  1. I concur with those who refer to the complete inevitability of this. The minute Entain removed Speedway from Monmore to focus on Dogs and Arena / ARC (or whatever the latest Branding is) mooted building a Dog Track on the infoeld on Dunstall Park, Wolverhampton AW Venue with its massive Stand and Hotel, Perry Barr as a venue was doomed. I have massive respect for Nigel for the money he has put in, money he will never recoup. I have to question his team building and management and his sanity or insanity in terms of investment, but he cannot and must not ever be attacked for his loyalty and commitment. For his own mental health and future prosperity, this decision I suspect will in the longer term be welcome to him. With no appraent progess for Wolves, delays and no clear path yet for Brandon , there still may be a glimmer of hope for Midland Speedway at the new Knighthead / East Side development that incorporates to old Wheels Site. This now has Government / Local Government and massive American Funding behind it. The big problem is that a 65,000 state of the art stadium, a new Athletics Track , direct access to the City Centre and Airport may not be branding wise logical with a shale oval track with limited use, when you add in Casino , Cinemas, Hotels, and top class Apartments etc. If the development goes for major Athletic Events that will require a secondary Athletics Stadium with such world class facilities for Training and Competiton and a new Home for GB Athletics , then may be the current Athletics home at Perry Barr may in 5-6 years time be an option BUT it would require significant funding and Council Support and seriousy what state would British Speedway be in by then. Several other Tracks seem to be hanging on by the skin of their teeth in the face of planning , development and economic concerns, so we could in 5 years be down to a core of 10 or less. Sad times and hopefully Nigel gets enough support in the remaining months to at least break even!

  2. Great ride from Kubera but 6 points and in the final? It's madness.

  3. Good to see that you are taking it well though. And breath.

  4. The person I feel a deep sadness for is the legend Brian Buck...it's easy to throw money at something when you're a millionaire...but to campaign tirelessly as much as Brian did to get the club back on track (no pun intended) was an incredible achievement! Thanks Brian

  6. Young Plymouth fan thought the same after the meeting.

  7. Ah well, winning at Plymouth is not for everyone I guess.

  9. Phil Morris saw this comment and decided we couldn't be having any entertainment and flooded the track

  10. aye he does go around A lot slower the regular drivers are lik eWacky Races. Still say they need to blade it and bring dirt back from fence seeing as the rakes are in a time capsule 😁😁

  11. Mr.Tolley did give it a good shot and uve got to give him that .Sadly there wasnt enough support for Speedway in that area. Well done for trying....

  12. And what some seem forget, is that Lewi only averaged 7.09 in his 13 meetings last season partly due to injury problems. But his GSA was still higher at. 7.76 when you signed him. He's had his knocks, and isn't getting any younger. If you take the 7.09 which he actually achieved in 24, he's not far off, averaging 6.17 and rising. I know Poole only have 5 riders riding better than their starting averages, bloody terrible, so come on Lewi get your finger out

  14. Listen to it yourself: It'd be Riss or Cook and the idea is that three rides for Klindt and one for Kvech will be much more reliable at home and it's almost possible to disagree. If they just wanted to do things on the cheap then they wouldn't have booked a guest for Monday week at Brum.

  15. Luke's task this year is to up his average away from home and as long as he ends the year a better rider than he started we are happy. Boy rode well today whilst still feeling the affects of Wednesdays crash. Sorry he's not getting 15 every meeting to keep the keyboard hero's happy but never mind it's only speedway

  17. Well I was there and obviously saw a completely different match There was some decent racing and the atmosphere was brilliant Maybe you needed to be there And congratulations to jack

  18. Surely the cheapest option would be to book someone like Riss,he would probably score a couple of points at the most as opposed to Klindt/Kvech maybe scoring 6/7/8 between them.

  19. No sorry- just about sums up the timings for this GP.

  24. Property Development remains the great nemesis that speedway faces im afraid. OK there was huge issues over the viability of Birmingham, but you couldn't suggest Coventry was not viable (albeit supported by stock car racing) but that didn't stop Brandon Estates buying the site and kicking both of them out. Likewise at Wolves, where a viable operation was removed simply because the owner no longer wanted us there. Doesn't matter how many fans you get through the gates. A speedway club in the UK is only secure as their next lease date.

  25. He's probably the best rider around all Championship tracks, to be fair!!
    2 points
  26. No he shouldn’t… you clearly know very little about how your riders go around Shielfield if you think that. Richard Lawson should be your top scorer, like he should everywhere, as he’s your number 1, and is probably the best rider around Berwick in the league.

