Phil morris to be applauded, skewered the opposition ,the decaying sport statement got right under his skin. CVS was quality as well rebutting the argument that wolves have folded because it wasn’t viable. first day goes to the good guys3 points

I'm told that Ipswich knocked that option on the head. As a result, R/R is on a mandatory 7 day concussion break.3 points

To be fair I don't think anyone can doubt Doyle when it comes to his committment to British speedway.3 points

However did we manage to race over 20 home meetings back in the 60s and 70s? Oh yes a wee drop of rain didn't deter riders back then.3 points

you can’t even think of your own response, just plagiarise the first bit of mine! I just answered you claiming I’d never experienced adrenaline to prove you wrong - again! You like claiming a lot of things that are bull but try and pass yourself off as the ‘expert’. Still, I should probably stop feeding the troll I’m off to enjoy more adrenaline!2 points

I was at Foxhall today & can confirm that there is damage to the pit gate, caused by a champagne cork hitting it last Thursday. Parts due to arrive 8am Friday morning2 points

I have to admit that when I read that Shane Parker had been voted the greatest Tiger of all time I laughed. I though how could the present generation of fans compare him to Jimmy Mac or Charlie Monk (my boyhood hero's) and then it dawned on me that the previous generation would have said the same about Tommy Millar and Ken McKinlay and their predecessors. Having been lucky enough to have been brought up on 60s and 70s speedway this old dinosaur finds kevlars and lay downs a bit 2nd class.2 points

He is generally poor at Ipswich. When he rode for us he was particularly poor. Didn’t get one of his brilliant rides all season. was never his fault though. Track or set ups2 points

I tend to agree, Emil and Danny would likely get more than Harris, Rew and Riss would probably get similar if they are used cleverly so overall probably safer bet.2 points

I think there's a lot more to it than that. The bikes are very different and much harder to ride in imperfect conditions, and promotions seem to be reluctant to run in front of rain affected crowds or pay expenses for rider's travel only for the meeting to be off anyway. Don't get me wrong, Brtish speedway has got itself in this hole. But if you are going to have play offs then the season needs organising much better than it has been recently.2 points

Your guess is actually very accurate. An early rain off is usually decided on the state of the current track and whether it can take the forecasted rain.1 point

As I mentioned on the Phil Morris thread full praise to Phil, he did a great job today outlining the case for speedway still being worth fighting for.1 point

It's OFF: Copied and Pasted off Facebook: MEETING POSTPONED We have made the difficult decision to postpone Wednesday night’s fixture 20th September against Redcar due to the weather conditions forecasted for tomorrow. A rescheduled date will be announced ASAP once we receive approval from BSPL & Redcar speedway All purchased tickets remain valid for the rescheduled fixture, or a full refund can be processed if you're unable to attend by emailing us.1 point

Why? If Blödorn isn't fit the Aces can use a guest. Including Hodder is primarily a gesture to enable him to experience the pits and atmosphere during an Elite meeting. If, unfortunately, the Aces are short of riders during the meeting, he might get an R/R ride.1 point

Oooh hit a wee nerve did I? Dont like people pointing out errors do you lol Does the adrenaline of winning a national title, or of representing your country in two different sports count? Will it do for starters? Or maybe navigating in a rally car in one of the stages of the Scottish rally a few years back? Ooops you appear to be wrong again, never mind.1 point

He said it wasn't rye house or Eastbourne. Also Swindon licence is on ice for now. He said new speedway track from what I recall. Make of that what you will.1 point

Ah then it's Berlin, the Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn-Sportpark (had to Google the name!) That was a good un, fair play.1 point

If we lose at Scunny on Friday that will affect the attendance more than the football imo.1 point

I thought Phil Morris spoke really well, very impressive. Interesting to hear there is a good chance of a new track staging speedway next year.1 point

Yep, even Ben Cook was due to guest for Aces last night after his big off last Wednesday.1 point

Especially on that ipswich page we both post on,,, some bloke was more or less trying to start a fight with me the other day,,, so I put the rule up for him to read,,, and still no apology,,, the admin then removed it all1 point

I think ippo shoukd rr in the first leg. Would get 7 or 8 points rather than taking a risk on Harris.....1 point

Good to see real trophies being presented, not some offcut pieces of plastic.1 point

Guests and using alternative race nights would solve the fixture problems,it’s only the racing that most fans are there to see nowadays.Just give every rider a plastic trophy as they have all probably guest at some time during the season.1 point

Web site confirms Chris Harris.. It's a pity we couldn't have had Scott Nicholls.1 point

More reality than theory: allegedly AEPG had discussions with Panthers owners and the outcome of such meetings was that the club could not afford a break even rent. Now if, for instance, Rick Frost and his fortunes was in charge and called their bluff, would AEPG say OK, crack on in 2024? I doubt it? They'd just think up another barrier.1 point

I was always under the impression that Brian was " a signed & sealed " job with Coventry the minute he lifted the title at Brandon.1 point

With respect, this 2024 thing is getting silly now. I respect people are upset, and might of had a drink at this late hour, and i sympathise, but1 point

I see your point, but it's like asking a Tottenham fan to support Arsenal. Yes it's the same sport in the same league, but it's not "the same".1 point

HIs first club in the UK was at Newcastle. He wanted experience in the UK so Richard Bailey bought him for a 6 week spell I think at the end of the 1993 season after winning the World U21 Championship. Moved on to Coventry the following year. A brilliant style he was always meant to be really good especially with his style and attitude.1 point

As amusing as that is to watch riding around in celebration after the meeting is not an official session, you may as well throw them out for wearing shorts and a t-shirt between sessions1 point

We always laugh as Redcar fans that we can get home earlier from an away match at Scunthorpe than we can a home one at Redcar. They certainly rattle through a meeting.1 point

As I said, most sport today is controlled by TV and sponsors. It is a rule, an UNDERSTANDABLE rule, and all the riders know of the rule.1 point

Unfortunately in today’s society vermin being vermin this is a worrying trend. Hopefully catch the culprits and give them a good boot in the haw maws before throwing the key away.1 point

SAVE COVENTRY SPEEDWAY MEDIA INFORMATION E-mail: pressoffice@savecoventryspeedway.com THE Planning Inquiry hearing into Brandon Stadium gets underway on Tuesday September 19. This follows on from the decision of Rugby Borough Council's Planning Committee last November, in which they unanimously refused the Brandon Estates planning application. The developers then appealed that decision, and the inquiry will now take place over an 8-day period featuring speakers and witnesses from all parties. There will be representatives from Brandon Estates, the Council (as they defend their decision to refuse the application) and from the Save Coventry Speedway & Stox Campaign Group as a Rule 6 party. We will be providing witnesses from both speedway and stock car racing to give evidence on our behalf, and they will also be subject to cross-examination. The process will be detailed and will cover a wide range of topics, and a final decision is not expected until several weeks after the inquiry. However, the proceedings can all be followed via a livestream and we are sure many supporters will wish to make use of this facility. The link for the session on Tuesday September 19 (from 10am) is as below, and subsequent days' streams will be available from the Rugby Borough Council YouTube channel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Quacfny1d3c We believe we have prepared thoroughly for this vital inquiry, and we look forward to hearing the evidence from all sides and having the opportunity to state our case in support of the Planning Committee’s original decision.1 point
