Tbh I don't understand all the hate for Lambert, yeah he's never going to be a world beater and he's not the greatest rider ever to grace the sport, but I'd happily have him in my team as a number 2, always a trier and a solid, experienced rider, particularly at scunthorpe and other similarly sized tracks. I quite liked him at Newcastle even though it didn't really work out for him. He's nowhere near one of my top choices don't get me wrong, but he's not so bad that you'd have to be daft to sign him surely?? And although I don't really know him personally he seems like a really chilled nice guy6 points

I started supporting Glasgow in 1964 and I can honestly say that I have been enjoying the best racing in the last couple of years. What the Facennas have done for the club is immense and the way the track has been prepared lately has provided some absolutely fantastic tussles. There are so many racing lines so not just providing the occasional pass but passing and re-passing on several occasions. The downside of this is no, or very little, home advantage which makes it easier for visiting team as most riders seem to love riding the track. I’m happy to forfeit home advantage (and therefore part of the chance of winning medals) to see exciting racing week in, week out. That’s my positive view despite all the shenanigans (more than usual) that have made our sport a bit of a laughing stock this year.5 points

If there were possible delays and the “i’s and t’s” weren’t crossed then don’t tell people news would be released on a certain date. I’d imagine Panthers fans were looking forward to today and are now disappointed and frustrated. If nothing is finalised, don’t say anything until it is!4 points

I went up to Redcar and Berwick to follow Scunthorpe and spoke to Lambo in the pits ,hehad been on the phone to all sorts of riders asking if they would guest for us . That stands well with me knowing it meant something to him to try and get us in the playoffs , it’s a yes from me for Lambo . Also an ex Scunny ride will be back and cut down on his travel time from last season3 points

Well personally, I DO have a desire for weekly speedway along with everyone I stand with at Glasgow.3 points

Read an Interview on FB with Lambert he said he's signed up with a Championship team for 2023. Can only be at Scunny as no one else is daft enough to take him.3 points

Championship 36.00 that’s NDL standard, what would you charges for admission. No way that will work.3 points

That's bad customer relations but I guess par for the course with speedway promotions. Chris Shears during his one year at Cowley was another who mixed with the fans but had his wrist slapped by the BSPA for the audacity of running an old fashion second half for the benefit of the fans!3 points

Everyone knows that when any agreements between parties are put in place , theres always the chance of possible delay's , Everyone wants to hear that something positive is in the pipeline if it takes another couple of weeks to sort it out further then patience is the name of the game in this case2 points

What a contrast to last season’s, Dads Army walk on’. Wouldn’t put either in my team next season. Probably the reason they couldn’t be arsed to respect the supporters of many years.2 points

Paid 17, 11 & 7 in last 3 appearances at ashfield. Not saying I'd sign him but evidence he doesn't only go scunny2 points
-
Yeah I agree with everything you say he gets hard time for no real reason he averaged 4 points away this season and 6.24 at home which is a fairly normal difference between home and away averages I would say2 points

Absolutely well worth it. Both the Museum and the Wildlife Park are worth a visit on their own, let alone getting to see both.2 points

Yes definitely if he is available. Worrall can only ride at number 2 and he is too much of a luxury on his average for that. Schelin is more flexible for team positions.2 points

To be fair he wasn't having a bad season especially at Plymouth unbeatable there on his day2 points

The issue with Cardiff is hotel costs. People can justify the tickets as it's a one-off each season. Factor in the hotels, you can get a weeks holiday for the same. Last years ticket price + hotel for 3 (2ad - 1ch) of us currently looking at around £325-400. Unbelievably expensive for effectively 30mins of actual racing.2 points

Most promotions don't really care about the fans unless you're investing as fan or sponsor. Sad when you think of all the thousands of fans that have disappeared in the last 10 years or so.2 points

All looks a bit uninspiring doesn't it, what happened to the big stadium events in Speedway country's like Parken, Horsens, Ullevi, Stockholm etc.2 points

Good hour long chat with ex-Swindon Robin Barry in the Asda cafe in north Swindon today Some great stories about Fundin, Briggo, Mauger. Fundin was his favourite rider. Rode with Briggo at number 2 for Swindon at Wembley. against Lions. 4-2 in one heat, Briggs, Fundin, Duke. Said Pete Munday and Bernie Persson were very hard riders. Briggo aggressive, Mauger nice bloke. Was saying first went to a meeting at Swindon in 1962, Fundin, Briggs, Craven, Moore riding off 20 yard handicaps. Very bad injury in 1971 in Rhodesia affected career. Really nice guy. Rescued a Blunsdon turnstile for the Speedway Museum at Paradise Park.1 point

Sad news indeed. Dick was the sole survivor of the Bristol team that I saw at the first meeting I attended on August 19 1949 when he scored 6 points from 4 rides at reserve when Bristol rode against New Cross in front of a 22000 crowd at Knowle Stadium in the second leg of the National Trophy , I still have the programme. Dick was one of the finest riders ever to represent Bristol and was loyal right up to the closure in mid 1955. Only then did he move to another club Southampton. I imagine that during his spell at Bristol he would have drawn interest from the bigger clubs as he top-scored all over the country. He also scored 16 points for England in the Test Match at Harringay in 1952 in a very late call due to injuries.1 point

Unless there's some dramatic news about the Showgrounds future, i can't see anyone buying it.1 point

Progressive change over time? I think that'd be a good start as opposed to the zero changes they've made so far. I tell a lie, they did put a new stage in to present the riders. Which meant some fans couldn't see the racing at some tracks. Apart from that though they've done nothing.1 point

Got too be someone like Kenneth Bjerre as number 1 or 5, Niels tends too get injured frequently now. Need basso back, mpt if everything is sorted. Jenkins should get a spot if we can get another good reserve too let him develop further 1. Kenneth Bjerre 2. 3. Mpt 4.basso 5. 6. Hans (at a push but not overly fussed) 7. Jenkins would leave good numbers too fill in the gaps1 point

Ben Barker at 3. Danny King at 14 below Brennan. Think you need a better algorithm.1 point

Both teams have 7 riders each who will it seems be riding in the UK in 2023 so why not just run the 2 meetings next season with the same riders in each team that rode in the 2nd leg of the final .1 point
-
What i would like to see next season is meetings being called off due to 'drizzle', clubs folding halfway through their fixtures, an 8-week period of inactivity and a cup competition which is abandoned at the final stages. In short, i want the BSPA to remain in charge of running speedway1 point

Rory still had a lot to give. Retired too early for me. Yes he wasn’t getting any better but he sure wasn’t getting worse. there are worse riders to have out there. And he’s a great team man1 point
-
He said none of the riders liked him at first, believing no rider should have long hair and a beard. He still has long hair in ponytail. 74 now and still playing competitive table tennis. Clive Hitch, just turned 80, and Martin Ashby not in best of health.1 point

The more matches the more accurate the average, I believe it should be every single match including cup matches and playoffs.1 point

I, also, disagree with bringing back the bonus point particularly in the Championship because some tracks have too much home track advantage and young riders often don't ride away tracks as well as their home track ...... that's the reason it was got rid of surely?1 point

Thank goodness Barry is still alive...when I saw the topic heading I feared it was to announce another passing! Remember reading that it took a while for Bob Kilby to take a liking to him...Bob wasn't a fan of long hair apparently!1 point