  27. He was signed on a 6.23 average, so don't know how you can expect 8 points as a minimum? I'd agree it was a disappointing score but sometimes 6+ riders will score 4 points. Wether Poole were lucky or not, they got the win & will be in the play-offs. Edit. I think I misread the post I applied to. Mind you as Kerr was signed on a sub 8.00 average I don't know why you'd expect 8 points minimum. Between 7-9 would be what (from 4) would be what you could expect of him, but obviously hoping for more.

  28. They’ll probably win tonight and the opinions will be: Lewis Kerr is the worst signing we’ve ever made and the sky is falling in because we aren’t as good as last season. Yous should try a season as a Berwick or Plymouth fan.

  29. Kerr was on Richard Lawson’s bike for his third ride. Kinda suggests bike issues.

  30. To be fair its not just him, team riding has become a lost art.

  31. Rubbish. One of the most experienced riders in speedway. Just get on with it. Four away matches for KL, average 4.21 ...

  32. How good it is to see the progress of Dan Thompson, way ahead of some of his higher profile contemporaries, has often been overlooked as far as the GB Speedway team goes, more due to his low (no) profile way of going about things.

  33. Definitely not! There was plenty being drunk tonight (with no problems caused). We half wondered if the lack of a permanent club in Warsaw attracts more day-tripper/fairweather fans than Torun/Gorzow/Wroclaw's core fanbase? Who knows. Either way, it was probably still about 10x better than any British atmosphere I've experienced recently!

  34. Terrible news just hope its not as bad as it seems, ive always liked Doyley got a lot of respect for him, great rider, loyal to British speedway, he seems to be similar to Tai in picking up these injuries, at this stage of their careers they need to think about the future, and they always seem to be the innocent party, i would heed the warnings and call it quits but these are speedway riders a breed apart. Best wishes for a full recovery.

  35. Once again we’ve thrown another match away, we really are utterly embarrassing at the moment. Where’s our number one when we need him in heat 15 poor grahn even though he had a goon off should be no where near that heat. The captain being soft as s**t in the first bend in heat 14 with the meeting on the line should be slamming that door well and truly shut on Thomson. Pathetic at the moment Poole last night and this tonight.

  36. Morris certainly knows how to ruin a track.Seen a lot worse than what Freddie done but other riders did not lay the bike down.Brady taking lessons from Nicki P..There are lot of tougher moves in GP riding than one tonight. my thoughts are they constantly overwater the track during the grading intervals .Track grade and a light sprinkle would surely be enough.

  37. Would Ben and Tom be on Reassessed averages? Would surprise me if they were and would certainly make them unobtainable
    1 point
  38. Fair point! Would make more sense to have the top two straight through then a single last chance with 1 & 2 joining the top two. Or, and I know this is radical, but the winner is the one with the most points after 20 races.

  39. For who? If was an available HL one of about 4 teams would've moved for him already. And I'm guessing Rowe's improvement levels out Kerr so making 2 changes be difficult. Brennan and Cook (when fit) would be on reassessed averaged based on the prem so be too high I'd think too. As we found last year it's not just that simple anymore to make changes

  40. I did. Kerr and Starke well past their sell by date.

  42. My assumption is that this meeting and the NDL / NDT are categorised as 'junior' speedway (and probably U21/U19 competitions in other countries too) whereas the Championship is senior racing.

  43. The sun delay -- first time I think I've seen it happen at Armadale in nearly thirty seasons -- was a bit of a surprise. An experienced rider explained to me last night that the sun seemed really very bright (atmospherics, clear sky, whatever?) and their problem wasn't riding into it on the third bend, it was the sudden dramatic change from the brightness to shade as they approached the coo-shed. Simply, their eyes couldn't react fast enough to handle the change. Hopefully not to be a regular difficulty -- it is Central Scotland after all, and sunshine as bright as that isn't really the norm......

  44. MJJ over Emil at Birmingham, Emil not quite fully on it yet. And potentially Zagar over Brennan if he has the same away meeting at Thursday. Rew might have a point to prove as well. It’ll be a close meeting. I couldn’t call it, although obviously I’m hoping witches win!

  45. Give Lambert a break. He borrowed an engine tonight to try and get some more points and it ended up in the bin.

  47. Also stops people moaning about the team I'd imagine

  48. Exactly this, you’re making 90% of all league meetings irrelevant for the sake of 6 meetings at the end of the season.
