  1. Weather permitting I will get a few more this weekend me old pal... but it is going well and thanks for asking... Over 100 metal posts concreted in around the outside ready for the actual fence (and the air fence) and the pits gate got hung as well... Back this weekend and I will get a couple of snaps (which may include the seating areas with a bit of luck) Regards THJ

  2. Distance of opposition? Berwick were at Plymouth last night, hardly a mammoth journey!

  3. Do the regulations cover off how many teams Bomber can ride for per night in the Pairs?

  5. So we came down for a few days break and planned to go watch the Speedway later. Called of early so I hope they have called it right or its another annoyed supporter who wont be coming back

  6. I believe it is limited to just 6, but may increase next year if Swindon re join the Premiership.

  8. Having earlier not been too impressed with Tatum as the lead commentator, think he has settled down and relaxed into and is doing a much better job. With Chris Louis they are turning into a decent partnership.

  9. Looked gash in one of the televised Polish 3rd? division matches recently and wouldn't become an asset. Get well soon Rene. So unlucky with injuries.

  10. That's a shame to hear about Rene,,, it might mean that Newcastle just have to muddle along until BWD regains his fitness?

  15. Dont think turnip on the centre green is going to be possible - he will probably take root!!! ps. Danny Ford explains the early decision in the Echo online. Plenty of days/dates available to reschedule

  17. Michael Fish has predicted the heavy rain tonight, so should be spot on
    2 points
  18. Are you for real? The decision was taken early as the evening forecast is for rain and with the possibility of thunderstorms. Now if the forecast turns out to be inaccurate then have your say.

  20. Someone has already quoted that Rowe rode last night in Poland. So Ipswich must have dropped him for now.

  21. The problem is cost. The way squad systems operate in Poland and Sweden particularly, is based on being paid for the meetings you ride, and a healthy signing on fee as a retainer for your services if you don't ride. The UK essentially doesn't pay signing on fees at all, and it's main attraction to riders is that you should ride every available meeting bar injury or dramatic loss of form. In Poland particularly, 2 bad rides and your replaced for the meeting and as many have found out, won't ride again that year. Squads just don't work without funding and we all know the UK doesn't have a pot to pish in

  25. The top two in the NDL table go head-to-head at Shielfield on Saturday! Bullets: 1 Kyle Bickley, 2 Mason Watson, 3 Ace Pijper, 4 Greg Blair, 5 Luke Crang, 6 Kieran Douglas, 7 Ben Rathbone Royals: 1 Alfie Bowtell, 2 Jamie Halder, 3 Danno Verge, 4 Joe Alcock, 5 Ben Morley, 6 Chris Watts, 7 Sam Wooley. As well as the NDL racing, there will be an NJL mini-match, festuring Berwick's Academy youngsters and Redcar Cubs. All for a tenner! Which means you get 21 heats for your money at less than 50p per race! Bring it on!

  26. Yep. Yep Laurence Rogers, the genial team manager... I read somewhere that James Shanes mows Rogers's lawn for him so there's obviously some favouritism going on, guaranteeing his favourite lawn mower extra rides to give him a decent pay day at the clubs expense rather than paying a decent wage out of his own pocket for cutting the grass.

  29. No rain in Parkstone. The main heavy rain has missed. But there is a small cell of heavy rain which might hit in the next 30 mins. Other than that nothing else. But probably the right call considering the closeness of the rain. It could have hit and no doubt would have affected attendance.

  30. After what they done to the track have vowed never to set foot in there again ,whitehaven rugby for me now

  31. Yeah forecast is a lot better now, but when it got rained off at near midday, at that time it was 90% chance of heavy rain at time of meeting! Hindsight is a wonderful thing. I am sure the management are gutted that it looks a hasty decision.

  32. I’ve seen a few meetings at Plymouth over the years and that was definitely the poorest by some considerable way due to track conditions. Only genuine pass I can recall is Bomber on Hans as the stream missed the other one… Palm Toft passing someone IIRC as they were hyping up Barker who was well in front… Incredibly frustrating to be so close to a point yet again and just missing out but that’s what it is.

  34. Can’t believe I am reading it’s off! No rain so far and it seems extremely premature to me. Yes there’s rain coming up from the south west but it could pass to the west of Poole. I hope it doesn’t but think quite a few fans will turn up at the stadium tonight wondering what the hell is going on if it’s a dry evening. Rotten luck to Turnip coming all this way at great expense. I wonder if the Poole promotion can treat him when he is next down? Skidder is it possible to bring it up with Danny so he can get a tour of the pits and watch a heat or 2 from centre green? Just a thought.

  35. The problem with that prediction of thunderstorms its impossible to predict where and when they will occur. its getting a problem now when clubs call of meetings because it MIGHT rain. The promoters may well have made the correct decision but then maybe they may not have. Not sure I could run my business that way but it is what it is I guess I also understand that there is a fine line in profit and loss in crowd numbers but the problem is every single year clubs run out of time to run meetings and end up running them on a cold damp october when no one wants to attend so they end up losing money then anyway. we have had it happen at Ipswich for many years (although not last year when we got knocked out of everything early on lol) .

  36. It was certainly a waste using Wells as a TS to beat McGurk, who scored 0! Even if he beat Andersen, that's only 1 point gained compared to what a Berwick reserve would've done

  39. Good to see the BSPL website giving details on the Premiership Pairs. In the write up it says that each team must have a Rising Star as their third rider and the RS must take at least one ride but then the list of who is riding for each team only gives the names of the top two riders and fails to say who the RS is! Now I know we all know who the RS is on each team but why leave their names out of the write up?

  40. I think they have missed a trick with the streaming, they needed to get everyone on board by knocking it out cheaply the first year and then increasing it when a lot of people are using it.

  42. Still can’t believe we’ve put Riss at 2! Started the season as our best rider after Doyle but since being moved to 2 his form has dipped slightly. Winning races breeds confidence and you’re not gonna win too many when you’re in races with two number 1’s. Barker at 2 all day long for me. Put Riss back at 3 or 4 and strengthen the engine room again. On last night, Riss seemed to be having a few machinery issues so maybe that was a factor in not being in 15.

  43. I don't think Ellis is completely blameless, he must take his share of the blame, pleading ignorance every time something like this happens or going silent is no defence. He must have known he was being "sold" to the fans as a season long signing. Quotes were being attributed to him in the media urging fans to get along and back the promotion earlier in the season... but as usual silence from Ellis... just his dad coming on here again with nothing meaningful to contribute. To Ellis and the promotion it's a business... to the fans it's a passion and they deserve an explanation, it turns out that this rumour was true.
