  1. And sadly that is true! With my Poole hat on Brennan is replaced by Lewi, Brennan is the much better rider, Ben Cook is replaced by Zach or Anders, Ben is a much better rider than those. Poole had to lose 7 points which I don't dispute that is the rules made by all clubs at the AGM. Admission will increase again in 2025 I'm sure for all clubs as costs have increased. But anyone that tells me the team coming to tapes in 2025 and the one that finished 2024 at Poole is a better product are living in a different universe. It is a weaker product on offer, I will still go but please don't tell me its the same or better as it isn't! Back to Glasgow if the team is as predicted, they will start as favourites for 2025. Entertaining team that will put a show on for the fans on a great race track. Good luck in 2025

  2. Always knew a Ben Basso average reduction to a 5 was on the cards.

  3. Glasgow will be running a NDL level Glasgow select team in 2025 with the focus being entering the League in 2026. Andrew Meredith & Gordon Mcdonald will be the team managers, and will be running 'friendlies', individuals & challenge events. After each event all riders from both teams will be given track time after the meeting to allow them to work on things that they may have struggled with while racing. Glasgow will be looking at running on a Sunday for NDL level racing ,with Glasgows track staff running practise days to help with the team funding. Where Glasgow has fallen behind in youth development, 2025 should see a significant change to that.

  6. Kye Thomson returns for 2025. One I wouldn’t of been overly fussed if he was moved on this winter.

  7. Apologies for that, wasn't my finest hour. Not in a sulk, just needed to get away for a bit. When an internet forum starts to affect your mood/mental state/health etc it's time to have a break. Back now refreshed and looking forward to 2025. Merry Christmas! 🎅

  8. Inferior stadium really, I’m guessing you haven’t been up lately if at all.

  9. A stadium inferior to Poole,a track maybe better than Poole,a promotion clearly no where near as good as Poole ( trophies titles ) and supporters who turn up in more numbers at Poole, why have a go at Poole, don't label all Poole supporters with the same brush as I have no axe to grind with any club supporters and I have said before I wish all teams were the same would make all matches closer. Why can't your team attract better riders the Italian bloke is no no1 and Barker is no no 5 is it down to money or location you seem pretty knowledgeable why are Plymouth never challenging for trophies ?

  10. We all care at Poole, very happy to have Richard, nobody misses Basso.

  11. Why is everyone so excited for the team to be announced when we all know the 1-7 and have done for at least a month?

  12. Now that is a bit of good news assuming it is able to go ahead. It's the first small step to reaching the target of an NDL place in the not too distant future. No matter what is chosen to call the competitions in the interim period it is competitive track time that counts for youngsters at that level. The more the better really and practise time too. 👍

  13. No brainer. Jason is 10 years older than Brady so naturally his remaining shelf life is limited and only going one way. In their head to heads in ‘23 Brady won 9 to 5. Emil is also older and it only takes things to change internationally for him to revert to the rider that completed 1 UK season out of 18. Jack is just not a Belle Vue kind of rider and wouldn’t fit in despite Marks love for his fellow Aussies.

  14. Imagine buying a new silencer, then putting it into your garage for 4 years until you're allowed to use it lol!

  15. Disappointed no out and out number one.

  16. Always great to have a strong number 1.😝 BTW you have to congratulate Plymouth for running a NDL team in 2025. Gladiator fans will be well pleased to be able to watch both their teams of similar strength.😂

  17. Reading on the Edinburgh 2025 Forum that 17 year old Max James may not be back at Edinburgh in 2025. Could this be the temporary 2 pointer for Poole until July ?. Rode 2 matches at Poole for Edinb in 2024 - 9 rides with a 4 ride av of 2.22 or 2.67 with bonus. Would indicate he has lots of improvement in him as only 18 in July, plus could do a job at Poole. Saw plenty of encouraging comments on him last season in his first Champ season plus he did well (especially his away av at Leicester NDL team. Anyway an interesting possible development unless signing elsewhere.

  19. That's fair enough, apology accepted and appreciated 👍 We can go at it again in Spring 2025 when Mr Klindt struggles with the cold again lol. Looks a solid Stars team and hopefully better times ahead ⭐ All the best and Merry Christmas to you too 🎅

  20. I know what it is supposed to say. But what it says is that silencers have to be at least 4 years old to be used. So anything newer than 2021 can't be used.

  21. Only £13 saving on a season ticket, over paying on the gate. Not much of an incentive to buy one imho.

  22. Glasgow. Poole and Glasgow traded Lawson and Basso over as assets. Looks like we gained the most out of it so far.

  23. Other way round. Lasse would’ve loved to be back.

  24. We often celebrate how lucky we were in 2023. Losing Charles to injury due to our play off jinx saw us covering a rider who had scored paid 19 that year at Foxhall only to get 3 from his rides. We still only missed out in the last half of a glorious final heat. I best play the lottery with luck like that.

