  1. probably why they were losing so much money on it as they couldn’t get big crowd even at those prices.

  2. For the last 9 years we have been wanting a GP at this wonderful racetrack, for this year our wishes were finally fulfilled. I was concerned when it was then announced there would be 2 nights, why do we need 2 nights, no other GP has had 2 nights not only will it make it more expensive for everyone (nearly double price) but anyone not local would need a (expensive hotel). The ticket prices have now been announced and I’m dismayed. Last year’s ticket prices for SoN were bad enough and showed by the empty extra grandstand, thought they would have learnt from that but no they made it even more expensive! One night price is expensive enough but for 2 nights there is little discount. It’s depressing. Will I be there, yes I will reluctantly pay it but I only live 5 minutes away. Thousands won’t be paying it now though. To make matters worst for Belle Vue this will affect crowds levels for the next few months as those local who do choose to pay it will pick and choose the league meetings they go to as can’t afford both.

  3. Good point Iain - I've asked the guys to get it updated asap! re: MJJ - he arrives on Saturday, will be at media day Sunday, all set for debut on Monday. Meeting on Monday vs Leicester will be streamed live on BrummiesTV - £12.99 available to purchase via https://www.brummies.tv/

  4. To put it into context I’m at the Le Mans 24 hours the same weekend as Belle Vue and a general admission week ticket for that event is £129. Those prices released today for Speedway GP are ridiculous.

  5. I live about the same distance from Cardiff as I do Belle Vue. The appeal of Cardiff had clearly declined for many but I carried on going to the end and never missed one. The sub-standard line up and the comical points scoring system was already enough for me to decide I wouldn’t be doing another GP anywhere in a hurry.

  6. How about a wild card for Artem Laguta one night and Emil Sayfutdinov on the other?

  7. Lol if you can get a seat. You'll have the whole row to yourself. If you sit in the East Stand you can have the whole stand to yourself 🤣

  9. Its got disaster written all over it with those prices. I have never seen anything like it for a speedway event. Be cheaper to fly to Poland for a GP.

  10. Those prices are ridiculous compared to the other events in the series. Yes it's a far better track than Cardiff and far superior racing but the facilities are not as good. For the SON there were very large queues for food/drink outlets, no running water in the toilets in the South Stand, one of my tickets did not work. If these two events do not sell out then whoever is responsible for those prices should really have a good look at themselves. People will vote with their feet. Such a shame as it should be an event that we are all getting excited about not moaning about the pricing structure.

  11. I hope all those people that wouldn't pay £23 for a ticket at Cardiff are crying into their Hotpots 😭

  13. That's right it was Jenkins or Flint that were wanted, dependant on who Birmingham was going to pick Lynn would have picked the other. They are the best 2 rising stars in the league, and the team that was supposedly to have the last pick ended up with one of them. Now most people would have expected those 2 riders to have been picked in the first 3 picks at least. This just shows it isn't done how the BSPA lead us to believe. Why they don't just say it how it is.

  14. Sheffield are, rather cheekily, plugging their season tickets as 12 meetings costing less than 2 meetings elsewhere 👏😂

  16. They wanted Jenkins. Problem was he wanted Ipswich. Makes a mockery of the so called picking order though.

  17. I don't like the ticket prices, but anyone thinking they are not going to sell out very quickly is wrong. The capacity at NSS is tiny and there are tens of thousands of speedway fans in the UK.

  18. Why should he , hes a good bloke who's never held back on here in the past. He says it how is is , shame more people involved with clubs don't these days! I heard a whisper he is getting the famous caravan club back together as well. Main Man, Pav Pavitt, Stoj and Henning Loof !

  19. Its a bit more to pay than I was expecting but I will be paying it if I can get a seat, will not pay that for standing though. Works out at £107.50 for one day, I paid £85.00 for Cardiff about three years ago so with rising costs and a much smaller crowd than Cardiff its to be expected to a certain extent. This is offset by getting a cheap hotel deal so works a bit better.

  20. ...and don't forget it's possibly the weakest GP line-up ever in terms of competitiveness to be World Champion, with the 2 main challengers not included and riders picked based on nationality rather than performance

  27. £14.99 was a very fair price to watch the meeting on BSN, If you went to the meeting then you'd pay that money just for parking, programme and something to eat/drink. Don't forget that Sky/TNT charge £20+ to watch high profile boxing matches.

