Why doesn’t he give a full and true explanation of every stage of events from his side start to finish and also go through legal proceedings for said loss of earnings if he’s done no wrong? Instead he’s acting more of a arrogant to55er by that statement he’s put out.3 points

Shame his ban wasn’t until 1st September when transfer window is shut. A ban until June is a Joke and the way he’s mocked it including the governing body and the testing g service is surely close to brining the sport into disrepute which should be another ban. Hopefully promoters stay well clear as can’t imagine trust after lying though his teeth is high on his agenda3 points

Well there was certainly no contrition or apology in his rather crass Twitter post3 points

Not really. Cocaine is the most widely used recreational drug after cannabis.2 points

I'm sorry but even if that was true you would pull out of riding whilst it passed out your system surely?2 points

That must be a spoof account surely? Cannot believe anyone would put out such a response... If it was him, then those in charge should treble the extraordinarily lenient ban...2 points

Butterfield doesn’t realise it yet, the key to his development plans is held by the Speedway club. He will have to speak to the consortium at some point.2 points

Would of had to of been a very quick agreement to a meeting even taking place let alone any deal to extend so cannot see that being the announcement, There has been talk on FB of a date being arranged to conduct a "protest" walk in Peterborough , with advice to get the tshirts , banners and flags ready So my guess its time to get your warm winter coat and suitable footware sorted .1 point

Really? Boxall has previous and it was immediately after Cardiff weekend. It would seem strange, to me at least, if they were the only two who were on it.1 point

They won't be able to give any commitment without a written agreement from the stadium I'd imagine as there'd be financial implications if they subsequently withdraw The major issue with waiting is that they can't build a team and anyone decent will have signed elsewhere, he mentions this as a concern in the Star1 point

There's some well intentioned posts here, but most suggestions are not workable. To suggest testing every rider at every meeting is not only unaffordable and impractical, it defeats the whole object. These riders got busted not because they knew they would get tested, it's because they didn't know they would be tested. That's why it has to be random, so riders know it could happen at any time. Plus, just testing at meetings/competitions in sport is not enough. There is obviously wholesale testing at the Olympics, but anyone who turns up the Games with drugs in their system is not only a cheat, but a complete idiot too. The real cheating is done beforehand away from the testers, months ahead in training. That's why out-of-competition random testing is key. Yes, random testing at meetings should be part of it, but better to have random tests away from meetings for those with bad intentions. I have to say, I also don't think drugs in speedway is a big a problem as some are making out. I don't think there's any clear evidence that drug taking is widespread nor is it clear it even improves or impairs performance in the sport. There's been a handful of cases. But that's it. If folk are looking for a time when drugs were more common in the sport, probably the 80s when the Morans, Bobby Schwartz, Gary Guglielmi, Steve Payne, Michael Lee, Gary Havelock, Mitch Shirra all got into trouble. I think their cases, just like these, were a case of young men doing something daft with social drugs. Just like they do in wider society. Of course they should all be sanctioned because sport only works when its a level playing field, but let's not get too carried away.1 point

The article says they've been told they have to declare by then so presumably they'll stick to that. Late declaration would be no good to Brum either as anyone decent would be signed up already by other teams and Brum have been in that boat before1 point

It has been said we are looking at land owned by the council, site is near I54 for sure.1 point

Yes most of the derelict industrial sites are between Monmore and the railway station with virtually zero housing to worry about. Who owns them is another question altogether, it's probably not Wolverhampton Council that's for sure. Presumably a commercially owned site is unlikely to be affordable for Wolves unless it's offered on reduced terms1 point

I would think obtaining planning permission for stox is already dead in the water. As for any covenant, there is apparently absolutely no evidence of it - if it ever existed - seems to be an urban myth.1 point

What ever way you look at it,it is a big financial gamble for the Promotion given previous history.1 point

Does there still need to be a track Doctor? I know there used to be years ago. If so, 2 random riders from each team at every meeting would be a bigger deterrent. The initial pee test can't be very expensive. Use the riders that fail (£1500 fine) to pay for the expensive lab test. Could that work?1 point
-
1 person to test 14 riders? That'd be fun, you keeping them in a locked room? You'd need several people all accredited drug testers then the ability to log and deal with all the samples. Multiply that by every single meeting held in the UK and it's a huge expense1 point

I wonder what the odds are Corbally wanting to re-negotiate the lease? With their main income going and the Olympic village white elephant across the road, the chances of development are slim.1 point

