters not even valid reasons!!!!3 points

I can only see manipulation on the rise. Teams whos play-off chances have gone will see riders tripping over themselves to finish last. Two "bad" matches could easily see a rider trim 1-2 points off thier average.3 points

Wot on earth av Eurosport got to do with BSN or an individual club's live stream?3 points

Winning at home is good for business Ben Morley will beat a fair few Heat Leaders at home Away from home if he picks up 3-5 points he could win you the title2 points

I seem to remember this being the reason rolling averages were brought in, in the first place wasnt it? With the wholel premise being the longer the number of races and meetings, the less impact a few dodgy ones had...2 points

Sorry, but with respect, if you had been at the Ecco arena, last night , you might want to revise your score forecast. Bears carrying more passengers than Stagecoach.2 points

Rode since then though and implied it wouldn't cause an issue. Sadly another in the Bridger mould where talent is there but preperation and dedication is massively lacking. Thought teams were daft to include him on his comeback and still looks a daft decision now. Probably makes Belle Vue stronger though.2 points

Funnily enough I emailed Redcar on Thursday morning enquiring about a live stream and they replied no. Then about 6 hours later I got an email saying that they will now be doing a live stream. Let's hope Glasgow will do the same.2 points

Warm weather and strong winds all afternoon meant the track was drying out as fast as they could get water into it.2 points

The bottom line is the riders are just not good enough. When you see the young Danes and Aussies making progress in Poland starting from scratch it hits home.It doesn’t matter who you are coming up against in GB you just have to beat them.!! The young Brits in the Polish u/24 league look out of their depth .There is a decent set up in Uk though.2 points

I'm sorry but that really means these riders are the better ones at 2nd level speedway. If they are as good as that they should be holding their on at PL level too. Dan Bewley has done it and Tom Brennan is certainly showing he is capable. I suppose CL heat leaders should be equivalent of PL 2nd strings and CL 2nd strings should be PL reserves and equally the same relationship between CL and NDL. The only ways to improve are more track time (the only benefit from doubling up IMHO) and racing against the strongest opponents. Problem is PL & CL are basically 90% the same product bar racing on different nights under different names.2 points

I have to agree with all the above , speedway's El Classico should be available to the wider speedway public . We cant all be privileged to be there in person like me2 points

Easily solved then. Just ring the brummies number , ask for retentions & tell them you will be leaving if you don't get your discount.2 points

Not that’s it really relevant but my memory of that day was a strangely poignant one, although still riding I was also mechanic for hynek stichuer and we had gone to stay with hynek while going to the czech GP, on the Sunday we went to pardubice track, there were only us there and we were having a drink in the workshops under the pits of which one was formally lee Richardson’s, his stickers were all over the benches and cabinets, we locked up and went for food and we heard the news he had died, it’s was sickening when I think back to it but just felt odd and poiniant that we had been in in old workshop at the time he was killed, as I said not really relevant but reading this thread just reminded me of that day2 points

As I don't have a smart phone, I won't/can't go. So with my wife and grandson that is three less on the attendance figures. Stupid idea. Would be interesting to see how many of us old un's who do not do modern technology don't bother going.2 points

I have contacted the club and sent the following message. Perhaps if enough did so we could sway them into providing a stream. Hi there, there are plenty of Poole and neutral fans who would love to watch this meeting on a live stream. I can understand under normal circumstances not offering a live feed but this is a top clash between the best two teams in the league, in a time when travelling the length of the county is prohibitive due to fuel costs. I would be happy to pay for a stream even if it is a single camera setup to save costs. Pretty sure it would be well subscribed to. Please consider it. Kind regards Steve Shovlar1 point

I wouldn`t disagree with you but speedway fans up and down the Country are used to seeing their riders racing elsewhere rather than for their own club. Berwick aren`t weakened to much IMO as Nick Morris is a more than capable replacement for Harris.1 point

Oxford engine room just not up to it at present and no big scores at reserve. Not a good combination. Play off place still up for grabs thou1 point

But the averages can be a joke. Eg last season MPT was no 1 in the Panthers' PL averages yet 4th in the CL Bears' averages and again this year he is again top at Panthers but not at Plymouth. The whole average system needs restructured and team building built around 45pts. If they insist heat 15 doesn't count in averages then it shouldn't count in match scores either. I've suggested for years that the team building averages should be the previous year's winning team' final average and that way you get a) teams building up rather than diluting and b) the opporchancity for a team to be kept together with some loyalty as a bonus especially for young fans who have spent their pocket money on memorabilia etc of their favourite riders.1 point

Was that because they thought it was going to rain. As in the pre meeting interviews they kept mentioning the clouds!1 point

For a whole variety of reasons I`ve never been confident that speedway would or will ever return to Brandon, this is just another nail in the coffin.1 point

Would the weakening of the CL cause a decline in fans also.. i already pick matches based on who is there and i have no interest in the NL… i dont think i personally would bother with a lower standard and cant imagine im alone. I appreciate everyone cant be catered for just put my thoughts in1 point

Lions rode really well. Some bad luck for Monarchs which made it harder to keep in touch, but they rely very heavily on Masters and Pickering (nod to Kye Thomson too who looks a good prospect) and the rest didn't really look great. I want to say as well that I paid to watch on Monarchs TV and I was impressed by how good the presentation was, I'll certainly do that again.1 point

Much prefer Eurosport to BT Sport. For a start Eurosport is cheaper and has a major advantage that you can pause/rewind/fast forward...makes it much more flexible when watching1 point

Whilst I agree with pretty much all the sentiments above, and sounding off makes many feel better, I fear you are all just wasting your breath and your time. The fundamental failings of speedway in the uk are simply that the sport is governed and run by those individual business owners within it. They manipulate whatever is necessary to their own ends, and will continue to do so. Any new member to the club will soon be hounded out or suppressed if they start to break the mould. Until that changes, everything else is window dressing, posturing, and general BS Its never going to change voluntarily, as to do so, you need all these business owners to hand over the control of the rules by which their businesses operate. This isn't a championship problem, it's all uk leagues. The only way these people are going to hand over control is ££££ and lots of it. That's very unlikely, so if you want to carry on bickering about how wrong things are, fine, but at least be realistic. Unless some Barry Hearne type figure walks through the door offering big £££ to take control of UK speedway, It's not going to change. All the BS in the world is just spin. When all is said and done, we are just customers of some business who sell a product. They do as little as they can to get as much ££ as they can. Your 'rights' are you can either buy the product or not. You can bitch and moan about it or not. And please don't ever quote the 'fans' thing. Fans are just a clever marketing ploy to make individuals buy into a brand where they will make illogical decisions and spend more money on a product than is sensible. Turn someone into a fan and you have a gullible cash cow waiting for you at every opportunity. Might sound harsh, but it's true. I think we should just spend more time enjoying the simplicity of watching 4 people racing 4 laps with no brakes a bit more, for what it is. Trying to ignore what we know goes on in the background. If you think too hard about the rest of it, it just sucks the life and soul out of you. Keep hoping for a Barry Hearne type figure to come along, but I believe that opportunity was had, and rejected 25 years or so ago.1 point
