  1. Of course they do yes - they had a stint in the DV before they demolished it -
  2. Ok interesting - be a shame really as from my memory the Rugby team no longer play there and it hasn’t hosted football for some time! Foxhall has been a better race track (particularly with Doyle about) since they made the adjustments a few years back
  3. What was the crowd reaction? Lots of 'traditionalist" not huge fans of the superheat yet when Ipswich won against peterborough last season it got a massive roar and everyone seemed right up for it.
  4. It was a 3-3 so Hume got 1* instead of 2 - in the old days that was paid the same was it not? Regardless Danyon has on occasion this year baulked his own team mates who might have done a better job at overtaking the opposition. Wasn't at the meeting - people saying trap 2 was bobbins first five heats 0 points - always used to be gate 3 years back. I do think Owlerton would benefit (if possible) from some track widening - do they still use the pitch in the centre? I played football on there probably about 15 years go now maybe longer
  5. He also had a hand in the hell on earth that is the M5
  6. On a good day But yes shorter journey I was more referring to further on
  7. traffic dependent, I do love Norfolk as a destination butt he only times I have been there it takes me 4 hrs from Sheffield usually - going slightly further than Lynn to Trimingham / coast!
  8. During lockdown I watched plenty of old speedway meetings - some were from the Save Oxford Speedway Channel many had the Nielsen era and the racing certainly wasn't that great, Nielsen often just cleared off into the distance. I also started ordering some meetings from classicspeedway that I remember being belters when I was there - mainly from the 80s and again on video they don't come across that great at all yet I remember them being hugely exciting at the time. I have always said Speedway is best live!
  9. 4 hrs to Lynn or 40 minutes to Sheffield - easy decision!
  10. he had a great season was really impressed the times I saw him ride at Owlerton
  11. Like you i would have been happy for him to have been back - I know a some don't like him but I feel he had overall a good season last year for the Witches
  12. I think oscar wilde said it was careless! however last night Dan got 3 and Joe 0 for Birmingham at Oxford
  13. Batch last year was a good example of this - mosty BPs for the Witches and almost the rest of the league I think
  14. well I suppose but presume that is why they used without BPs it for team building or did! I have no idea what they use now as the average in the programme never seems to correspond to owt! They do use it in Poland
  15. yes because if you score 3 from 3 rides thats 1pt per ride which if you use 4 as your base no of rides for calculating the average would mean its 4!
  16. it is yes - I just go for the other one as thats how CMAs were calculated in the 80s when i started going. it was a simpler time!
  17. yes this is why I have sometimes said look at whom riders are up against before criticising their scoring - poor old Danyon was having 6-7 rides a meeting of late often covering in races with Doyle or Emil the visiting no1 so unless he pulled a blinder out (which to be fair he did do a couple of times) the best he could hope for was 3rd place. Ideally the RS would only be riding against fellow reserves or 2nd strings and not GP riders.
  18. you could well be right - by my reckoning Dan is the 3rd best RS out of the 7 currently riding so it is an improvement - and of course some were demanding change for changes sake so they have it! Its quite clear that neither Rowe (my preferred choice) or Kemp will be coming to Ipswich anytime soon so this is possibly about the best option right now.
  19. thats his points per race - UK averages have always shown points per meeting - not sure which I prefer but its either 0.83 per race 3.33 per meeting or 4.17 if you include BP's - I always work in old money, as they say, so I would use 4.17 as his true average.
  20. Ok so maybe its a bit of a laugh - but one of them is averging 4.17 the other 1.85 - so perhaps not such a nonsensical decision after all
  21. Track was really good last night - far better thanthe previous meeting nice to see the congratulations etc post race