Wheels is being levelled and lots of other land round it bought up. Strong local suspicion is its Knighthead, the new Owners of Bitminghan City Fc. They are in conversations with City Council to take on the site, pay for decontamination and build a 62500 roofed arena for sports, concerts etc including a secondary athletics stadia for major events and ladies football etc Thats a 3 to 5 year plan. Wheels as a stox venue won't exist if not already gone in reality.1 point
-
Can understand the logic. However ARC have made a long term decision to move their operation to a far more salubrious venue over which they have long term control and potential. Corbally are sat on a piece of land in a prime location with development opportunities where the leaseholder has walked and the sub tenant cannot take over financially as the leaseholder. There is no other credible leaseholder. The Council have been bankrupted by central Government underfunding and 2 decades of mismanagement locally by both political parties and a local Mayor who is just interested in photo opportunities and his own reelection which is unlikely A perfect storm sadly with Speedway as the biggest loser as the other parties will most likely get what they want in the medium term. Speedway gets nothing and Mr Tolley loses a lot of money and a lot of effort.1 point

Any ban they receive, is back dated to the day of the offence. So it depends on when they were caught. A 10 month ban, would still only work in part, if your caught in March. Needs changing .1 point

The Leicester track might have dried out by the time his ban is up. So, he won't miss any home meetings!1 point

It’s not just the other riders at risk, what about the drive home and all the other road users who could potentially be injured or worse..1 point
-
Don't think they need mass testing, they know exactly who they want to catch, that's why their success rate is so high.1 point

I’m delighted at this ,open top bus booked before the end of season dance. Have to hope the dance doesn’t get rained off.1 point

So your proposal is that all riders pay for their own drugs test at all meetings. The reserves and similar lower end earners are going to love that suggestion, especially those that cant afford or do drugs!1 point
-
Unfortunately costs do come into it. How would you propose it be paid for? A levy on every ticket to fund it?1 point
-
Following the tests that have been failed by riders in recent seasons I feel the time has come for EVERY rider to pee in a pot and be tested at EVERY meeting. Before anyone starts talking about the costs of testing I say the costs does not come into it, the health and safety of every other rider, spectator and official far out weighs any cost involved. The cost of a test is nothing compared to the value of someone's life.1 point

Tbh, is anybody actually surprised at the statement and the punishments? Boxhall has previous and in the eyes of the BSPA, just another rider. Worrall on the other hand is one of the better riders and a heat leader at most clubs, do we think the the lenient punishment has anything to do with losing a 'top' rider? Morris must be feeling very narked and hard done by with these punishments, tho his ban should have been a yardstick for Boxhall and Worrall.1 point

There should be ZERO tolerance in these type incidents. We’re not talking carpet bowls here we’re talking a sport where riders suffer life changing accidents and sometimes death. You get caught with those substances in your system, go find another job!!1 point
-
Obviously penalties as well as punishing should represent a significant deterrent to others, not convinced such a lenient sentence will do this,(and that was after representing himself!! If he employed professional legal help might have even got off!!)1 point

Leaving aside whether this actually trancends into a return of the Hammers and the whys and why nots, if it were to happen with half decent facilities, it has the potential to be a very well supported club and likely far better supported than previously i would think. Why i say this is it will be the only club in the south east . Since closure at Lakeside Rye , Eastbourne and Kent have gone. i know Iwade are operating as Kent but with Lakeside operating in Premier or Championship fans likely to go there instead. When Rye was Saturdays a few years ago in Premier they were getting decent crowds, c 1,500 - 2,000, and the people i spoke to there were coming from far and wide. At that time there were 3 other tracks in the south. I would be very optimistic if they can get Hammers back on track and sensible stadium facilities here or elsewhere in borough. UP THE HAMMERS ! WOULD BE GREAT TO SEE THEM BACK.1 point

Yes, in the history of sport, this was a fantastic achievement which probably compares with....the Nag's Head Chigwell's unforgettable third place in the third division of the 1983 West Essex Tuesday darts league. Awarded because their playoff opponents were too pi**ed to even hit the board, but a magnificent achievement nonetheless1 point

Based on dealing with him as an away rider for 11 season and a home rider this season I have never found Lawson to be a rider that arses around at the start. Maybe its a weak start marshal that is the problem.1 point

I can pretty much garentee SD will pick pretty much all of the riders. I've spoken to him a few times in the past and he always says every rider he picks is his choice. Could be different in Berwick but doubt it1 point

Bad day for Leicester fans as I’ve heard that if it ends up only being 1 league in British Speedway, Stewart Dickson will snub Leicester to focus on Berwick.1 point
