  1. Which means that "dedicated race nights" are a complete fallacy and mean nothing!! I doubt there will be such a thing in 2024 ("dedicated race nights"), as there (probably) won't be enough teams for three leagues!
  2. Fixed race nights don't really exist though, do they? Leicester ran a Premiership Leagues match the other Saturday.
  3. Didn't the BSPA(L) put a stop to teams not riding at their own track a few years back (Cradley at Wolves for one)? Has that stance changed since then?
  4. Indeed it was Joe Screen and James Grieves in 2011.
  5. Why? He's aggravated an injury and is going to seek medical advice to try and get it sorted.
  6. Might be cause for a separate thread... but.... is it time to scrap the Pairs?
  7. I quote the Edinburgh website: "We did make considerable efforts to bring Bastian Borke back over for the event, He was willing to do it and we had a driver to take his van down, but unsurmountable problems prevented this happening."
  8. Guaranteed a play-off place then (Top 3 qualify) !!
  9. Hasn't really happened before though has it? And, sadly, can't see that changing. They've had "wonderful" ideas in the past, which last a year (if that sometimes) before they are scrapped. Remember a few years ago, when they were telling us that "this is the most important AGM ever" and all they did was bring in the green helmet colour!!
  10. Kyle Howarth withdrew from the meeting at Leicester today - Don't know if this will have an impact on his participation tomorrow.
  11. The weather forecasters have difficulty in predicting the weather for the next day, let alone three weeks time. More than plenty of time for the forecast to change.
  12. So, I take it from what you are saying, the one on the BSPL website on Thursday is (currently) correct?
  13. It was in a totally different riding order too!
  14. He might have told Berwick "count me out of the Pairs".
  15. New line-up announced (on BSPL website): THE revised line-up for the Championship League Riders’ Championship, which takes place at Redcar on Sunday (5pm), has been published. Alterations have been made to the original line-up due to recent injuries and re-arranged fixtures in Poland on the same day. All nine Cab Direct Championship clubs are still represented with a host of top heat-leaders contesting the major event at the ECCO Arena. The line-up is as follows: 1 Rory Schlein (Berwick) 2 Justin Sedgmen (Birmingham) 3 Troy Batchelor (Birmingham) 4 Scott Nicholls (Oxford) 5 Richard Lawson (Poole) 6 Richie Worrall (Plymouth) 7 Kyle Howarth (Plymouth) 8 Lewis Kerr (Oxford) 9 Charles Wright (Redcar) 10 Ryan Douglas (Scunthorpe) 11 Craig Cook (Edinburgh) 12 Ben Cook (Poole) 13 Chris Harris (Glasgow) 14 Jake Allen (Scunthorpe) 15 Danny King (Redcar) 16 Leon Flint (Berwick)
  16. He doesn't have to ride in it, if he doesn't want to. It's not a team meeting, as such, so can't be "done" for withholding his services. Might be a pain in the rectum area for the fans, but it's not the first time and certainly won't be the last time it's happened at these types of meetings. We are kind of getting used to it now (doesn't make it right though).
  17. Depends on how many meetings he was going to miss, I guess? Giving Jack a full-on chance at it is all credit to them, as far as I'm concerned.
  18. Download it and read it to your hearts content: http://www.scbgb.co.uk/download.php?view.10304
  19. How long have we been saying this for?
  20. By the sounds of it, that might not be a bad thing! LOL.
  21. No sour grapes from me and "continually criticize" is going a bit far! IF they are able to continue then all credit to them for doing so, but it seems to me that the general consensus of opinion (on here at least) seems to be they are getting it wrong on more than one level. Yes I wish things had been different at Newcastle, but they aren't. I no longer have a team to support and have to get my "fix" elsewhere, that will be Berwick or Redcar (next nearest Scunthorpe) and out of the two I know where I've been to and I travelled South, rather than North. I much prefer the racing at Redcar (my personal choice) and, to be honest, can't see that changing (due to the track constraints at Shielfield).
  22. In that case, maybe they shouldn't have entered two leagues then?
  23. As far as I understand it, he would have had to pay for all his expenses (fuel to get there and back being the main one), plus time to get there and back, just on the off-chance of getting a ride. Therefore, you have to sympathize with him on that one. As someone pointed out after withdrawing from the British Final, all speedway riders are self employed and have every right not to ride in these types of meetings, if they so wish. You can see it from both angles, but I think I have to agree with Connor Bailey here. Whilst it is an honour to ride for your country, should you have to pay for that privilege ??
