I can assure you that the Facenna's will not go down that road again, once bitten twice shy, sick of all the comments about Glasgow trying to buy the league, a lot of envious supporters from other clubs, who forget we were almost down and out until the Facenna's came on board,4 points

Well, he COULD make a start in the first meeting, slide gently off and they could have a facility for the rest of the year!3 points

To clarify, my comment was not in any way a dig at Glasgow, you pay well, but I wasn’t referring to that. I was simply saying that Chris Harris WILL be on a guarantee, just like virtually every other big rider in the Championship has been for the last few seasons. The ‘cap’ on it will be for payments from the club only. Bomber had a sponsor at Berwick this season who paid him a guarantee, in agreement with the club. This will be no different this year, you can’t stop a rider from getting sponsorship money after all. You can stop a club from paying a rider too much, but you can’t stop a rider from being paid too much.3 points

Guarantees are limited and points capped at £90 this year! There going to be very strict about it.3 points

Tell the gullible ones anything. Winning is a bonus that’s all it is all about earning potential. Trophies are more for the fans.3 points

Do you REALLY think the riders are in it for the trophies more than the money?…….Oh dear!…..3 points

Basically riders are self employed mercenaries and will go for the best deal for them which is probably fair enough. The only positives in having assets is you receive a loan fee and the value of the rider is offset on your BSPL bond.3 points

Really…depends on Vissing for me is key if last year was a one off then its a decent side but if Complin and Pijper are the reserves thats really really weak2 points

I wish everyone would just admit that they definitely don’t know what the deals are between riders and clubs. Pure supposition in all cases from people pretending to be in the know.2 points

I am sure if Bomber is back at Glasgow, he will make amends for his last time, when he came with unreliable equipment, he will not be on a guarantee so will need to earn his dosh by getting points, so people need to give him a chance to prove himself2 points

All looks well on paper but once Mulford has a couple of 3 ride nights the mood in camp will change. Im with the Shanes weak link camp and once he drops to reserve its a poor trapping 6&7. That said if all riders click this team will dish out some hammerings both home and away.2 points

You do know Santa is fictional, I’m looking for something more in the real world to sort out Bomber to anyone except us.2 points

I don't think they are all moaning. I am sure one or two might be motivated by nothing more than spite but for some - including me - it is a question of whether allowing a discount is justifiable given the parlous state of speedway's finances. Why should the average pensioner get a discount when their disposable income - according to at least one study - is higher than a non pensioner ? That's not an unreasonable point. You are right that it is a business decision and that alone. I'm not sure precisely what the discount is but, as an example, if one person currently paying £16 walks away, you have to ensure that four others pay £20 just to break even. That's a gamble that might well not be worth taking.2 points

Sometimes it is not the buying of the e tickets it is the extra price for each team vary from team to team. Also they have your details to sell on to other companies.2 points

What about Harris to Plymouth. That could work. Need to see if lewy can swing this for me.2 points

My biggest worry about James Shane’s is his own confession that he wasn’t fully fit and was going to give 2023 a miss on the speedway to get his body right again. Think it was a Speedway Star report a few weeks back. That could come back to bite both James & Redcar. Hope it’s not a repeat of Adam Roynon last year. Fingers crossed all is good.2 points

I am pretty sure trophies are the Icing on the cake but to have the icing first you need the cake2 points

Your reply is bang on, the riders need to make a living and even an extra £10 a point can make a massive difference over a season they also have to take travel time to their home track into consideration for example if a rider lived in Doncaster, rode for Sheffield in the PL and Scunthorpe in the Championship he gets to spend a lot more time with his family than if he rode for say Ipswich and Glasgow it also means fewer nights in hotels and less diesel in his van. Above all riders need to be happy on a home track that they ride well with a good promotion who will back them if their form drops. Its a dangerous sport with a short career and when the time comes to hang up the kevlars what matters most is how much money is in the bank not how many trophies are on the mantlepiece2 points

