  1. And most are there because it’s their team not because it’s speedway, it’s tribalism and it’s the very foundation of any team sport but the concept is lost on British speedway

  2. My guess is (sorry to repeat previous) that the drainage itself isn't as much the problem. it's more about being able to empty the sub-track tanks if the vehicles required to be filled with and take away water, and those required to do track maintenance, would need to be driven onto and along a track which is still very soft from the huge amount of recent rain. We wouldn't want a speedway match to be run, with riders having to go either side of a marooned lorry partway along the back straight. The way the money was raised to finance the building of Beaumont Park may have been questionnable, but it was fully privately-funded and didn't have the benefit of any provision from public funds. While it's true that the land it occupies is owned by the local council, the stadium also had to be fitted into a tight space, with restricted vehicular access around the perimeter, especially to the north where the perimeter is an industrial estate. Almost every year, work has been carried out over the winter to try to improve the track and drainage. But sometimes you can't overcome the effects of Mother Nature, so this decision is completely reasonable and sensible.

  9. It's only because we had a months worth of rain in 24 hours... there's never been a match cancelled at Leicester because of rubble poking through the track

  19. I think you have a good chance mate, you are better out of the starts and all it takes is for Fricke and Lawson to pop out in heat 1, get something out of heat 2 and you can get on a roll, your top 4 will all be better than at BV, for us we need to get out the starts better and hope our top 4 can take points off Leicester heat leaders as our reserves and Norick could struggle, we have to avoid last places, as you say difficult but certainly doable.

  24. I don't understand that personal comments toward Abi. Comment regarding her professional skills, fine, getting personal, you can do better than that. As others have mentioned, directors will be telling her what guff to come up with, directors came up with the stupid #'s, is she going to say 'no - I'll do it my way' absolutely not, she probably appreciates her job. It's easy to switch off for 2 seconds when she's talking if she's ruining the experience for you.

  26. Totally disagree Danny to be fair scores the points that you would expect. However it’s not all about that is it? The biggest issue is when the chips are down he either goes missing or makes a novice error with riding lines. The semi final at Leicester being a prime example, on a comfortable 5-1 & then falls. Also can’t team ride to save his life I’ve seen more team riding from Nicholls & Brennan in their witches appearances this season than King has managed in the last 5 years.

  27. 100%agree regarding the mechanical knowledge of how the bikes works is big part of being able to make the correct changes on set ups. Many of the young Brits do not have that IMO.

  31. I think Bomber brings something different at home against Oxford. When we lost in August at home I felt our top 3 gave far too much space and respect to Masters and Nicholls which wasn't given back that night! something I hope won't happen again. With Bomber he will push/nudge and I think Masters and Nicholls will struggle to contain him.

  34. Good point, hadn't thought of it like that before. For me, I think Ellis is still on a bit of a false average after a couple of injuries disrupted his season, plus he has about 10 years on King. Ellis could easily up his average in 25, King will do well to maintain his I think... so if it came to a choice I would opt for Ellis, but totally get your point

  38. Unlikely... we all know Poole will want the 2nd leg and will do anything to arrange that 😜

  39. I'd be astonished if Oxford don't have Boughen & Killeen as their reserve pairing. It wouldn't make sense for them to weaken a play-offs challenging team, unless they were building for next season!

  40. Hence the reason that my first post which got the 'yawn' response, leading to my reply that you quoted, specifically mentioned the 'normal' league season. I was simply pointing out that our number 5 had missed nearly as many league matches as yours had, so add in the 2 Jack missed and it is the same number. I fully appreciate the fact that you lost Emil when you needed him most, and I don't think there is a single honest speedway fan in the country that would argue with the fact that you had the strongest 1-7 and would have probably won the double this season, but as I and others have said many times, it was always a gamble on those 2 staying fit and available and you ended up with the perfect storm. Yes, that is a lot of injuries in a season, almost the same as Sheffield in 2023 when they won the playoffs and lost in the KO Cup Final, but apparently we injured our riders on purpose so that we could use 'horses for courses' guests and cheat the system. 😉😂

  42. Well, you need a heat winner to get a heat advantage! BV had 13, so were unlikely to lose. You could see Leicester settling for 3-3s in at least a couple of races, e.g. when Hagon got into second place - now the trick for BV at Leicester is to do similar, i.e. avoid last places.
