  1. Is the biggest surprise 3 guests and no Harris, Brennan or howarth?

  2. I honestly believe that In this case an experienced speedway person would be the best fit, which is not the area of expertise I have to be honest. I do have some experience in the areas that would (in my view) need addressing but given the position of the club I do feel an experienced hand would be the best option for them. In terms of approaching Rob, I have a few times offered assistance in which ever way I can and have also supplied potential links to another North East sports club to help with increasing the fan base but neither offer has been taken up. I love the club so have always had a willingness to help fight for survival and have volunteered my time in the past for a number of years. However, like THJ I think that ship has now sailed and I would not be interested in working within the current management structure as my own opinions are so far away from that of the current owner. He has his way and runs the club as he sees fit. It is his club and he has that right to do so and I totally respect that point but it’s not for me.

  4. To be honest the in-between race tractor grading never bothered me...too busy talking to my fellow supporters on the terraces to take any great notice which was a great part of the evening out for me!

  5. What I understand is, Atkins can't sign for Oxford till he's removed from the Plymouth 1-7. Plymouth can't remove him from their 1-7 till they sign a replacement. Plymouth can't find anyone willing to drive to Plymouth for Tuesday's. I guess this means Atkins may have to sit out the rest of the season? Tbh I don't feel for him, he's left Plymouth in the lurch & it certainly seems childish to leave a club because you disagreed with the team manager. From what I've read of his Dad causing issues, not sure why Oxford would want to sign "Team Atkins"?

  8. Definitely an ongoing situation where both sides are much better on paper with there 'number ones' missing and even more so for Brummies 'losing' Auty and able to replace with Pickering Anson a regular basis Howarth....ludicrous.....although they are still pretty poor Sedgman aside

  9. Best move for you dropping down, apart from a handful, teams are made up of the same riders, we just pay more to watch them, being honest i would have dropped down a long time ago, more variety team wise and quite a few northern based clubs that would swell the gate with better away support, not being beholden to Poland on your home race day is another bonus.

  10. Why? He's ambitious and wanted to see how he would fare against Bowtell. Brilliant display from both reserves last night.

  11. When will folk on here understand that Ty Proctor is injured, was replaced because of the damage to his neck? If he cant race for Berwick, why do they think he can race for their clubs?

  13. Will be tougher tests to come for Killeen but thats quite a debut, shame he was given ht 15 (could/should have taken the paid max). Has Extance walked away again? Really disappointing form from King at present. Injuries aside the Centurions look a shambles and can't see them tracking an NDL team next season sadly.

  14. In Britain the thing that has always stuck in my mind Moxey was John Berry..He certainly was not everyone’s cup of tea but he could of revamped speedway in the Uk someone independent but that avenue was lost.

  15. The bikes were slower, if a heat is two seconds slower that is two more seconds that gives a passing opportunity Heat 1 was OK, Fricke chasing the Wolves duo, heat 2 was better with Brennan battling the Wolves duo. Heat 4 saw Brennan pass Morris on the run in to the line. Fricke passing Morris in heat 6 was a great move. Next time you visit you could ask Zagar to be slower out the tapes if you want?

  16. How many of us will reach our death beds regretting our wasted hours at the speedway watching mostly track grading? I honestly think back now and feel it was only out of habit I attended for so long. Still love the sport, and its history, but can't be bothered with the modern stuff. It ain't the speedway I fell for. Most on here saying they've stopped attending and don't miss it, are merely echoing what I've been saying for yonks. I was only warning back then the sport needed a big shakeup. Look what level it's down to now.

  18. The track staff at Glasgow are the best in the country. They knew what their track needed despite pressure from riders, officials and spectators. It needed time to dry out and then graded. It was perfect come five pm. You have days like this in Scotland with the weather. To those that left you missed a good meeting. Speedways biggest enemy is the weather. Hats off to the riders who in nearly all cases were patient and got on with it. The referee deserves credit for he was calm during the whole proceedings. Everyone I have mentioned deserves credit where it due. Well done!

  19. Track staff deserve every praise , at three o clock there looked no chance of this going ahead. It turned out to be an entertaining meeting despite the scoreline . Ben Basso was brilliant , though I think him and Ostergaard should be split up . Both riding the same line and getting in each others way , could end in tears one of these weeks

  22. I think the point I am trying is make is being missed. Unless I am wrong no rider in say 1966 could become WC without qualifying from at least one meeting in 1966. I don’t remember Bjorn Knutsson being seeded to the 1966 final as reigning champion. In essence the GP’s are a World Final spread over a series of rounds. Without the Russian ban Laguta would have been in this year’s WF series, not having had to qualify this year. Therefore Mauger, Fundin and Briggs were at a disadvantage in the 60’s and 70’s compared to Laguta, Hancock and Woffinden. Under the GP system riders are seeded on the basis of the previous year. The previous generation were not.