I supported IOW's decision to pull out of the NDL and I support it now. I would, however, very much like to see them rejoin. While all of what you have said is true regarding expenses and regulations, I don't think that IOW had an issue with any of it. The problem was that the members of the NDL were not allowed to make their own rules but had no say in regulations - principally a points limit - that were forced on them to their detriment and to the benefit of higher clubs who had no financial involvement in the NDL whatsoever. Had that not happened, I am firmly convinced that they would still be part of the BSPA fold. Selfishness, stupidity and incompetence therefore cost British Speedway its most innovative, forward thinking and customer focussed club, although I am certainly aware of at least one other occasion when the Warriors promotion were deeply unhappy about the way they were treated. As it is - and despite attempts to undermine their operation and sniping from some -they are doing pretty well. 2021 was hugely successful on and off track and, if 2022 did not hit the same heights, the report I got was that attendances were 'good'. For a club like Mildenhall, struggling to cope with the present set up, this surely could be an option.2 points

6.24 home, 4.00 away. But I guess it's easier to slag off riders if you make up the stats!2 points

Can’t believe the reaction to Brennan’s message..it’s just a look back at the season and leaving the Rising Star system..in no way does it read like a farewell…he will be back at Belle Vue2 points

The Scenario we have is this... Speedway at a brand new purpose built stadium... On the same site that has showcased the sport for decades... In a well populated town where pretty much everyone will have heard of Swindon Speedway at some stage... With a great many of them knowing exactly where it is and will at some stage have visited.... And also got decent crowds which were some of the best in the country... Isn"t "viable".... Yet.. Building a completely new track "somewhere" within a 45 minute radius of this well populated town with a tradition for following Speedway in numbers, seemingly WILL be "viable"... All very "strange" isnt it? Are the dogs still going by the way? As wasnt that the issue Swindon Speedway wouldnt be viable..? If so, I presume the dogs will go with them "somewhere" within a 45 minute radius too, as they appear to be fundamental to Speedways success..2 points

Because on paper they look red hot mustard at home just as they did this season. Tripe away and that would also likely continue. Certainly not saying they will win a bean but the majority would still rank them top side "on paper"1 point

I actually hope so with him he looks a real talent but he needs the perfect partner to take pressure of him and Complin isnt it1 point

On the Payment front I genuinely couldn’t give a monkeys how the riders are paid. I just want to see that when they pull up and zip up the Tigers Kevlar's on a Friday night at Ashfield that they give their all to win and entertain the fans in the Stands who have spent their hard earn cash to support the sport we all love.1 point

Like I've said before it's not just his previous run that bothers me with Harris. He's going to drop at least half a point from that average not having Berwick as a home track. And from a team building perspective means had to release Connor and it rumours are correct have complin at reserve instead!! At least as weak as Berwick and Oxford with that choice. Yes he may take pressure off Ben, and he may score better away but in my head can't see the logic1 point

Just laugh it off and agree with them it’s not really worth getting upset about it , It’s only human nature that some will find a negative from a positive and spin it whatever way suits them. Better just going with the flow and have a laugh about it haters are always going to find something to hate sad but true.1 point

We all know Barker comes with baggage and is a bit of a loose cannon at times but he's a reliable points scorer at reserve and can also do at job riding at number 2, the wheels kinda fell Ipswich's season when he got banned when he did, scored good points for the witches.1 point

So what if Shanes has been a 4.7-5.2 rider for the last 4 or 5 years? Not everyone can become a heat leader! For every youngster that improves someone else has to drop their average & Shanes has been able to keep pretty consistent!1 point

I know that but Roynon's fourth match was an ordinary league match - yet apparently it doesn't count1 point

For each track it is a business decision. I sincerely hope that those withdraw it do not have cause for regret it at the end of the season. What I don't get is why are those younger people who don't get the concession moaning about it ? At my place of work, I have been there 21 years. As such I get extra holidays, currently 30 days, a total that you got to in incremental stages. Now because they cannot afford wage rises they are upping everyone's holiday entitlement to 30 days over the next 2 years. I am no worse off, others are better off, why should I complain?1 point
