  1. In the history of speedway, putting musielak as a tactical to replace voulas instead of MJJ instead of rew or Hulme in the next heat must be the stupidest team manager decision ever

  2. For those planning to tune in via BSN tonight... I have checked and BSN have confirmed that they will be showing the Billy Sanders champion of the meeting heats as part of their coverage. Good news šŸ˜€

  3. Great that there’s a tribute to Billy. But all the excitement on here about the second half heats!!! They used to be standard fare, and a damned good watch too. Go back to 13 heats and a full second half, including juniors’ heats.

  6. Good interview with Criag Cook in this weeks Speedway star talking about his on and off track issues over the last few years and how he’s trying to find stability for both. Good open and honest interview from him which he didn’t have share with everyone but fair play to him for doing so.

  8. Poole are 2nd Division with the pick of riders given their great sponsors, let's see what you would do with all the restrictions on riders for team building in the Premiership on Monday nights! Your promotion can't hack it, your fans don't do Monday night speedway LOL

  10. This is going to be a good meeting. MJJ vs Emil and Doyle will be worth the ticket price on its own.

  11. I think it’s a gimmick and despite the spin from WBD/FIM it still isn’t being shown on mainstream channels only Apps. The new knockout qualifying is obviously only about speed- i fear riders will be using ā€œ special engines ā€œ will which only last qualifying/ sprint race Which is just plain daft.

  12. Marson is a poor rider, we just have to cope with 6 riders at the moment and it was boring for some partly because the Pirates have a much better team, Plymouth looked poor and partly because we won which doesnt suit some peoples agenda.

  13. I'm not sure why BluPanther laughed at my Brexit comment. The reason why Visas are required is purely down to Brexit. Riders from EU countries used to be able to turn up and ride because they had a right to earn a living in a fellow EU member country. Now the UK treats them the same as riders from any other country, which means the appropriate Visa for their type of employment. It could be there's a long lead time for them to be approved, or it could be that Brum didn't apply in a timely manner.

  14. To be fair on his showing tonight I am almost a convert - offset by his poor showing at Sheffield the other week!

  15. Correct riders will ride where they want to & also where they are looked after. It’s not always about the have & have nots, Ipswich have enjoyed some of the best gates if not the best gates in UK speedway for a longtime. They have also always enjoyed good sponsorship backing from the local business community. It’s only the last 3 or 4 years that we have been competing. Trying to constantly weaken the product has gotten uk speedway to where it is today on the point of extinction.

  16. I was really impressed with MJJ attacked the track & looked very good. Hopefully for Brum he’ll stick around! Brum put up the most fight we have seen at Foxhall so far this year. Rew however given he has spent 2 years on the heath was very poor, seems like Louis & co made the right call.

  18. I always wanted to see Peterborough eventually get the win when they were at home but I enjoyed the meeting far less if it was a non event in terms of a contest. I don’t follow the sport particularly closely in this country anymore but the results I’ve seen so far pop up on social media are a concern I think, like I’ve said before when you start with a league that only has 7 teams having 3 sides that are very poor is not good for what is already a very hard business to sell (speedway) Congratulations to Ipswich who have put together a very strong side, hopefully another team can step up and compete with them come later in the year.

  19. Whilst I agree in principle about price. Neither the promotion or the broadcaster should be advertising it as the ā€œtop 4 scorers from each teamā€. Before a wheel was even turned tonight it was pretty obvious that Emil, Doyle and MJJ would be 3/8 top scorers and paying fans would be expecting to see them come out in the event. It’s pretty poor all round from my perspective.

  20. He couldn't quite believe how crap it really was, so kept going back for a,quick peek... Until he finally decided that it is actually really crap... Still, as many of the Witches fans have said on here, they are fine with the hammerings every week given they haven't won much for years... And these hammerings each week will ensure their attendances stay really good because everyone follows a winning team... A win win for Ipswich...

  22. In both cases the strongest team in their respective leagues are at home to arguably the worst. On, respectfully, two very average at best race tracks. BSN need to choose their fixtures much better IMO.

  24. Heat 4: no battle at all. Jepsen Jensen (apparently on a new engine) gated and Sayfutdinov didn't. Edwards rode a great race to hold Sayfutdinov at the back.

  26. Why bother with LQ1/2, semi finals, final? Just have 20 heats, the rider with the most points. That way the best rider on the night wins not someone who finishes with less points gained throughout the evening.

  28. Lasse must be the unluckiest rider in the league, and a change of club hasn't changed that. Given some better fortune he'll do a fine job at reserve for Plymouth. Very early days for Cluff. I remember when Max Fricke started at Edinburgh he hardly scored a point for the first month or so. Matt Marson is in the NDL and scoring points for Monarchs Academy. 8+1 v Middlesbrough including beating Tom Spencer & Ace Pijper, who are reserves in the Championship.

  29. I do understand the money thing, but don't like to see it tbh. The team they put together don't look cheap to me. I hope it don't bite them in the arse. Thanks Roger, i didn't realise. I looked at 7.20 and thought blimey.. But at 5.40 it restricts their choice a lot.

  31. Smart timing if he wants a break/re-charge. Misses 2 Birmingham Bulls fixture but no Leicester Cubs matches. Bright young talent and hope he comes back stronger, theres a huge weight of expectation placed upon riders and often earlier than they are ready for it.

  33. marson is no concern at all,hes helping the pirates out for a few weeks, just the formality of having a seventh name on the team sheet, hope all his expenses are well covered and hes given a few quid in his pocket .

  36. New Green Sheets come in to force on the 1st of each month, and include a maximum of the last 20 League matches, up to and including the 23rd of the previous month. Because they are Rolling Averages, the most recent scores replace the respective oldest scores, so the average will not necessarily rise or fall in direct relation to current form ... also, it doesn't matter if the scores are home or away, e.g. two recent home scores could replace two old away scores, or vice versa. From what I can see on the speedwaygb website, Cook drops to 5th in the KL averages, and Klindt will be at reserve ... separated by 0.005 !!

  37. Apparently Brum can have a guest up to 75% of Zagar's average, so they've got 5.40 available: Blƶdorn, Howarth, Kemp, or an RS, or someone from the Championship with a qualifying converted average - if any of them are interested and/or available. I'm guessing Hume will have asked for a guarantee, with a bonus if he stays on ... I mean, scores a point or two.

  40. When you have little to no chance of winning the meeting, then the thought process is probably why waste money on a heatleader when you can save money and bring in a reserve instead. Not great for the supporters granted, but if Money is an issue (and it’s likely considering the pre-season statements) then it makes sense from a Birmingham point of view. It does beg the question though how Birmingham managed to make Rew a ā€œsubstantialā€ offer that Chris Louis couldn’t/wouldn’t match.

  41. Get ready for a masterclass tomorrow. Ipswich fans will finally see Doyle and Emil involved in an actual race. It would be more entertaining if Emil and Doyle make the gate over MJJ, as vice versa would be a "follow the leader" race.

  42. I hope for the meetings sake Birmingham put more effort in than they did at Owlerton. MJJ included. Never got the fuss about him in the UK he is bang ordinary!

  46. A big thanks to all who took the time to reply. I only recently found out about George and it's humbling to know I am from the same bloodline. I know he wasn't quite World Champion but from what I understand speedway was new to the UK in the late 1920's and he was one of the pioneers. Particular thanks to SHALEWAY69 (Tony) for sending me some great images which will very shortly be hanging on my staircase! If anyone should come across any memorabilia with George in I would appreciate it if you could keep me in mind. Kind regards...