  29. I always found as a kid that the star was a brilliant read due to not having the internet at the time. Every Thursday evening it would be full of news that you didn't know about, used to find out about signings every week in it even for my home team. As soon as we got internet on our computer, the star became a waste of time and money as everything in there was already on the internet. It will have interviews and maybe pictures not seen online but all the main news is already out there by the time its released. I do think the star is a great product though. Well presented, neat and tidy. Well it was the last time I seen one. This forum used to be alight during the winter back in the day. I was just browsing various sub-forums on here then and to see it so quiet is quite sad. The main forum on here now is the General Discussion forum, which I think says it all and even that hasn't had a post for over a day. Very sad to see as even though it has its faults, its been the center of the British Speedway fans community for over 20 years. Hopefully picks up during the season.

  32. I would assume by now BSN have done enough of these PCM, Ben Funds and rider testimonials to know their audience figures at said price will cover costs, offer the host track or rider some return and also generate a small profit. Personally I dont see how anyone can complain at the the price charged.....considering it was 28 quid to get in plus fuel to get there. An entire family can watch the meeting in the warmth of their home at around 10% of what it would have cost the for the whole family to attend in person. The question to be asking is not if the viewing figures stacked up but how many customers stay at home and watch BSN's coverage because it offers far more value for money than attending in person.

  34. I wouldn't say it's a fair comparison personally. There's a reason why Optus can offer more for less, they've got more people willing to pay an amount for a popular sport and will gain a lot more in sponsorship than BSN could ever wish to. Speedway is such a niche sport. You're not going to get anyone other than speedway fans willing to pay to watch a live stream and as a smaller venture BSN I'd doubt they'd have the pockets to operate at a loss. The fairest comparison in my eyes to speedway in the UK is ice hockey, although attedance wise ice hockey does tend to garner more interest in the top league, but much like speedway in this country it is a niche product- amongst every side in the EIHL they all offer live streams of their matches and you won't find a single team offering anything below £15 per match. So it lines up just about right imo and I think it's a fair price for what's on offer- ultimately if you bring down the cost by £2-3 it's not really enough to entice new customers. Bring it down by £5 and yes, I think you'd get a lot more viewers and people willing to buy in, but you'd also devalue the live expirence and would see a lot less people showing up for the meeting in person which actively needs to be avoided.

  35. What an absolute piss take those prices are if they are confirmed. Even half of what has been posted on here is a rip off. There will be nobody there ! Is the BV stadium an upgrade on Cardiff? Absolutely not, doesn't compare. Just because the racing maybe better (not guaranteed, have seen some bang average meetings from BV), you can't be charging those kind of prices. Whoever is responsible for those prices needs to hang their heads in shame. As I stated yesterday on the other BV topic, its the prices that are keeping fans away. 15 quid for a season opening stream last night was a joke. I still bought it as was bored, but many wouldn't be in a position to and certainly won't be able to afford the prices at BV for the GP's. People have been saying it for years and years, speedway for what it is these days is not worth the money you pay. People vote with their wallet and its a fact hence the low crowds. There needs to be a complete restructure with prices. If riders need to take pay cuts, so be it. Most people during their careers will have had to of taken pay cuts and moving to jobs with less wages, I know I have numerous times. Its life. Speedway shoots itself in the foot again.

  40. That’s not his job or responsibility. He’s riding in the biggest, best paid league in the Speedway World. Why would he travel to other countries for peanuts. He owes nothing. We no longer have any entrepreneurs to entice him for any reason. It’s a promoters job to promote. His English is understandable. I’m sure he’s very happy what he’s doing.

  41. Why should he? He doesn’t ride in the UK. He’s a super star in Poland. His country. What exactly would you like him to do?

  42. Lets face reality and put it as it is. The Speedway Star caters for the 50-70+ age bracket. With 2 articles on Anders Rowe - thought I had early signs of dementia after reading first article and the a few days later realising their were 2 articles. Nothing wrong with the West Ham memories, but to include details of Australia test match in same issue? Might be good reads, but for which age group? How can British Speedway Improve- Well lets deliver a magazine that entices a new generation to buy it as something is in it that is actually relevant to the new youth generation.