  24. Not sure why a club should get "special dispensation" for a guest, according to the rules they should either be allowed a guest or not! Rules should be black & white and easy to understand!

  27. Whilst it was far from the toughest of opposition it was probably the strongest debut performance since Waj or Palin? Obviously bigger tests and tracks to come but Killeen looks like a promising rider at many levels. As for Plymouth built with a strong numer 1 eating a big chunk of averages and Atkins on a lower average means that problems will continue. Andrews is a shadow of his former self, Extance appears to be Exit and the performances of the 1-5 have nullified any improvements from Trigger.

  32. Based on Joe Thompson's recent form I've spotted a flaw with the rolling averages dropping from 20-10 matches by the end of the season. If Joe races the last 8-10 matches in the team he could have a 3.00 ave for next year, if he races the last 8-10 matches at reserve he could have a 6.00 ave for next year! Sometimes riders will go from team to reserve throughout the season (Kennedy / Lambert / Palin) which should even itself up. But as the first half of the fixtures are forgotten, could make a big difference for 2023 starting averages!

  36. Ya not wrong on a Public Face but lets be fair Granty definitely has a face for Radio... The thing is how long will the other clubs put up with this; two home thrashings for the Diamonds but the away teams will be paying out 6 to 7 grand with no opportunity to recover any of that; the riders will be laughing their socks off with an easy pay day but the away clubs must be feeling the pinch for sure... I wouldn't be surprised if there has not been the conversation with the BSPL and Granty to actually pull the plug on the season because that was going to be his option last season until the "Go Fund Me" and then the crying match about closing the club; and supporting the double headers; which brought fans back in their droves; however he's used the "Go Fund Me" routine and the "cry wolf ploy" on closure so he has sort of run out of options... John English Reborn all over again and just like the pictures I think this is the part where most people came in so its not worth seeing the second part of the movie because you know what is going to happen... (and yes you have to be a certain age to appreciate that analogy) Sadly, I think you are right and I also can only see the current status quo for the remainder of the season. Regards THJ

  38. I think winning makes us see meetings different. I enjoyed heat 1 then was a bit bored upto the last 5/6 heats . The heats that were good were very good but there was a fair number from the gate races but we were getting well beaten Similar to the Heathens at Mildenhall, I could never understand the great little race track comments. But we always got beat fairly easily there which probably went to me not getting it

  39. And this is why when Matt Ford asked the fans what league to be in I didn't say this one. I remember one season seeing Swindon at Poole 4 times!! So at the moment if I wanna see Berwick at Poole for example you have to go otherwise they might not be back down again. Whereas if you wanna see say Sheffield at BV you'll have a few to pick from!

  40. I have to say, I’m loving your style of presenting. Always looks like you’re having plenty of fun and a very relaxed nice style of interviewing. Not the same old cliche questions you hear all the time. Keep doing what what you're doing mate. Keep your own style and don’t change.

  41. When we first knew the make up of our 2022 team, I thought that we would have a reasonably successful season, but quite obviously, it has not turned out this way, and the Brummies campaign has been blighted by a succession of wet or cold Wednesday nights, plus the undeniable fact that there have been collectively, some consistently poor performances from several of the riders. The consortium has worked extremely hard to get things on an upward motion and in my opinion, have not deserved much of the criticism or blame which has been forthcoming. As far as the Adam Ellis situation is concerned, I have no more inside knowledge than anyone else, but my thinking is that his signing on the eve of the season was something of a "fingers crossed" operation for both club and rider, and most likely seen as a kind of insurance for Adam as an alternative should his Continental bookings dried up. When they didn't, his best option seemed to be to move on. The club would obviously have hoped that this wouldn't happen, but it did and there was little that they could do about it. This is just my own theory and is not intended as a criticism of Adam or the club. He is as entitled as any of us to look after his own interests and his own income. Of course I am disappointed by the way that the season has panned out so far, and fully realise that things are not looking too rosy for the Brummies just now, but ever the optimist, and am hoping for the best for the club which I have supported for the past 69 years, and hope that the hard core of our support will stick with it through admittedly difficult times.

  45. My opinion of the young Kiwi was about on the money. But to take him out at this stage & replace him with Jack Smith who has proved time & again that the Championship is beyond him. I think if that was my option I'd stick with Congreve, at least you still have hope that he can improve.

  46. Hi Scotty , Thanks for tuning in last night. Ill be honest it was my first go on the BSN commentary as the team and i thought we would give it ago to see what happens. As it happens i did make a few mistakes here and there and sometimes probably came out with wrong phase, I think even i under estimated how hard it is to comment on Live speedway as it happens so fast. Its gave me a real appreciation of commenters and how skilled our own Ian Brannen is! My style is very different to most Looking at the comments I'm defo a marmite kind of person as I've had a lot of lovely comments and like yours not so good. Just wondering if i was to do another one again what could i improve on to be less Irritating? But don't worry it wont be too soon and ill be back in the Booth on Sunday in Newcastle.