  25. It will be at the start of the season as normal..

  26. The article in this week’s Speedway Star would suggest that he only intends to ride in the Championship next season.

  27. Belle Vue wouldn't have been in the final this year if there were no injuries to other teams top riders (could be argued). If Sheffield had Tai then they would have more than likely won over the 2 legs. Belle Vue weren't as good when Brady was missing either so that would be a valid argument. Same could be said about Jason and Emil missing.

  28. Are people seriously suggesting that because Ipswich were the best team this season (when fully fit) they shouldn’t bother building up to the points limit? LOL. Of course fans of other clubs would say that. So Brennan is available to replace a reserve and you say “nah we don’t need to” and build nearly a point under the limit? 😂😂😂

  29. How much of a difference does it make though? If it's gonna be all the same riders in league & trophy, will travelling expenses not be the same? May mean less visiting fans, but I don't think they'd expect many at Development league level. I guess they could always hold junior challenge matches against Workington, Edinburgh & Redcar to judge crowd levels?

  30. 1) The conversation rate is as above Prem x 1.5 2) The most recent average is used, so the 2024 Prem average is converted. As soon as a rider rides one match they revert to their Championship rolling ave. Last year rolling averages were from 2022-2024, if the 3 year rule continues, then next year it'll be 2023-2025 matches that count. If this is the case, the 2022 Champ matches will be ignored & the rider would get a new average after 8 matches.

  31. Run an NJL side and have built a training track on the infield. So who knows if can get enough local talent might well do in future

  32. Good point lisa,I think it's because Glasgow speedway stadium, track, promotion and supporters are just better and nicer.

  33. Yes, why are people OK with Glasgow not doing NDL but if Poole don't, it's the end of the world!

  34. Heard the news a couple of days ago that Malcolm Brown died recently (I think it was end of September). For those who don't know, Brownie was from east London and rode for the Lions in the late 60's and early 70's, and was a bit of a character. He went on to promote speedway in southern Africa, own night clubs, and worked as a singer on Caribbean cruise ships. He moved to Florida in the late 1980's I think. I don't recall having seen any mention of this news on the Leicester Speedway website, but news sometimes travels slowly, and there were other things going on at the time. RIP one of the great Lions.

  35. I think that team would be worse than last seasons! Covatti isn't a number 1 and Barker is not a number 5.

  36. Good to see you at non league match yesterday catalan, great afternoons entertainment, over a thousand there and most of them would prefer non league to prem league! But that outlook somehow doesn't apply in speedway ??

  37. If that's the case why do Poole fans not support nl racing?

  38. Have to disagree with your opinion of Lawson, he has a higher average than the 3rd heat leaders at both Ipswich & Belle Vue, yet only a "solid engine room rider"? He may go downhill, but also may not. Many riders can keep performing as they get older these days. As for Bomber & NKI I agree they're not "reliable double points scorers" but that's the beauty of the Lynn team, they have 6 riders who could score double figures, their riders don't need to do it in every match.

  39. If you could guarantee that every team would stay injury free then we SHOULD be winning because Ipswich have the best team on paper but we had the best team on paper this year and look what happened. Speedway is a bit of a lottery in that regard. It isn’t like football where you have a squad of 25 players and bring a quality player in when one of your first teamers pulls a hamstring and it makes little difference to the team structure. All it takes in this sport is to lose one of your important heatleaders and it completely derails your season. Belle Vue had issues with Kurtz mid season, but were at full strength when it mattered and took advantage of other’s misfortunes. The same will be the case next year. You need a bit of luck to reach September when the pots are handed out with your full side still intact. IF Ipswich enter the play offs with the same 1-7 that starts the season, then we’ll win it.

  40. He's gonna say that though isn't he? It's a very generic thing to say when you've signed for a team. He's not gonna say 'despite the team looking sh ite I decided to sign anyway'

  41. His Dad put on Facebook that he didn’t have a team in the championship or NDL , which is incredible as I thought he was a good prospect . I think his point scoring proves he is ready for a championship reserve spot, he’s too good for NDL only.

  46. bit of a negative way of looking at it its a good thing that there will be more opportunities for NL standard/ aged riders part of being a speedway rider or any motorsportsperson for that matter is travelling, just one of those things

  47. Jim Airey definitely left the sport over here too early came to Sheffield a great no 1 then bang went home to Australia and never returned
    1 point
  48. Actually I agree with your answer, SJA. But can you see the point I was making? Certain clubs make no contribution to the NDL, but they want the league and the riders to be there and available to them, when it suits them.
    1 point
  49. Correct, it’s a good job it is included with Sky Q, I certainly wouldn’t be paying extra for Discovery + just for the speedway and don’t get me started on Eurosport.
