Apart from the double points rule, which I do think is a bit daft, what's wrong with the rules?

I don't know how many clubs have fans forums, but they should be regular. i think one of the main problems is that the EL doesn't appear to be run professionally enough. I think it stems quite simply from the fact that the fixture list seems all over the place. I can't see why it can't be that for a 28 match programme it can't be one match a week for each team plus an extra match in a week when there is a bank holiday. Scheduling for other leagues and events becomes simpler and always have Monday nights for rain off rescheduling.

Belle Vues National Speedway Stadium
jimmy jimmy replied to Phil The Ace's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Lets hope this gets the planning permission and we get the first purpose built facility that is the start of a few such facilities, Dudley, Bristol would be good for starters. -
If you read forums for all sports, they are frequented by those who want to vent their spleen about how badly everything is run. According to a number of football forums Arsene Wenger has no idea how to run a football team and they would do it so much better. Just go to your local track, enjoy the night out and the racing and remember it is, for us fans, a bit of fun!

This year was too early for Cook, Worral, Birks, Howarth et al. They may get there, I believe Cook and Worrall will, the other two not too sure about yet. I don't know why Nicholls didn't want to ride, but our best team just weren't there. Danny King, whilst not GP standard, is good enough to do a better job than Lads still plying their trade in the PL. In a couple of years, Tai, Harris, Worrall, Cook and Lambert may be an ok team, not Poland or Denmark, but not too bad.

The only tracks where a GB team of Woffinden, Harris, Cook and say King would excel would be Wolverhampton or perversely Belle Vue, the Danes don't go well round there at all!! -

The BSPA need to get Cook, Worrall, Auty. Girls, Howarth more international experience and fast. Robert Lambert has more than those guys combined for Christ sake -

I think this is a season too early for Craig Cook. Barker though is a strange replacement, no better than Cook. Bridger I agree with, but need King's experience to take on Australia. -

In Prague I would go for Danny King and Lewis Bridger, Cookie has never ridden outside the UK and the World Cup play off is not the place to start. The other two race abroad and have a point to prove. Again, Worrall has only ridden abroad a couple of times and no point chucking him in the deep end. We have some promising riders but they need more exposure to international competition, European Champs, World U21, etc rather than racing around Premier League tracks week in week out. Have a test match abroad, even if it is against Czech or Latvia, that sort of thing. -
That is poor, the promotion should be ashamed of that

Speedway Star - Point Of View
jimmy jimmy replied to tigerowl's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
But economics would probably mean some would leave as you can't afford 5 number 1 riders. I think the winning team should be kept together if that promotion wants to, the breaking up of successful teams is the main reason the sport is in decline.well one of them anyway -
I would like guest riders to be limited to the number 1 only. Rider replacement for the other 2 heat leaders and then a squad system for the other 5 places between say a squad of 8. Throughout the season each squad member must be used a minimum of 4 or 5 times. All squad members can double down with a PL team. Won't eliminate guests but would restrict them to just make sure the team is competitive. Guest riders have been around for over 40 years so to use that as the excuse for I don't go anymore is being convenient. A lot of fans of many sports come and go, I used to watch a lot of football, but I don't now. There is no particular reason, I just don't enjoy it as much. I certainly don't go on a Football forum blaming it on foreign players, squad systems, etc

Conspiracy Theory (sky Meetings)
jimmy jimmy replied to Daniel Smith's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
There are a lot more footballers than speedway riders. If you want to keep all tracks going, then you need over 200 riders who will ride in the UK. Many EL teams will be starting from a very small squad as most of their existing riders wouldn't be back. -
Conspiracy Theory (sky Meetings)
jimmy jimmy replied to Daniel Smith's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Exactly, the problem is that Woffinden, Harris and Nicholls won't get a ride, replaced by yet more cheap sub standard European riders. You are right, but there aren't enough riders to go around to have one big league, you can probably fill about 12 teams with riders who won't have other commitments elsewhere, and the quality won't be great. And as soon as any are good, the European leagues will snap them up and then you won't see them again. -
People I know tend to say I saw it on tv and seem to enjoy it by and large. The main problem if you go to a match without someone who is a fan, is to follow what is going on. What a weird thing for someone to say to you. Was it Moxey?

You just can't help yourself can you, just have to keep coming back for one last insult, pathetic
-
Am I in reality? You are going to throw Garrity, a first year PL rider in and expect him to score any ponts? Worrall and Auty? They are a long way off world team cup class. Just letting them loose to trail in 50 yards behind is not giving them experience, it is demoralising them. We aren't talking Lee, Carter or Collins here!
-
Woffinden, Harris, Kennett and King are all in better form than Scott anyway. Cook is a possibility but would be better off getting some international experience first. Garrity, Howath, Worrall should form the basis of an u21 team, if that event still exists? (I am guessing Worrall is the right age?). Otherwise the BSPA should invest in sending them to Denmark, Poland etc to race against representative sides from those countries. I know they would lose but at least they would get some experience.
